THIS CHAPTER HAVE NOT BEEN EDITED.
After setting up the silence array formation around Jiang and Han Sheng, which by the way he spends no effort in doing, Fang Mu turned his gaze to the silent Chen and began to pay a bit more attention to him than usual, he couldn't help but to think that Chen had really beautiful eyes and that the kind aura he gives out was also very soothing, Fang Mu began to see him in a new light, he found this friend of the empress elect to be very cute and intriguing.
Once the array made by Fang Mu was put in place, Jiang turned to Han Sheng
Han Sheng had started rambling and Jiang needed him to stop doing that so he cut him off.
Han Sheng was momentarily stunned with the way Jiang addressed him like it was a usual occurrence but then he got over it quickly because even he was getting used to calling Jiang big brother so it's only normal that Jiang reciprocates the feeling, he even felt like his stupid reactions were getting old.
Han Sheng concluded what he had to say.
Jiang while saying this tried to demonstrate his point by shaking his stiff body.
"Didn't big brother hear what the host had said, with this technique it doesn't matter if you can dance or not, comprehending the principles behind the technique should be all that is needed, moreover it should also be relatively easier for air elementals to learn the technique and if my memory serves me right, big brother is an air elemental" Jiang had wanted to continue complaining but this time Han Sheng was the one to cut him off.
Han Sheng seriously said.
Jiang was silent because he really didn't have anything else in mind, he couldn't recite one thousand poems because he didn't even know a single poem, he grew up in the woods and never got such opportunities like normal kids in noble families did, he wasn't a lady so he was never taught things like embroidery, he also didn't know what demonstrating a play meant or would entail, Jiang realized at this moment that due to his upbringing there were a whole lot of things he didn't know about and that at some point when he has the chance and left the eastern palace treasury he would find time to head over to the imperial palace library and increase his knowledge about this world and all it had to offer, he wouldn't spare the mortal world knowledge too because most of the things that they were asked to perform during the emperor's birthday celebrating were actually things mostly done by mortals, it wasn't that Jiang had not heard about this things, he just didn't have the opportunity to learn them and even if he did have the opportunity, growing up surviving was more important to him than anything else.
Moreover, there was something even more important about what Han Sheng had said that struck his heart deeply, it was the fact that this performance by himself and the contestants hoping to win his title might not be as casual as it was intended to be because he might see it as such but that might not be the same for the others and as the emperor's empress elect he didn't want to lose face by lacking behind and having the others do something more extraordinary than himself, Jiang wanted to be the most dazzlingly during that occasion and if this was the way to achieve that then maybe he shouldn't think too much about it.

Jiang's deep thoughts were broken when Han Sheng spoke his next words
Jiang was still very reluctant to comply.
Han Sheng vehemently tried to explain his point.
Jiang groaned tiredly but eventually said
Jiang, although seemed a bit nonchalant after making this decision, wasn't that way in his inner mind, Han Sheng words about the emperor liking to watch people dance for him didn't sit well with Jiang, he couldn't help but imagine the emperor seated on his throne busy watching as girls with exposed big boobs and thin waists were whining and dancing seductively to the emperor's delight, Jiang wanted to be the only one making the emperor delighted about anything since he never saw the emperor express any emotion in public Jiang at some point started to relish in the fact that the emperor's expressions were something only he could bring out in him so learning that that might not be the case really made his stomach churn.
"While you are at it, remember to look out for a birthday present, and then big brother could also include a lovely note stating how thankful big brother is for the gift boxes the emperor sent through Lu Han as well as wishing his Majesty a happy birthday in same note," Han Sheng said, a shy smile playing on his face, his words yet again saved Jiang from the thoughts he was using to kind of torment himself for no reason.
Jiang playfully ruffled Han Sheng hair as he said this.
Han Sheng replied.
Jiang said and then he looked towards Fang Mu's direction, although Fang Mu was presently conversing with Chen, a part of his attention was still on Jiang's duo because he knew once they were through discussing they will need him to remove the silence array since he didn't tell the empress to elect how to do it.
Once Jiang saw Fang Mu look at their direction he gestured to him that they were done here and so Fang Mu did as expected and removed the silence array.
On cue, once the silence array was removed an announcement in the auction hall was made by the host of the occasion
the middle-aged man with the long beard who said his daughter liked to dance was the first to quickly place his bid, soon the hall was filled with people bidding for the item and surprisingly they were quite a lot of people who wanted this first item, for a technique based on dancing which clearly people should look down on, this item was doing pretty well, however, one can not forget the fact that majority of the people present at the eastern palace treasury were not of noble birth while the emperor's celebration will only be filled with the nobles as well as the most powerful and cultured people in Tang Qin Shang.
The price of the dancing fairy technique eventually increased to fifty medium-grade spirit mana stones which was an unexpected outcome, it was only when the bid reached this point that the small crowd initially wanting the item lessened and only two people remained, one was the middle-aged man who apparently was really determined to get the item for his daughter and the other persistent bidder was actually a handsome young man, Jiang wondered what such a fellow will want to do with this type of technique, as a matter of fact, Jiang found the dancing fairy technique quite embarrassing to own but it was just that it came at a time he really needed it to perform at the emperor's birthday and that was the only reason he will ever think to bid for such a girly item that was looked down upon greatly, however, if the emperor's likes dancing then he will just sacrifice himself to please the emperor for that one day, thinking of the expensive gifts the emperor gave him, Jiang was even more motivated to go through with this.

