They wake to the sound of Dick's alarm, telling him he has to get ready for work. Dick and Wally both simultaneously groan, then chuckle.

Dick cracks an eye open and practically hisses at the light, "Too bright."

"That's because I'm a ray of sunshine," Wally jokes, opening his eyes to look at his sleepy boyfriend, who he is currently tangled with, "Mornin' babe."

Dick opens his sky blue eyes, "Morning," he says, then kisses Wally, ignoring the morning breath. The alarm on Dick's phone is still sounding. Dick reluctantly untangles himself from his boyfriend to reach for it and turn it off.

He sits on the edge of the bed and rubs his eyes, "What time did we go to bed at?"

"Mmm..9:45pm I guess. Don't think you've been to bed that early or slept that long since you were a kid."

"No, definitely not," Dick turns his head around to see him. Wally is half sitting up, ginger hair tossed even more so than usual. He still can't get over the fact that Wally is actually his.

"Have you got a headache?" The redhead asks.

"Not really. Just a dull throb. I've had much worse, it's not bothering me," Dick replies, then stands up, "I better get ready for work."

"I think I'll shower when you're done in the bathroom. That okay?" Wally asks, getting a nod in return. He can't help but watch Dick walk out and admire him. He is covered in scars, some more recent than others, but they aren't ugly. They are uniquely him.

Wally has a couple of scars too, most of which were from childhood, before he acquired rapid healing powers and extra speed force protection. A few were the result of the usual falling out of trees and tripping in the playground, but most were from his own father. He pushes away the thought.

Wally slips out of the bed to gather up his clothing and fold it somewhat. When Dick emerges from the bathroom he goes in to shower.

Dick gets dressed - just regular clothes, he left his uniform in the locker room at work - and then heads to the kitchen to get breakfast. He feels..surprisingly refreshed. He really needed to sleep more, but finding time to is difficult. Some nights he doesn't return from patrol until 4am.

Dick fixes himself a bowl of cereal, then hears a knock on the door. He goes to answer it, bring the bowl with him, and opens it to see Clancy.

"Hiya Grayson, just came to check up on yeh, I met Wally last night and he said yeh were absolutely plastered," Clancy says, "Well, not in those words, but yeh know."

"I can only remember bits of last night, to be honest. Come in, I'm just having breakfast before I go to work," Dick says, stepping aside. Wally is showering and Clancy will probably be gone again by the time he's done.

"Are yeh hungover? Wally seemed pretty concerned about yeh. He's a good friend."

"No, just a light headache really. I'm pretty lucky to have him, yeah."

"Where were yeh yesterday anyway? The grandmother in Chicago thing was obviously a lie," She giggles.

"Heh...yeah I don't have any living grandparents. Sorry for lying, I was actually in Gotham. I was going to Pride with Wally and a couple of other friends," Dick explains.

"Aw, that's nice of yeh to support yer friends," Clancy says.

"Uh, you know we happened to be discussing where same sex marriage is legal and we had no idea if it was in Northern Ireland. It is in the Republic and in Great Britain right?" He asks, then takes another spoon of cereal.

"Oh, yah. But it's not legal in Northern Ireland. We've just got civil partnerships. There's a lot of people against it, especially Catholics. People blame the DUP too. I personally don't mind the idea. If someone wants to marry somebody I don't care who as long as it isn't a child or a relative, because that's disgusting."

Dick nods, "Yeah."

"Hey babe, I'm going to borrow a t-shirt, I'll return it-" Wally walks in, adjusting the towel around his waist, then looks up and sees Clancy, who has a blush creeping up her face. Wally freezes and so does Dick.

Wally laughs a little nervously, trying to cover for them, but the damage is done, "Oh, hah. That was a joke. I called him that as a joke. We're not um..together."

Dick sighs, "It's okay, Wally. Clancy was bound to find out at some point."

"Ye're a couple?" The Irishwoman asks in surprise.

"Yes," they both answer at the same time.

"For how long? I thought.."

"That I was straight? I..uh swing both ways. Currently swinging Wally's way and have been for around two months," Dick explains, "But..I've liked him for longer than that."

"Oh. Right," She looks in between them and Wally can see the disappointment on her face.

