《Unnatural Disaster || JJK ✔️》Chapter 32: Love & Games [Edited]

Standing by the glass window and leaning slightly against the rim, I stared inside the hall, silently watching a disheveled Yoongi getting shot right on his chest by the man standing at the opposite end of the ground, seeking refuge behind an abandoned truck while carrying his mighty gun, Lieutenant Jeon Jungkook. The former clutched his chest tightly under his fingers and with a face contorted with sheer agony, he fell to the cold, hard floor, eyes closed shut to mimic death. He stayed motionless on the ground for a while before jumping right back to his feet, dusting off his messed up T-shirt and a rankled scoff ran up my chest at the elaborate impromptu the boy had just put forward.
Soon a third figure emerged from behind a broken car catching the two men off guard. She took the opportunity to her advantage and fired at Jungkook. The latter's camouflage that he maintained to keep clean till now was finally tainted with a blazing shade of orange, rendering the man shocked. His widened eyes glared at Y/N with forged misery which eventually made the girl burst into laughter and I heaved a deep sigh.
It had been so long since I saw her laugh like that.
Two more men came out from their hidings soon after and both immediately attacked the sole female, shooting her down ruthlessly with their colorful amo and within a matter of seconds, Y/N was drenched with bright shades of pink and green.
She tried her best to protect her face with her spread out palms but that didn't quite help her.
"Hah.....we win" exclaimed a cheery Taehyung as he raised his hand to meet Jimin's in a victory high five, both holding a smug pride on their faces. It was this morning that Yoongi proposed a competitive game of paintball and the rest didn't think twice before joining in. And ever since, the five had been shooting each other down inside the newly transformed training ground, with their designated colors, fighting each other like a bunch of army defending their honor.
Two teams, Taehyung-Jimin-Jungkook and Yoongi-Y/N kept the battle on bay until both the players of the second team got eliminated and right now the entire gang stood there, laughing at their own juvenility with only two being spared from any tinted intrusion.
"It's pay-time, suckers" Jimin snorted. Laying his gun down on the bonnet of a nearby truck, he walked up to the two siblings and threw his arms around their shoulders pulling then in a double sided hug, not caring if he is ruining his battle attire, "and as per the bet, you both are in-charge of cooking dinner tonight."
An agitated groan came from Y/N making the other four laugh deviously. Annoyance was clear on her stained face, after all she had been hating cooking and dodging the kitchen for years now. The first and the last time Y/N went near the oven was when she was 15 and her mother had asked her to make some pancakes. The poor girl whisked the batter so passionately that the mixture went flying from the bowl and all over the kitchen island which she had to eventually clean and Y/N had been recoiling at the name of cooking ever since.

However, Yoongi on the other hand held an emotion in his eyes very different from that of Y/N's. Instead of being annoyed, he looked kind of conniving and with a sly smirk plastered on his lips, he stared directly at Jungkook for some unknown reasons.
"But it's only fair if Jungkook joins us as well. After all, he lost too" he stated making his intentions known and the said cop only grunted in astonishment.
"Say what now?"
After minutes of some stupid bickering, the maniacs finally decided on punishing all the three with kitchen duties and soon the gang went their separate ways, leaving the arena to be cleaned up for future brawl. The show was over and I was about to turn around to leave myself when a certain voice called me from behind.
"Hey Jin, what are you doing here?"
Yoongi came up to me with hurried steps, a gun in his grasp and a smile on his face. Doesn't he know we mafias aren't supposed to smile like that?
"Doing my job and keeping an eye on our prisoner. Apparently, it seems to be only me who is bothered about protecting our organization" I could taste the bitter hatred on my tongue as I spoke the words. Yoongi looked at me bewildered for a moment before smearing his face with a determination equally passionate as mine.
"I'd rather protect my sister's happiness than this stupid organization" the accusation rolling along side his words pricked my heart with a sheer ache and I tried fighting back my tears.
"She's my sister too"
"And yet you seem to not care about what she truly wants"
I could hear my heart crack at that. I knew I had not been a good brother to Y/N. Yoongi was an outsider and yet he took better care of Y/N than her own cousin. And remorse scraped my soul at the mere thought.
Unlike Y/N, I used to love this profession since I was a kid. Every time my dad brought me to the Kim Mansion, I used to run to the training halls and watch people practice shooting. They made me feel like they were in some action film and I so desperately wanted to be a part of it. In fact I was so adamant and thrilled about the subject that Y/N's father himself took the responsibility to teach me all the moves and stunts I know today.
However, all that changed for me when one day I saw my idol die in front of my eyes. Both uncle and aunt heaved their last breaths leaving the mafia orphaned and that was the day I was exposed to the true horrors of the underworld. I realized how many burdens Uncle Myung-Dae had hidden under that fond smile of his for all those years.

