《Slam Poetry》Falling In Love
Advertisement
Like a river flows, surely to the sea.
Darling so it goes.
I don't think this was meant to be.
I thought you loved me.
You hear all these songs about falling in love,
But they don't know what it's like to fall in love with you.
You tore my soul to pieces, my mind to shreds.
Take my hand, take my whole life too.
No, don't touch me.
Leave me alone.
Your hands will only cause harm to me.
You cannot take what doesn't belong to you.
But you did.
Your hands tore the words from my lips before I could even speak them.
Your eyes stole what should have been only mine to see.
For
I
Can't
Help,
Falling in love with you.
But I can.
Your supposed love carved chasms in my skin.
Convincing me that I was far to damaged to be loved by anyone but you.
You thrived in the darkest parts of my mind.
I do not belong.
Shall I stay?
It would be a sin.
The world does not need another marked boy like me.
The world does not need another stain on the fabric of its existence.
The world does not need me.
Wise man say, only fools rush in.
But who's the fool,
Me or You?
The world keeps spinning,
Yet here I stand.
Frozen to every outcry,
To every punchline.
And like a river flows,
Surely to the sea.
Darling so it goes,
We weren't meant to be.
But years from now,
When I am married,
When I have a child, or maybe some dogs.
I will remember you.
Not as my first love, not as my friend.
But as the only person I could ever love and hate at the same time.
For I can't help falling in love with,
You.

Until You Do It Right
The world ended on December thirty-first of the year two thousand and twenty, precisely at the stroke of midnight. The human race began to be systematically exterminated by the spawn of the System. We were given a chance to defeat them, to take back our place at the top of the food chain. We failed. The first to perish were those who bravely rebelled. The soldiers. The defenders. One by one, they fell. In their final moments, they begged for aid. Nobody replied. The next to succumb were those who feebly cowered. The deniers. The leeches. Together, they fell. In their final moments, they cried out into the darkness. Countless voices replied in kind. The last to decline were those who shamelessly ran. The deserters. The cowardly. Alone, they fell. In their final moments, they whimpered quietly. There was nobody left to answer. The final human to die was a survivor. A runner. As he died, he begged for salvation. His prayers were answered. He was offered a chance to save himself, along with all of humanity, and he took it. This is his story. “I sat in the dark and thought: There’s no big apocalypse. Just an endless procession of little ones.”― Neil Gaiman, Signal to Noise. I am absolutely new to writing and will take any and all constructive criticism. Please give feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I will update the tags as they change, and I hope that you enjoy this little story I'm writing! Quick warning: Seamus is intentionally a flawed character, and this story is going to explore those flaws and perhaps even change a few of them. I do not agree with all of his actions, but it is what it is.

There's Always A Catch
Measured, clacking sounds of high-heels can be heard walking towards an elegantly decorated hall; illuminated only by the sun’s rays streaming down from glass panels, grand frescoes decorating its concave ceiling. Two imposing guards stationed at the entrance saluted as she passed by, stopping before the foot of a raised dais. “My Lady.” She reverently said, bowing deeply to the woman sitting on the throne. Eyes lazily opened and a smirk slowly forming on her tinted lips. “So it's time.” ••••• How does one act when luck granted power unimaginable. To rule? Become rich? Murder? Decisions one makes have consequences. And there’s always a catch.