"I'm going to go get dressed," Wally says, pointing over his shoulder. He then turns around, "I'll give you a lift to work, seeing as your bike is still in Gotham."

"Thanks, Walls."

"I should probably get going..a landlady' work is never done, after all," Clancy says, "See ya, Grayson."

"Bye," Dick waves.

She leaves and Wally comes back into the kitchen a second later, dressed. He has Dick's 'Gotham Knights' t-shirt on, which is surprising because Wally supports Keystone. He apologises, but Dick shakes his head, "It's okay, honestly."

"You ready to go? I might stick around awhile after dropping you back," Wally says as Dick finishes his cereal and puts the bowl in the sink, "It's not like I have much else to do. Your apartment could use some sorting out and I could go get your bike. Roy is probably still around somewhere."

"Thanks Walls. You're the best. I just need to brush my teeth."

"Sure thing."

Dick brushes his teeth, then they leave the apartment. He gives Wally his bike key and he puts it into his pocket.

Dick arrives at work and goes to the locker room to change into his uniform. He unlocks his locker, number 037, which he had gotten a kick out of when he joined the force as it was his Spyral ranking back when he was a secret agent.

He's just pulling off his t-shirt, being careful to stay behind the locker door so nobody gets suspicious about his numerous scars, when he hears someone talking to him.

"Who was that with you outside, rookie?"

Dick wonders when he is going to loose the title of rookie. He just sighs and slips on his white uniform shirt. Don't react. It's exactly what he wants.

"Your boyfriend, huh? Is that it? No wonder Amy paired up you and Malloy. The two homos," He continues as Dick buttons up his shirt. His two friends laugh behind him. Dick takes out his belt and slams his locker shut.

"If you're so interested, I'm not gay, Officer Hart, I'm bisexual. Now, please get out of my way so I can get on with my job," He replies, putting on his belt and holster.

"So that ginger guy was your boyfriend?"

"What? Are you jealous?" Dick quips, immediately regretting it. Stupid stupid.

"You little shit," Hart hisses, shoving Dick against the lockers.

"Those lockers have enough dents in them without you using Grayson to make it worse," Everyone turns to see Gannon.

"Fuck off Malloy, unless you want to join rookie here," Officer Smith says.

"I suggest you let go of him, he's capable of a lot more than he lets on, believe me. Besides, he'll rat you out to Captain Rohrbach. You know how Grayson is," Gannon says.

"He does have a point, Hart," His other friend chimes in, "Goody two shoes sucks up to Amy big time."

Officer Hart steps back with a groan, letting Dick go. Dick fixes his shirt, then walks through the others, "Thanks Gannon. C'mon, let's get to the patrol car."

The blonde side eyes Hart and his cronies before following his partner out of the room. He and Dick both hear Smith muttering, "Fuckin' homos."

"You know, you could have just told them you were straight. That Wally was still just a friend," Gannon says once they're walking down the stairs.

"Yeah, I could have, but I'm trying to be more comfortable with myself. If I'm more willing to be out, maybe Wally will be too. He still hasn't told his uncle, who's practically his dad."

"You sound like Ellis. His parents disowned him when they found out, but he's still so positive."

"I never came out to my parents. Didn't get the chance to," Dick says, pushing open the door to the underground carpark, "So I don't know how they would have reacted. I like to think they wouldn't have minded."

"What do you mean, never got the chance? Are they dead?"

"They were murdered when I was a kid. I witnessed the whole thing," Dick tells him as they walk to their squad car, "Have you got the key?"

"Uh, yeah," Gannon passes him the key with an odd look, "Jeez, I'm sorry to hear that. You don't come off as the kind of guy who had a traumatic childhood."

"I'm good at staying positive," Dick shrugs, unlocking the car, "You know what, you should probably drive. I was drinking yesterday evening and there's probably still some in my system, just in case."

They get into the car and Gannon starts it up, "How was pride, anyway?"

"Great. Went with Wally, obviously. My friend Roy came along with his girlfriend, but he actually went out with my younger brother at some point. My brother came too, brought a friend of his who also happened to be bi. We all wore matching bisexual pride t-shirts. Except for Donna, she wore a straight ally t-shirt. We ran into my other younger brother, too. My adoptive step-mom-to-be brought him. He's gay but he won't formally tell any of us, even though we all know he is."