Jiang didn't want to waste any more time listening to these two battle off on ownership of the item since he was determined to own it himself so he decided to step in and let all the farce end, Jiang pressed on an obvious red button which was situated on the table and close to where he sat and then he said strangely the normal voice he used echoed into the general auction hall and all the audience could hear his voice coming out from the private hall which somehow had an effect on the audience since the hall became extremely quiet as compared to before Jiang spoke, some audience members even began looking toward the direction of Jiang's auction room above their heads but although they could locate the room area they couldn't see the people within or identify who the voice that spoke belonged to.
The ten high-grade spirit mana stones were equivalent to one hundred medium-grade spirit mana stones so that meant that Jiang doubled the amount of the fifty spirit mana stones that was lastly placed as the bid for the dancing fairy technique and this was mostly what stunned the audience at the hall for the special auction to silence.
It was like Jiang words had a discouraging effect because even when the host of the occasion said for the third time no one spoke and so the host continued this private room one was Jiang's room.
Jiang was excited about winning the first item of the day but the truth was with the amount of spirit mana stones that the emperor had previously gifted him, he could win any item being sold in the eastern palace treasury without a sweat.
This was just the first item been auctioned by the auction house and such an intense battle to own the item had ensured, Jiang wondered how the rest items been auctioned on this day will be received and as the forest bumpkin that Jiang still was deep in his soul, Jiang was thrilled to watch this all unfold.
The auction continued and since most of the items been called weren't things Jiang or the rest in his room were interested in so they pretty much didn't pay that much attention to them.
Jiang watched as Fang Mu and Chen bonded together, they were talking about arrays which Jiang knew nothing about so he wasn't so much invested in their discussion but he found it amusing how Fang Mu seemed to be super excited when discussing with someone who knew a bit of knowledge about something he was passionate about, Chen had said that he loved reading books and had taken a strong liking to array elementals and the element of energy and construct, Jiang could understand a bit from their conversation that arrays are constructed through intensive energy gathering, although a lot of what has been said didn't make much sense to Jiang so he zoomed them out just in time to hear Han Sheng say
Lu Han expressionlessly cut Han Sheng off thereby resulting in a frown to form on Han Sheng's cute face, eventually Han Sheng got to say what he wanted to after deciding not to break Lu Han neck, which by the way he could only achieve in his mind
Lu Han harshly asked which seemed to annoy Han Sheng
Han Sheng exploded, His cheeks turned pink when he noticed that his outburst had drawn unwanted attention as everyone present in the room was now looking at Han Sheng with a puzzled look.
Jiang decided to break the ice by speaking up Jiang said and Lu Han understood a bit more why Han Sheng had asked out of the blue about the emperor because they were presently auctioning a special wine recipe and this knowledge let Lu Han let out a relieved breathe that he didn't know-how had been holding.
Lu Han knew that he somehow overreacted, he had thought that Han Sheng wanted to know more about the emperor because he was developing a crush for the emperor and this didn't sit well with Lu Han because he already had his eyes set on the small innocent looking sixteen-year-old Han Sheng, Lu Han line of thinking was due to the fact that he had met people who sometimes tried to use him to get to know about the emperor so that they could find their way into the emperor's bed, let's just say he momentarily had a lapse in judgment and thought that the Han Sheng who he had grown to like was among those desperadoes.
Thought before Lu Han could answer Han Sheng's question Fang Mu did it for him Once Fang Mu said this he went back to discussing with Chen and didn't take note of the first angry expression Lu Han had ever shown which was directed at him for stealing his thunder, in Lu Han head answering Han Sheng question would have somehow won him some point but now those points were gone since he wasn't the one that responded to Han Sheng's question, he wished he had done so earlier and not delayed by questioning Han Sheng's actions.
Meanwhile, Jiang's mind was working fast, he didn't need Han Sheng to spell it out for him again, he could get this one of a kind wine recipe and then specially make the wine which he could then gift the emperor as his birthday present, he just hoped it would be up to the emperor's standards, what Jiang didn't yet comprehend was the fact that anything done by his hands and given to the emperor will be seen as priceless and cherished forever.
Jiang places his bid for the special wine and won as usual and then soon it was his own pills that were been auctioned, according to the host of the occasion they were among the last five special items on the auctions list.
For both of Jiang's pills he actually got up to four thousand five hundred high-grade spirit mana stones, Fang Mu nose scrunched up when he summed up the amount, he was clearly displeased by the amount gotten because he understood that the price of the pills was overly underrated in the eastern palace treasury auction but he also understood that this was also a huge amount for this kind of auction.
Unlike Fang Mu Jiang and Han Sheng were clearly happy about the outcome, this was Jiang's first earnings so he offers to take them out to celebrate once the auction was over.
The auction continued and the special items from the no difference pavilion which consisted of a special high-grade cultivation manual which could be used by all elements, a special sword artifact as well as a pill cauldron, all these items where good but none entered Jiang's eyes because he had the best of all these things in his possession.
Soon the auction came to an end and Jiang's spirit mana stones were brought into the private room by the same attendant that had ushered Jiang and Han Sheng in and once all that was done Jiang, Han Sheng, Fang Mu, Chen, and Lu Han filed out of the eastern palace treasury to go and celebrate as Jiang had stated that they would do, also no one was allowed to leave even if they wanted to until said celebration was over.
At some point in time, Jiang became super excited about the two special items he got in preparation for the emperor's upcoming birthday celebration and couldn't wait to learn more about them.

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!
