《Her Five Protectors》FOURTEEN

Ariana stares at the dark sky in front of her. Her face held hints of endless tears rolling down. Her heart longs for a freedom. She doesn't want to live in this cruel world of lies and pain. There are so many mistakes that she has committed in past and she regrets all of them. She wants forgiveness of her brothers but it is too late. Too late for everything. Nothing can go alright now.
She places her hand on her small belly.
"I am s-sorry." The world ends here for her.
"ARIANA!" He yells her name in the heavy storm. Ariana tries to cease her whimper in. She is imagining things. He can't reach her so soon. He has broken her to this extent that Ariana has her whole strength sucked out. She just wants to end her misery and today no one can stop her.
"I am sorry brothers. I-I hope you will forgive me." She whispers unfortunately she isn't able to hear his footsteps that are nearing closer to her. Without another thought, she moves her foot to take a step.
Suddenly she is yanked back by her hair. A involuntary, pained cry escapes her lips as her body is thrown roughly on the ground. She instantly cover her stomach with her hands as she fell.
"And now what do you think you were doing sweetheart?" Ariana cries as he cups her face roughly in his hands.
"If you wanted to die so badly. Why didn't you told me? I could have helped. I promise I will myself push you off this building one day." He grinned and stroked her broken collarbone. It was his one of ugly creation after all.
"Surprise that why do I am becoming so kind enough that I am promising you your freedom?" He mocks her, amused at the sight of her tears.

"Because I have find something interesting. Even more interesting and intriguing than you! My eyes are set on that and you know that I always get what I want." His hands are literally trying to crumple Ariana and her weak body isn't able to bear much pain.
"You know about whom am I talking about?" He asks her.
"Don't worry baby. Guess you will find out soon."

Athena sulks a little as she bumps into a wall. Her eyes brims with tears and she rubs her nose and looks up to see Alexander standing in front of her.
"Where do you think you are going, little crybaby?" He asks as he glances down at her dress. She is wearing a simple, white cotton knee length dress. For some reason, this pure colour suits her.
"Umm walk out." She whispers softly. Alexander crosses his arms over his chest, intimidating her.
"You mean you are going to take a walk outside?" He asks correcting her. She simply can't mean that she is walking out of the mansion. What if she tries to runaway. That Athena in her mind is definitely planning.
"Right. Come, let's take this walk together." He says while moving out of the door. When he again looks back at her after hearing no gentle steps following him, he raises his brow. Her face has turned paler and that indicated him that she was definitely trying to do something irrelevant.
"Ariana!" He calls her name coldly, perfectly hiding the anger that was bubbling in his chest. Ariana meekly follow after him.
None of the guards stopped them as they walk out of the premises. They both are walking on the sidewalk.
"We really need to work on your speech skills." He murmured. Athena looks up at him confused completely forgetting that there was a pole in front of her. Before her head could bang straight in it, Alexander raised his hand up so her head hit his hand.

"You need to be active. I can definitely see that you have eyes but you don't know how to use it." He tells her. Athena pouts a little at his words.
He suddenly looks down at her and tries to held back his chuckle as he notice her bottom lip sticking out. She looks adorable.
"Can't walk." Within few minutes, Athena is holding her knees. Alexander looks disappointed seeing how much less strength she does have in her body. They were a little away from the mansion.
"Jump on my back." He crouches down slightly. Athena looks up at him with a worried expression.
"Ariana! Do it." Blushing and hesitanly, she slowly jumps on his back and tightly wraps her arms around him afraid that he might drop her. Alexander make sures that her dress is fixed, starts to walk back. He had never imagined that he would find himself again giving piggy back ride to someone who is a exact replica of his real sister.
He used to give piggy back rides to Ariana when she was young. She stopped asking for them when she turned 7. That time the young girl clearly understood that her family holds a special power and it didn't take her long time to fill with ego and pride.
Everyone has noticed this drastic change in her personality. Mostly the reason of it was their parents who died shortly when Ariana turned 10.
"Bro!" Vittorio raised his both eyebrows while standing in front of his older brother. Lost in thought, Alexander didn't even noticed that he is back in the mansion again.
"Is she sleeping?" Romeo asks as he comes out from the front door and steps in the garage. Sure Athena is sleeping soundly. Alexander doesn't even noticed it. He was so lost in thought.
"Where were you guys though?" Vittorio asks confused.
"She wanted to take a walk. So I took her out of the mansion." Alexander grunts lowly in response and Romeo gently helps her off his back. He grabs her in his arms and looks down at her sleeping face.
"I will take her to her room." Romeo says as he lifts her in his arms and takes her inside.

Cheep!?
Charles Monroe survived the disappearance of his parents, did his best to hold things together for himself and his sister. He survived when she, too, vanished, leaving behind nothing but a cryptic note. He was devastated, but he kept moving forward as best he could. Cancer didn’t put him down, and after suffering through several rounds of chemotherapy, Charles Monroe thought that things might finally be looking up. That is, until a virulent strain of ebola swept through the city. With his immune system strained as it is, the odds don’t look good for Charles. It claims that it needs his help and that it can give him a second life, one far away from all the pain he’s ever known. So, Charles answers as any reasonable person would. He says no. Charles isn't ready or willing to die yet. But, as with everything else to this point, even his choice to keep fighting is taken from him all too soon. With no other option but the dark oblivion of death, Charles chooses to make a deal with the spirit of a distant world that's seeking a wild card in its battle against the gods, monsters, and mortals that threaten its existence. Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent

Not your average Bird
Rago didn't have what you would call a good life... Or lives, in his case. For you see, Rago is one of an infinitesimally small number of people that remembers his previous lives. In his first life, he was a young spartan warrior that was killed for being too weak. In his second life, he was a young squire in the courts of Camelot that was tragically killed when his master lost control of his horse, and it kicked him in the head. In his third life, he was a child soldier in Africa that managed to escort a group of children to safety before he was shot in the head by their now ex-captors. And in his fourth life, he spent his entire life in a hospital bed being treated for a currently incurable auto-immune disease. ... But, that's when things changed. He was suddenly brought before an all-powerful being and given yet another go at life... Let's hope things are different this time.

Who Fixes Books Anyway?
On the pretense of a raise, the relatively new employee Pernie is called in to talk with her superiors. NOTE: This is a short story written for a class I took recently. As a result of deadlines, it does not possess the quality (or length) that I would like and is rather thrunkated. Perhaps sometime far in the furture I'll fix it up. For now, I have much more important things to work on, such as my other fiction.