"I wasn't expecting such a long answer to that," Gannon admits.

"I talk too much. Sorry. Do you know if they've made any progress on the Redhorn case?" Dick asks. Their last police chief had been murdered at his desk. Dick had been investigating it as Nightwing, trying to figure out who did it.

"No. Not really."

"I wouldn't mind doing a bit of sleuthing myself. I really want to know who killed him."

"Hoping to become a detective or something? Better pay I guess."

"Maybe, I'd like that. Not the pay, the investigating. You..wouldn't mind helping me, would you?"

"Mmm...they are being awfully slow with it. I want to know who did it just as much as everyone else."

"I need to have a look in the evidence room. Could you set up a distraction?"

"...Yeah, I guess I could."

"Thanks."

-----------------------

Dick is sitting in front of the computer at the tower, several screens lit in the dark room. He's got a cup of coffee next to him and he sips it while he works. He can't stop thinking about what happened to Amy. A bomb was planted in her house and she made it out just in time with her husband and kids, thanks to a warning from Nightwing.

She had said to him at work the next day that her uniform was the only other clothes she had left besides her pyjamas. He took her back to the scene to point out evidence and happened to mention his parents, saying it was a targeted attack just like how Tony Zucco targeted them. Amy noticed he knew more about crime investigation than he was trying to let on.

His eyes catch something flicker on one of the security cameras. Before he has time to wonder what it is, a newspaper is tossed onto one of the the keyboards in front of him.

It's The Gotham Gazette, the city's most popular tabloid. The date is from a few days ago. He looks up and sees a very stoney-faced Barry Allen. His cowl is pulled down, showing his blond hair.

"Barry," Dick nods. Play it cool, he tells himself.

"Have you seen this?" Barry asks, pointing at one of the pictures on the front. There was a feature about Gotham Pride. Dick swallows, seeing the image of him and Wally kissing. He knew about the risk of paparazzi, but on the day had just forgotten about it, caught up in the fun of it all. The picture explained why people had been tagging him in so many tweets lately. He didn't check them.

"Not until now, no...I'm surprised I haven't."

"Is that you and Wally, Richard?"

Oh god, there it is. His full name. Dick closes his eyes and takes a deep breath in and out, "Yes, it is, but I really think you should be having this conversation with Wally, not me."

Barry leans backwards against the desk, also taking a deep breath, "How long?"

"Two months, six days."

Barry covers his face with his hands, "He never said a word to me."

"Wally was just...waiting for the right time to tell you."

"Iris said she knew...does he not trust me?"

"Of course Wally trusts you, Barry. You're his uncle, his hero. He only recently came to terms with it himself."

"Batman gave me the newspaper. He's known about you guys for two months."

Bruce had given it to Barry and not to him? Odd.

"Yeah...but I had been meaning to come out to him for years, Barry. It takes time," Dick explains.

"I thought you two were both into girls," Barry says in confusion. Dick can understand why he is puzzled.

"We are both into girls. And guys. But...specifically each other."

Barry nods, "Okay. Have you guys..liked each other long?"

"Well, I've liked Wally for..a long time. I thought it would never happen, obviously. Kind of like you and Iris."

"Yeah. I..haven't been around for Wally as much as I should have. I've just been so busy..." Barry sighs, running his hand through his blonde hair. He then steps away from the desk and looks down at Dick.

"Look," he starts, but is interrupted.

"Barry?!"

They both turn to see Wally, standing at the door, frozen. There's a mixture of shock and horror on his face. His green eyes dart between the two superheroes and then to the newspaper.

"Hey, Wally," Dick greets, then stands up, "I should probably..let you guys talk."

"No, Dick. Don't go. Wally, come here."

The redhead walks over to them cautiously, making eye contact with his boyfriend, who puts his hand on his shoulder and mouths, it's okay.

"Are you two happy?" Barry asks, catching Wally by surprise. He and Dick both nod.

"Well then I'm happy for you. You guys are a good match, there's no doubt about that," Barry tells them with a smile, which they return. Wally rushes forward and throws his arms around his uncle.

"Thanks, Barry. It means a lot."

Barry pats his back and chuckles, then pulls back with a serious expression, "Are you two being safe?"

