《lightning - jonah marais》chapter fourteen

The European leg of the tour came to an end, and after taking tons of pictures of the boys with fans you boarded the plane. You sighed as you settle into your seat, pulling out your phone and scrolling through a few pictures you snapped of the boys with a crowd of fans. You smiled to yourself at a particular picture of Jonah smiling while talking to a girl and you nudged his arm. "Hey, look at this picture I took. You look so happy." Jonah looked over and leaned his head against yours, a smile growing on his face. "Send me that once we land." Jonah shifted over and you leaned over onto his shoulder. "I'm exhausted." you breathed and you felt Jonah's head fall on top of yours. "Me too." he yawned. It was a long flight so you let your eyes close and fell asleep on his shoulder, trying to catch up on the sleep you've missed over the past few weeks.
"I have never been so happy to see this couch." Jack said as he fell over onto the sofa. The six of you shuffled into the house, dropping your bags and still tired from the flight. Corbyn pulled you aside and you stumbled a bit, drowsiness affecting your balance. "Woah there." Corbyn said and you chuckled, "Sorry, I'm drained. What's up?" "Are you moving back into Jonah's room? Don't get me wrong, I love having you as a roommate but I figured it'd make more sense since you're together now." he said and it reminded you that you moved out. You didn't even think about it while you were in Europe. "Yeah, I probably will. He hasn't brought it up since we started dating so I didn't even think about it." you said, a yawn following your sentence. Corbyn looked over your shoulder and shouted to Jonah, "Hey J! Come take your girl and bring her to bed!" You shoved Corbyn's shoulder and before you knew it, Jonah picked you up and carried you upstairs. He dropped you on the bed and you were laughing while he stood on the end of the bed smiling at you. You sat up so he was standing between your legs and poked his stomach. "I'm moving back in, right?" you asked and Jonah made the same expression as you did when Corbyn brought it up. "Absolutely you are. I totally forgot." You nodded, "So did I. That's a tomorrow problem, I wanna sleep some more." You threw yourself back onto the bed and got under the covers, patting the spot next to you. Jonah launched himself onto his side and pulled you next to him, letting out a deep sigh and closing his eyes. "Y/N?" he mumbled. "What babe?" "Let's get matching tattoos." You opened your eyes and looked at him, his eyes opening at the same time as if he knew how you'd react. "Of what?" you asked and he didn't say anything, he just kissed you. He pulled back with a goofy smile on his face before answering your question. "Lightning bolts." Your eyes lit up and you nodded quickly, loving the idea. "Tomorrow." you said and pecked his lips. You snuggled back into your spot in his arms and felt sleep taking over you again. "Storms used to scare me, but from now on all I'll be able to think of is you. They're never gonna scare me again." you mumbled into Jonah's chest and he pulled you closer, kissing your head. "I love you, sweetheart." "I love you more, Jo."

Dark Matter
In the year 2023, scientists investigating the nature of dark matter caused a blackout throughout the entire world of Coranth. With this blackout came the appearance of supernatural and near-magical elemental abilities able to be wielded by all. By harnessing the dark matter in the environment, even ordinary humans now accessed powers that would have been deemed fantasy. These abilities include Wind, Fire, Lightning, Water, and Terra, being the five natural elements of which dark matter is absorbed by the planet itself. Additionally, the two moons orbiting Coranth offer the "Superior" elements of Dark and Light. The year is now 2041, and Dark Matter will follow the story of an adolescent boy named Raiden Sullivan in a dystopian future, 16 years old, eldest of 2, and son to Marcus Sullivan. Raiden is an intelligent young man belonging to a poor family with an absentee mother. He partakes in daily chores to cover living expenses after school and his home life is surrounded by his caring father and younger sister. In truth, this is my take on urban fantasy with slight LitRPG that keeps the "magic" elements somewhat scientific for a more realistic story. In using the dark matter surrounding our universe, humans can now harness elemental abilities as well as absorb dark matter from the beasts/monsters to further strengthen their abilities. For the most part, that'll be the main premise of the power system. Full transparency, this will be the first story I write and also the first story I publish, so please be patient with me. For some context, I'm an avid reader and after 4 or so years of only consuming, I feel that it might be time to try my hand at writing instead. Please feel free to add your opinions and criticism, it would be much appreciated. With that said, I hope you enjoy Dark Matter!

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
