《This Can't Be The End》Chapter 23

E n s l e e y s P O V
I stare at Ryver not knowing what to say, Jake didn't tell his brother about the accident and I just found out, while at the same time telling Ryver about the whole incident.
How did I manage to do that?
Jake had just called drunk and high, after seeing Rachel with someone he didn't know, and said he was going to punch him, I told him to stay where he was until I got there.
I just have to hope I get there before he does something that will be sure to lead him to trouble.
Boy, can he be stupid when he's had to much drink, top that with weed, that just is a perfect recipe for disaster.
"Oh." I say.
"Let me drive you to him." He says, I'm surprised he isn't blowing up over the new found information.
I won't lie and say that I'm not actually relieved over this.
"No, it's fine you don't have to." I say looking anywhere but at him.
"Ensleey,he is my brother I don't mind." He replies, but that's not why I don't want him to drive me, it's because of how Jake acts when he's high.
There's a likely chance he might make an attempt to punch Ryver maybe even land him in the hospital.
But Ryver is his brother and I didn't want to say no, and make him feel bad.
"Okay." I say."But don't let him know that you know about Rachel." I say, he nods without question, which I'm grateful for.
I give him the address to the frat house and he begins driving.
When we get there I tell him to stay in the car until I get him.
I call him when I'm out of the car, thinking it's better to know where he is before walking into the loud home.
"Where are you?" I ask as soon as he picks up.
"At the frat house Ens. Where else would I be?" He mutters slurring his words.
"I mean where in the house?" I sigh, knowing it's going to be a long night.
"In a room there's pot, a lot of pot." He laughs. "I love pot."
I roll my eyes at my best friend even though he can't see me. I hang up without saying anything else thinking I'll ask someone in the house, if they are aware of the room.

I go in the house and ask a guy who's standing alone, against a wall who seems sober enough and holding a beer.
"Do you know where people are smoking around here?" I ask in a bored tone, being blunt. Because how the hell am I supposed to go about the question?
Hey dude you know where i can get really high, like I really want to fly tonight.
I'm definitely not saying that, I'd sound high.
He smirks, and I know I won't get an answer I like.
"You looking for some pot hot stuff." He licks his lips, his eyes raking my body.
Ew.
"Just tell me where the hell it is in this place if you know, and don't expect you will ever get anything from me."
"Second door to the left on the second floor." He says surprisingly easily he sees my sickness and adds. "I can tell it won't get me anywhere so what the point in trying." he shrugs putting his hands in the pocket of his jeans.
He's not too bad, for a person at one of these places.
I leave without saying anything but a quick thanks.
Going upstairs and following his directions, to my surprise I open the door to see a bunch of guys smoking pot, Jake in between them.
"Ens!" I hear his voice as he gets up, swaying from side to side.
"C'mon let's go." I say like a mother would say to her child.
"Guess what?" He says, but doesn't let me answer. "I lost my hand." He laughs.
I smile and wait for him to continue whatever thing is going to say in his state.
"But it turns out it's right here." He giggled, yes giggled and pointed to his hand like it's the most fascinating thing he's ever seen.
"Congratulations." I say trying not to laugh but can't help a small chuckle that escaped my lips.
"I need to punch that asshole." He says his voice goes from playful to hateful within the second.
I know immediately who he was referring to.
"No, Jake you have to go home and sleep off whatever the hell who inhaled." I say.
"No, I don't." He said like a stubborn child, which was what he really was.
"Jacob." I gritted my teeth.
"Fine." He huffed, now I just have to make sure he doesn't bump into Rachel, and my life will be fine.

So, I walk Jake down the stairs making sure he doesn't get distracted or trips, and just when I think we're in the clear, his eyes wander to the kitchen, which you are able to see clearly from the hall.
A girl stands laughing leaning into a guy with his arm snaked around her shoulder, as they talked animatedly with a few people, of course the girl who had an arm snaked around her shoulder was none other than Rachel.
"Jake, it's not worth it." I try to get him to not go over to the pair, but it seems to be no use in reasoning with him when he's high, and upset.
Before I can try to stop him-again-he's in the guy's face lifting him by the collar of his shirt and slamming him to the counter, a look of fear passes across the poor boy's face.
"What the hell man," he says, as Jake raises his fist and punches him, leaving him with a bloody nose, as his response.
I don't say anything, waiting for him to get it out of his system, but still hoping will stop it.
Rachel looks scared, and a few people yell at Jake to stop.
While I stand and watch, like a good friend waiting patiently.
After he punches him about twice more, he puts him down, looking over at Rachel who looks at him horrified. I notice he's shoulder slump, and I know it still pains him.
"You-You are the guy who keeps showing up at my apartment." She says accusingly.
"Jake." I say giving him a look trying to tell him that it's not worth it, he just stands there for a second before nodding.
I give Rachel and her friends an apologetic smile, I'm not surprised to see all of them looking at me with disgust.
Like I give a damn.
"Jake." I say once we're out of the dingy frat house. "You need to find a way to let this go, you can't just punch random people because they're there with her and you're not." I don't say her name, knowing it's better not.
"I know, I'm trying." He says his voice is small. "Where's your car?"
I fidget with my hands, because I know what his reaction is going to be. "Ens..."
"Well-umm you know Ryver drove me, and I sorta maybe said something he didn't know about-"
"Can I be mad about this tomorrow when I'm not high?" He asks rubbing his forehead, and I nod.
We walk to Ryver's car, and Jake tells me he doesn't have his keys and I don't have my spare.
Of course it's confusing why Jake doesn't have his keys, but he's also the most forgetful idiot I've ever met, good thing I love him becaues he loses things too much.
"Jake's going to stay at my place so can you drive us there?" I ask Ryver before Jake enters the car, and apologize again because I feel bad that this is how he spent the rest of the night.
But he insists it's fine.
The whole ride to my house is filled with tense silence, Jake not saying a word, and I don't know how to start a conversation with both boys in the car, so the whole ride is filled with silence.

"Do you need anything?" I ask Ensleey, after Jake walks up Ensleeys driveway going to the door, without saying anything to me.
She shakes her head, no. Then fidgets with her hands, and I know she's nervous, it's something I've noticed she does often especially when she's nervous or anxious.
"If you want you can stay it's late," She says, and I consider it for second, she's right it's almost two in the morning now.
"I don't want to be any trouble." I say.
"There's a blow up mattress that I keep in the guest bedroom." She says. She sees my confused look and adds. "You don't know how many times someone had to crash here." She laughs.
"Okay." I say with a small smile, because hell I can't stop smiling when I'm around Ensleey.
So it's official that I was staying at Ensleey's Hendrix house tonight with Jake also being here.
It was going to be an interesting night.