"Jeez, Barry, we're not kids anymore! Of course," Wally groans, causing Barry to laugh.

"I know, I know. Hey, why don't we all go grab lunch? On me."

Wally nods, "Sure."

Dick looks back at the monitor, "I'd love to, but I've got-"

"Work to do? C'mon, take a break," his boyfriend urges.

"Bruce is a workaholic too," Barry comments.

Five minutes later, they're sitting in a fast food restaurant having lunch. Dick opens his burger box and states, "I'm not like Bruce."

"You sound pretty sure about that," Wally snickers.

"I'm way more fun than Bruce," Dick continues, "Bruce eats burgers with a knife and fork."

"Does he?" Wally and Barry ask at the same time.

"Uh huh," Dick says, taking a bite of his burger, "But Jason says he eats it normally when he's in costume. Part of his secret identity."

"That's extra, even for him," Wally says with a laugh.

"Speaking of Bruce, he gave you the newspaper?" Dick says to Barry.

"Yeah. There's more on the inside I didn't read yet," the blonde nods, unrolling the newspaper and putting it out onto the table. He opens it to page three and passes it over to his nephew and his boyfriend.

Wally reads, "Pride took place in Gotham yesterday, blah blah blah...here we go. Many celebrities made appearances at Gotham Pride, including Batman, who seemed to be monitoring the proceedings from the rooftops. Blah blah..Bruce Wayne also made an appearance briefly, but his sons made more of splash this time around..."

"Oh god, here we go," Dick says with a roll of his eyes.

"Tim Drake-Wayne was spotted at the parade, but much more notably, Wayne's eldest, Richard Grayson, was seen locking lips with a mysterious red-haired young man," Wally struggles to finish the sentence because he's laughing so much, "Hear that? I'm the mysterious one now!"

After Wally somewhat composes himself, he continues, "There has been much speculation over Grayson's sexuality in the past, but this is the first time anyone has caught him with a man. It seems like he's no longer hiding anything from the public eye...blah blah blah...'much speculation in the past?' Did I miss that completely?"

"You don't live in Gotham. And, If you had asked about it in the past I would have denied it," Dick says with a shrug, "Well. I guess I'm publicly out now. Thanks, Vicky Vale. Never liked her. She always used to pinch my cheeks at charity galas when I was a kid. Still does, but not the same cheeks," he sighs.

"Ew. She's like Bruce's age," Wally frowns.

"Hey, Bruce is only a few years older than me. Look on the bright side, because she outed you, now you can take Wally to those galas so she can't do that anymore," Barry says, taking the newspaper back, "So it works out more in your favour than hers."

"Yeah, babe. I look good in a tux," Wally jokes, nudging Dick.

"You think you're joking, but you actually do. I've been admiring that rare sight for years," Dick says, then smirks. Wally's cheeks are dusted pink.

"Maybe let's not flirt in front of uncle Barry," the redhead laughs.

"I've learned to automatically tune out, it's fine," Barry says, "I've been doing it since I first heard Wally flirting with some poor girl in middle school."

"Am I that bad?"

"Yes," Dick and Barry both respond.

"Watching you flirt is like watching a car crash, it's awful and you want to look away but you can't. So instead of just watching, I intervened a lot," Dick says.

"Because you liked me?"

"My job is to save people. I was saving those poor girls."

"But also because you liked me?"

"Well, maybe there was a little bit of jealousy. But most of the time I got a kiss from the girl instead so it was a win-win for me."

"Richard," Wally puts his hands to his chests in mock hurt, "You dick."

Dick and Barry laugh at Wally's joke, stupid as it was, "You know, Wally, you're pretty much out to everyone now too. I think Barry was the last box ticked."

"Oh my god. You're right, I am."

"Congratulations," Barry says.

"Well, except for my parents. I don't want to talk to them," Wally says, "They never accepted me even when I thought I was straight, so screw them."

"There's no point really in talking to them," Barry says, "If they've forgotten you, it's their loss because the didn't ever realise how amazing their son is."

"Thanks, Bear*"

"I've got to be going soon, I've got a bacteria sample growing back at the tower and I have to check on it," Dick says, glancing at his watch.

"Can I see?" both speedsters ask. Ah, science nerds.

"Uh, sure."
