《Under Investigation》7

Sadie and Leslie parted ways after they landed back in Kentucky the next day. Leslie stayed in Louisville to go to school and Sadie lived almost 45 minutes away in the middle of nowhere.
Mollie lived in the suburbs of the city so all of them were never too far apart.
Sadie still couldn't believe the day she had with Jett. It felt like a dream, but she was really happy to be home.
She had a ton of work to catch up on and the jet lag was not going to be her friend when she had to get up at the crack of dawn.
Her exhaustion seemed to grow as she dragged her luggage to her bedroom and began unpacking. She wouldn't have a lot of time to do it tomorrow, and she knew she was only going to be equally if not more exhausted.
A video chat call on her phone disrupted her thoughts and she picked it up only to find it was Jett. He really wasn't kidding about calling every night.
"Hi," he said when she finally found the nerve to answer. "I'm happy to see you made it home."
Jett seemed to be sitting on his couch, stretched out and pretty much laying down.
"I got in a few minutes ago," Sadie nodded. She had been texting him throughout the day, but not much. She liked to be aware of her surroundings.
"You look exhausted," Jett murmured with concern. "You should go to bed."
Sadie couldn't resist a yawn, "It's the jet lag. I'm just trying to unpack and maybe do some laundry before I go to sleep."
"Alright. Don't stay up too late. I will call you tomorrow." His voice was soft with concern and he flashed her a lazy smile before hanging up after she bid him goodnight.

Rejuvenated a bit by his call, she finished her tasks and went to sleep.
The following day for her was jammed packed with scheduling, mucking stalls, clients. Everything had to be done it seemed.
She had pushed back a few clients for her trip, and she knew that was going to cause a huge surge of work this week.
When she finally caught a break, she decided to take her favorite horse out for a trail ride. He was the first she'd ever rescued. A few of the horses she used for therapy were bred, but she loved rescuing if she could.
The horse's name was Paint because it looked like someone had taken a paint brush and shaken it on him.
He was so gentle and sweet, seriously the best horse anyone could ever ask for. If she had to name a best friend other than her sisters, he would be it. He was the one who started it all.
College wasn't easy for Sadie. She struggled to find what she wanted to do, until a spur of the moment decision had her joining the western equestrian club. Who knew that a moment like that could shape her forever future?
She was exhausted by the time she went in the house for dinner, especially considering she had woken up at 2am Las Vegas time. She wasn't even sure she had the energy to eat anything.
Her phone ringing disrupted her digging through the fridge. She should have bought groceries on the way home yesterday. She was really struggling for some reason. It was like her head was mush.
Jett's face popped on the screen as he seemed to look at her in concern. "Damn baby, no offense but you look even worse today. Are you sick?"
Of course Sadie blushed at the pet name and concern, "Hi Jett. I'm not sick, just had a busy day. How is your day going?"

"It's been good. I had a few meetings this morning about the new season of my show. My first episode is being filmed in southern Indiana so I was thinking that would be a good chance for me to come visit you. I could just drive down after we wrap up."
She couldn't believe he was serious about coming to visit, but she was giddy to be making these plans.
"That would be great. Just text me the dates so I can keep them free, and then if you ended up needing a ride or something," she shrugged.
Jett agreed to let her know. "I'll have to call earlier one day so you can show me your horses."
Sadie couldn't help the wide smile. Wanting to see her horses was the equivalent of a random person cooing about how cute your baby was. "Definitely. Do you like horses?"
Jett shifted the camera, leaning it against something on his dining room table where he was sitting. He was wearing his signature all black with a black baseball hat covering his normally fluffy hair. He was so handsome.
"I've ridden a few times, but haven't been around them much," he admitted. "Will I get to see you in a cowboy hat?"
Sadie chuckled, "Only if I'm going to be in the sun, but usually no."
"Damn. I think you would look really cute in one," his lips twitched with a small smile.
"Maybe if you ask nicely," she whispered, the smile never leaving her face.