I got scared when I saw the real façade of the mafia, how killing was not a hopeless alternative but a daily necessity in this job and I wanted nothing more than to run far away from it. I never wanted to be a ruthless murderer or a blood thirsty criminal but I couldn't just leave my sister like that either, especially when she was going through the most vulnerable period of her life.
But seeing her like that made me even more scared. I thought she needed my help and in order to make her stronger, I ended up forcing her deeper into the mafia. I instigated her to take up the gun, not to kill anybody though, just to protect herself. All I wanted was for her to protect herself but I didn't realize my methods were so wrong.
I remembered how Yoongi tried to stop me when I trained Y/N for hours but I ignored him because I thought I was doing the right thing. I thought being born in a mafia, it's only fair if Y/N devoted to the family business. But I was so wrong in thinking that way and now all I am left with is the guilt of snatching Y/N's happiness away.
"I am sorry hyung, I didn't meant it that way" Yoongi's words dove right through my misery but his apology didn't work its way out. How could it when I knew what he said was nothing but true?
"No, don't be, I should be the one sorry" Dragging my palms up to my face I wiped my face off of the tears I didn't even notice I'd shed. "I am sorry for making your lives miserable-"
"No, don't say that hyung" Yoongi inched closer with open arms to embrace me but I couldn't just let him in, not when I had so much explaining to do. So I took a step back making the man halt in his actions. From the corner of my eyes I could see him looking at me with orbs dripping of utmost concern and that's when I knew, it was high time I mend some things.
"Look Yoongi" I steadied my voice as I disclosed my latent emotions. "I was wrong to bring Y/N into the mafia even if she didn't want to. I knew she blamed herself for having dreams different from that of her parents and that she hated herself for not being an ideal daughter. And I was wrong to use her broken state to try and make her stronger. I was a jerk to do that and I'm very sorry for that. I thought infuriating her about the tragedy would make it easier for her to cope with the vicious world I considered her to be meant for but now I know that she's far better off without this freaking mafia.
Just like yourself, I too don't care about this stupid business. All I want is to see my family happy, see you guys happy. I just don't know how to get there yet, how to be free when we're so deeply plunged in already?"
A tired sigh fled my mouth as exhaustion invaded my veins. After letting it all out I felt kind of relieved. However there was still an uncertainty, willingly or not we were all involved in the Kim Mafia, so how would we break free from its bounds without being penalized by the law? The question was unholy and it was bothering me when all I wanted at that moment was to lock myself into my room and rest. So I turned around to walk away but when a sudden thought crossed my mind, I stopped. I turned slightly to my right until I could perceive half the figure of Yoongi standing still and looking down silently, probably calculating what I just said. However ignoring his conundrum I inhaled sharply and spoke.
"I don't know what your intentions are Yoongi but the cupid that you are playing between the two, I don't know if its genius or pure idiocy. But whatever it is, I just don't want you to forget that Jungkook is still a cop. His initial intentions were to detain us, maybe even kill us if needed. So think carefully before trusting him. I know Y/N seems to enjoy his company and I'd be grateful to him and you if this works out. It's that I can't just shrug of the fact that there's still a possibility of betrayal. Just don't let our sister get hurt Yoongi, not again because I can guarantee you, if Jeon Jungkook tries to cross Y/N or any one of us, if he tries to jeopardize our lives in any way, I wouldn't think twice before shredding him into pieces with my own hands" I tried announcing with all the loathe I could muster but Yoongi seemed to find just the perfect words to focus on.
"So does that mean you are giving Jungkook a chance, hyung?"
"Maybe..."

The Last Journey
A slice of life litrpg story... or is it? It's burning slow, though. Moving on: War comes with a great cost. Lives and time wasted for most part. One could either be run with sword, be poisoned, be bowed, and sometimes meet their end with just a tiny speck of wood. With magic, it becomes even more colorful. From lightning, to worse poison, to hovering rocks, to weird bladed leaves, to whipping roots, and to a lot more odd things easily reasoned with magic. A wonderful creation. But once used to something more than wonder, more than tricks to gather laughs, it becomes worse. War becomes worse. For there is not only blood to be spilled. A particular town almost met the same end. Soldiers geared with swrords and bows came with mounts. Horses burning lush grasses as it cracked boulders and the soil alike with every step. The kind that only war ones could ever do. Even strange wheeled creations that oozed danger were towed, loaded with something meant to destroy. But not once had they acted upon what such devices should've done, nor what an an army is supposed to do. Siege never occurred, as much as a command to war. No. Magic existed so a simple little fire is all the worth the town has. No sword drawn, no arrows nocked, nothing. Just some mana spent and through the ash they march. That was how Nudius saw her end. It came not even as a surprise. She didn't have the moment to fully register what occurred before she found herself in an empty dark space. Life lost, time spent. All from a fire that had not even touched her. But she knew very well that it was magic. Something she wished to have and strived for to have. Yet it seemed that none of it would matter now. Nudius was well aware of what the color around meant, of the odd situation, of the unfeeling state of her being. It was death and that was it. She didn't have to worry or dream further. Although there wasn't what she truly wanted in what death to her is, but at least, Nudius was comforted to what she believed death is. Rest. But little did she know there's something more than that empty space. It wasn't only the promise of rest, but was also more than she could ever hope for. Another chance at life. Another chance to dream. ***Tags are there just in case. You never know! Umm... HI-MI-TSU. Story blurb+: This is slow burn, quite slice of life story about a girl learning magic. All the while as she fatten herself up. So yeah, progression fantasy. But there's Litrpg! Numbers! Magic! Spells! And of course! There's something more. But read on ahead, please. Oh yes. Plot! There is, too. Disclaimer: The cover isn't made by me. Just layered it with a text. I got it from a free website, if I correctly recall. I'll see to it. (Haven't worked on it.)
