《Secret Love (Jolby)》Tear Stained Cheeks

Colby stares at Jake in disbelief, "Wh-What?" he chokes out.
"Are you gay?" Jake asks again, his expression now curious.
Colby stands quickly, his face turning red as he runs a hand though his hair, "What would make you think that?"
Jake stands as well, he walks over to Colby and looks him in the eye, "I don't know, maybe from the way you just acted." he gives the blue eyed man a small smile, but his expression is soon serious, "And because of what happened... and in the tunnel."
The dark haired man throws his hands up in the air, "You did the same thing as me in that stupid tunnel, don't just blame me!" Colby says, his voice slightly louder as he gets more and more frustrated.
"No, No, I'm not blaming you! I just... listen, I saw how you acted in that tunnel. We're friends, Colby, so please just answer the question.
Colby glares at Jake, "Friends don't almost kiss each other, Jake." he sighs and licks his dry lips, "Just go back to your girlfriend, and leave my love life alone." he snaps, his voice angry.
Without looking back, Colby stomps back into the hotel, leaving a dumbfounded Jake behind. His anger carries him up the stairs, and back to his hotel room. Sam is in there alone - Corey, no doubt, is looking for both him and Jake - and looks up from his phone to look at Colby.
Seeing his friends expression, Sam stands from his spot on the bed, "Oh, Colby." he mumbles as he walks over to his friend and wraps him in a hug.

'Go back to your girlfriend...'
Jake plays Colby's angry words through his head as he sits down on the bench him and Colby were just occupying. He clenches his jaw at the thought of Tara, and how he hasn't talked to her since she said those hateful things to him the other day.

Sighing, Jake picks up his phone. His finger hesitates over Tara's number, but he skips it to find the person he really wants to talk to.
The ringing makes Jake regret his call, but he doesn't have time to hang up because the person he called answers the phone.
"Hello?" Reggie's voice goes through the phone and to Jake's ear.
Jake contemplates hanging up, but he doesn't. Instead, he smiles and answers, "Hey, Bro."
"What's up? I thought you guys were still at The Stanley." Reggie says, his voice holding concern for his little brother.
"Nothing really. I just... need to talk to you."
"About?"
Jake sucks in a breath, "Tara... and Colby." he cringes, too late to back out now.
The man hears his brother hum before saying, "Well, shit. Go on then." he says with a chuckle.
Jake sits back and tells his older brother, his best friend, everything. From Tara saying she didn't love him, to what just happened with Colby. He had to suppress a chuckle when Reggie gasped loudly when he told him about the tunnel, and his almost kiss with Colby.
"Okay, that's... wow." Reggie says when Jake finishes, his younger brother grunting in agreement.
"I love that you told me all of this, but... why did you exactly?" Reggie asks after a few seconds of silence.
Jake sighs, 'Now the hard part.' he thinks to himself.
"Im confused about.."
"About Colby?" Reggie finishes. Jake can practically hear the smirk on his face.
"Yeah..." Jake says softly.
The sound of Reggie clearing his voice comes to Jake's ears, "Well, it sounds like you're in a sticky situation." he mumbles, "From what you've told me... it sounds like you're right about Colby."

Jake doesn't know why, but that brings butterflies to his stomach. He clenches his jaw slightly, "What do I do?" he asks quietly.
"First, you need to figure out this thing with Tara. It sounds like she's going through some things. Then, you need to figure out your thing with Colby." Reggie explains.
"My thing with Colby? What thing?" Jake asks with confusion.
Reggie only chuckles before saying a quick "Good luck" and a "Be safe." before hanging up on his little brother.
Jake looks at the phone as he pulls it away from his ear, 'What thing with Colby?' he thinks to himself.

Sam looks at the tear tracks on his best friends face as he sleeps. He can feel the anger intensifying as he thinks about what to do. The blonde knows exactly who did this to Colby, and it only makes Sam angrier. Deciding to take matter into his own hands, Sam goes to grab his jacket off the couch. Right when he's about to put it on, Jake walks through the door. Placing his jacket down, Sam angrily points to the hallway - showing Jake he wants him outside the room so they can talk.
Jake only looks at Colbys sleeping form with worry before he does what sam wants. He walks back out of the door, and waits patiently for Sam.
"What did you do?" Sam says loudly as he walks out of their hotel room, "Why was Colby in tears when he came back to the room?"
Jake steps back in shock, his mouth falling open slightly, "I-I didn't mean to... make him upset." he stammers out, slightly intimidated by Sam's angry state.
The blonde only scoffs and rolls his eyes, "Yeah, right." he steps closer to Jake, "What did you say to him?" sam asks again.
"I only asked if he was gay-" Jake tries to explain, but is cut off by Sam shoving him.
"You did WHAT?" Sam seethes as he gets in Jake's face.
The taller man steps back again, "I don't see why that's so bad, I mean-"
"Not bad? It's bad because maybe he wasn't ready to tell you! Maybe if you weren't so oblivious to his feelings for you, we wouldn't be in this mess." Realizing what he just said, sam looks up at Jake with wide eyes.
It's too late. Jake heard him, and is now in shock. Sam watches as Jake's eyes turn teary before he starts to jog away from the blonde. Sam frowns in confusion when he sees Jake pull his phone out as he runs away.
Sighing and feeling guilty, Sam makes his way back into the hotel room. He hopes Colby isn't awake as he opens and closes the door, feeling the worst that he's ever felt before.

A jackass, a Muscle Wizard, and a woman who just wants to fish. In a Sword & Sorcery type of world, can the jackass be the hero he always wanted to be? Or will his mere presence ruin the lives around him. Main Character's Debt tracker added. What to expect: A slow paced story focused on the characters rather than the fate of the world. Weak Lead, his progression would be slow. Pathetic and dependent, I hate him. :) Upload Times: Tuesday/Friday 7:00Am CST (Would switch to MWF when I have more free time)

The Montreal Exigency
In 1991, Montreal, Canada, an end approaches. Old rivalries clash with new necessities as the fabric of reality strains once more. ___________________________________________ This is my first shot at posting something I've written and a story set in a literary universe that I really want to take places, one of several that's been rattling around in my brain for a few years now. Constructive criticism always welcome, unconstructive criticism welcome with the caveat that I very well might ignore it. Written for Nanowrimo, because why not.
