"Next time you want to see me, make sure you're well fed" Isabella said and slammed the door on my face. I rolled my eyes and walked to the kitchen. I missed dinner and I was really craving some O-ve.

"What are you doing here?" I heard a foreign voice ask. I turned around and saw Mason. How come I didn't catch his scent? He rolled his eyes at my reaction.

"I've found my mate, obviously I won't smell the same" he said and rubbed his face. He almost looked dead

"Stop looking at me like that. You're making me feel worse than I already am" he stumbled over to the refrigerator, opened it and took out a bottle of water

"Aren't you supposed to be back at the pack house?" I asked and he looked at me with disgust. He sat down and gulped the water

"Let me explain this" he started and cleaned the water droplets from his lips "once a werewolf finds his mate, he literally loses half of his soul

"Really?" I asked

"Of course not" he said and frowned "finding a mate is finding your other half. It's worse for werewolves because we're also finding our wolf's other half which in my case...well...is still the same person. Right now, my whole entire being is dependent on her, but I can't be with my mate because of some stupid rules" he said and took another large gulp of water. "If I go to the pack looking like this, I might as well consider telling the whole pack that my mate is the vampire princess" he stood up and walked up to me

"You vampires are so annoying" he said and I rolled my eyes and watched as he walked out of the kitchen

So much paperwork to be done

But I'm still hungry

Arielle's pov

"Can I ask a question Devon?" I asked and took a bite out of the apple

"Yeah sure" he said without looking at me, still flipping through the pages of the big book on his study table

"I've asked before but you didn't give me a satisfactory answer" I said and he sighed. He closed the book and turned to face me. He looked at me for some time, as if reading my mind

"Did that pet boy say something?"

"Well yes he did but..."

"you're never going to listen Arielle" he said and massaged his temples

"no, he just came..."

"You don't have to worry, nothing's wrong. I don't just fell like feeding from you" he said and turned back to the book

"So you don't like my blood anymore?"

"I didn't say that"

"But that's the only sensible reason..."

"Arielle..."

"If you really don't like my blood, then send me back home!"

"Watch your tone Arielle!" he scolded in a calm but firm tone making me shut up. He stood up and faced me

"I'll decide if or not I should feed from you, but about leaving me, you must be really stupid if you want to go back to the family that sold you in the first place" he said and walked out of the room, his gold eyes now red
