《TMNT Dimensions (completed)》Chapter 20: Backwards, part 18

Bree's eyelids fluttered open. She turned her head from side to side, taking in her surroundings. From the looks of it, she guessed she was in the lab. Though Donnie's or Danyella's, she couldn't tell. She couldn't remember what had happened past falling down and down. She remembered fear, wondering what would happen when she hit the substance below, but nothing after that. She went to stretch, but felt something wrapped around her hand. She turned her head and saw... a boy. A human boy she had never seen before, was sleeping in a chair beside the bed she was in, and clinging to her hand. She panicked and sat bolt up right, freeing her hand as she did so.
A new pain blossomed in her abdomen when she moved. It was agonizing, but she ignored it as best as she could. The boy had woken up when she moved her hand, and he stared up at her, with big, surprised eyes.
"Who are you! Leave me alone! I have a..." she looked around and picked up the nearest, hardest item she could get her hands on. "... a clipboard, and I'm not afraid to use it!"
The boy held up both his hands in a surrendering position. "Woah, dudette, I know I'm not as cute as I used to be, but you don't need to get all hostile about it!"
Bree slowly lowered the clipboard. "Mikey?"
She gasped, and he nodded in confirmation. She looked him over, processing it all. He now had dirty blond hair, a green shirt, which was the same shade his skin used to be, white finger-less leather gloves sat on the floor next to his white sock-clad feet. His pants were brown jeans, his skin was tan, and dark colored freckles dotted his face, which still held baby blue eyes, and a cheerful grin, and babyish chubby checks. He was muscular with broad shoulders. Bree just couldn't believe it. "How.. why... what happened?" She stuttered, still too shocked.

He cleared his throat. "Everyone will be so excited to see you again! I'll go let them know your awake." He said, and got up. She puzzled over his new look as he left. He had changed the subject much to quickly. She guessed it was still a sore subject for him. She didn't dwell on it much longer, though, because then everyone came filing in. They came as one big group and circled the small medical cot she was in.
Menacing Mike was at her side first. He no longer had his cuts from his brawl with Splinter, and he seemed to have a new glint in his eyes. "Thank you." He said. "For rescuing me. I have a real family now, one that cares about me. They don't scold me when I have nightmares, or hit me harder when I fall down. And, honestly, I've always wanted sisters." When he said this, Rocky smiled, and ruffled his hair. Bree couldn't help grinning despite the pain in her torso, knowing that she had brought this poor soul his happily ever after. A few more 'hello's and 'good to see you's were exchanged.
Finally, Bree asked "How long was I out?"
No one looked her in the eye.
"Check the dates." Donnie said, handing her back the clipboard. He had taken it back earlier to scribble some note on her vitals and health. She looked down.
It read: and off in the other corner, . Three weeks. She had been unconscious for three weeks. It wasn't that bad, honestly, but she still couldn't believe she had been out for three whole weeks! She shook her head in disbelief.
"We got you back here as fast as we could." Miwa explained. "But you were in pretty bad shape. The bullet Splinter shot you with was electrified, and it not only burned your body, but it shocked some of your nerves too."

"Honestly, I'm impressed you survived being shot twice." Said Donnie. "Those pullets packed quite a punch. Nearly ten milliamapheres. If it had gone any higher, you would have lost control of a limb. And they were imbedded pretty deeply into your body. The operation to get the bullets removed lasted three hours."
"Oh. That explains why my abdomen hurts like crazy." She said nonchalantly.
"It's actually about time we replaced your bandages. May I?" Danyella asked, gesturing at the rolls of bandages in a table near by.
Bree shrugged her consent, and pulled up the hem of her shirt, only to be greeted by white bandages wrapped around her stomach and waist. In two different areas, one right above her hip bone on her left side, and the other a bit higher and to the right, the bandage was stained with blood and puss. Danyella bent over and began to unwrap the bandages. Underneath the stained bandages were two small-ish holes in her side, both holes had blood around them, and slowly oozing out. Bree had to look away to keep from gagging or something. She looked over at Mikey as Leo asked him:
"So, Mikey, are you going to leave her side or eat now?"
"Wadda mean?" Bree asked
Ralph spoke up. "He hasn't left the lab and he's barely eaten or drank anything since he came back from whipping Splinter's shell."
"I'm sorry, did I miss something?" She asked. Figuring out what had happened while she was unconscious was a good way to distract herself from the pain and scary bullet holes in her abdomen. Mikey's brothers explained how after Bree fell into the humitagin, Mikey dove in after her, giving up his mutant form to save her life. After he had rescued her, he got really mad at Splinter for what he had done to her. No one knows what happened after that, except that Mikey had a showdown with Splinter, and had come out with a broken nose and cracked rib. There hadn't been any Hamato activity since. (Bree had to remind herself that the Foot were the good guys here, and that the Hamatos were the bad guys.) And when he came back, all he cared about was her. He sat by her side the entire three weeks, and barely ate or drank or slept. She stared at Mikey, who was hanging his head to hide his burning cheeks. "Is all of that true?" She asked in disbelief. He nodded, and she felt the insane longing to hug him. So that's what she did. He was still sitting next to her cot, so she leaned over and wrapped her arms around his neck. He stiffened for a moment, but soon melted into the embrace, and soon, it was just him and her, in each other's arms...
