《"Cause if you're falling in love, let me feel it.》Five

When Josie walks into the gym with the new wolf the next morning I don't even give the girl a second glance, focusing on the way that Josie is wringing her hands together.

She seems extremely tense, and I can't determine why until I put my brain into that extra gear I forget I have most of the time.

Dark Josie. Josie hasn't been under the watch of so many eyes since then and she is probably worried about what is happening inside everyone's head's right now.

I walked up to her after that horribly awkward introduction.

"You alright, you seem a little tense."

She gives me a weird look because although we know each other it's been years.

"Yeah I just haven't been back since... well you know."

"I don't blame you Josie. No one does, you were manipulated, that's not your fault. We know that now."

"Thank you, Cypress." I give her a smile and as I am about to walk away.

"And who's this Jo?" She sticks her chin in the air probably trying to prove something.

I look down at my wolf head ring focusing on its ears. I wonder how much that would hurt to get straight to the jaw.

"This is Cypress Merrick, second in command although she should be first."

I smile, liking that she thinks that highly of me.

"What? Let your boyfriend take the head position for you."

"Not exactly." I chuckle knowing she's testing my reactivity.

"I've seen enough Jo we can go now." Finch says to Josie.

Who talks to someone like that?

Josie gives me an apologetic smile before turning on her heels and following Finch out of the gym.

Yeah this is gonna be a tough adjustment. She has an attitude she hasn't been here long enough to have and it is definitely already pushing my buttons.

Lord knows Jed will want to put her in her place. It'll happen by the end of the week for sure.

It does happen by the end of the week. With a fucking pool game. Jed sucks at pool and lets his ego get the better of him.

I am fuming in the corner of the room when she misses her last shot. Jed doesn't even have time to celebrate before I am pulling him away to my room.

As soon as I get there I grab a much needed blunt before I have this conversation.

I light it and while I take a hit I look up at him, but from the way that he is hanging his head and looking at his feet like a little kid he already knows how this conversation is going to go.

"What the actual fuck was that Jedidiah?"

I'm fuming. I can tell because of how warm I am getting.

"I don't know but I won."

"Are you stupid, because in my eyes it looks like she was killing you the whole game and she missed that last shot. She played you, she used your inflated fucking ego against you to get the better of you, which by the way I thought we were working on."

"We are, I am working on it. I felt threatened. I had to prove the fact that I deserve to be the alpha."

"Jesus Christ Jed, the wolves don't let you be the alpha because you're stronger or whatever you think the reason is, they respect your position because you keep us together. When we're fighting you pull something out of your ass to stop it. Your strength is never what puts you at the top. Remember that and don't let this happen again, now go there's a party for you at the Old Mill."

"You're not coming?" He asks in a timid voice.

"No, I need to talk to Pen." I say as I open the door for him as a clear dismissal.

"I'll see you tomorrow." Letting him know I just need some time to cool off.

"Okay."

He leaves and I shut the door behind him and lock it.

I let out a shaky huff after having to yell at one of the only people I don't want to, trying to calm myself down.

I lay down on my bed and look at the ceiling remembering Theo's words.

If this all goes to shit, take that alpha position.

I warned him to not do it again. Let's hope the point gets across.

I lay down for a while just letting my swirling thoughts slow down. I wait until I am sure that I won't immediately scream into the phone when Pen picks up.

She picks up the phone on the second ring, immediately seeing my mood written all over my face.

"Wow Cy, you know your parents should have named you Sunshine." She says with an all to knowing smirk plastered across her smug face.
