《Soulmates/ Jolby》Chapter eighteen

Elton wakes up in room that is unfamiliar to him. Just as he is reaching for his gun; he remembers where he is.
'I have a fucking pack now.' Elton thinks to himself, a smile on his face.
Elton pulls out the book that one of his hunter friends gave him, and starts to research creatures he has never seen before. Elton has seen many weird creatures, but he hasn't seen all of them. Out of all the odd creatures; Elton wants to see an Elf the most. Elf's are thought of, by humans, as graceful and beautiful; which they are, but they are also cold, and ruthless.
The few hunter friends he has left have told him that all of their encounters with elf's have been brief, and hostile. While elf's are beautiful, they are cold creatures who only think of themselves. The hunter thinks that meeting an elf would give him more information about different kinds of creature; plus he wants to punch one in its egotistical face.
Before he can read any further; Sam comes running into his room. The younger boy looks at his friend apologetically, but gets back to why he is there.
"Colby wants to plan. The library, five minutes." Sam says, not giving Elton the chance to say anything.
Watching Sam leave his room just as fast as he came in, Elton gets up to get dressed. The man knows that the alpha will not except tartiness, so he rushes.
The walk to the library wasn't that long, but Elton still had time to think over some possible plans. Walking into the huge library, all three boys in front of him stare.

Colby believes he's even more stressed out than he was yesterday. The possibilities of the different kind of apocalypse that is going to happen is running through his head.

The alpha looks over to the door, where Sam just came running through, hoping that Elton will come through any second. His hopes being answered, the refreshed looking hunter comes walking through the door; more calm than he was yesterday. The man sits down in his seat that he was in the previous day, and looks at Colby; waiting for him to start.
Colby looks at Reggie, motioning for him to stand. The older man stands, multiple pieces of paper in his hands. He watches the other men in the room for a few seconds before starting.
"So, I've translated a few more pages of the book; 50 to be exact. So far I have found out that there is a secret cult of witches that will cast a spell. The spell will cause people to go crazy. The pages don't mention anything of the type of spell that is used, but I'm sure I can look through my books and find out." Reggie explains, flipping through his papers making sure he hasn't skipped anything.
"When will it happen? Do you know?" Elton asks from his seat.
"I just came across that. . ." Reggie says, pulling the book out of his backpack.
The men watch as Reggie pulls a halfway done piece of paper out, and starts to write again; taking quick glances at the book. Reggie writes for a few minutes before his face goes pale, and the pen he was writing with falls.
"What is it, Reg." Jake asks, pulling brother closer to him.
Colby walks over to Reggie, and takes the paper he was once writing on and starts to read out loud.
"The spell will be casted within one week of this precious book being opened." Colby reads, his hands shaking a bit.

"Colbs, we only have two days left!" Jake says, still holding onto his brother.
The group of men look at each other, and all at once start to run for the door. The run to Reggie's room was short, but when they get inside and see all the different kind of books; they sigh.
"How are we suppose to look through all of these?" Elton asks out of breathe.
"You don't have to." Reggie says coming from behind the others.
Reggie walks over to his multiple books, and picks up only five.
"One for each of us," Reggie explains, handing out all of the books.
The men look at each other once again and smile.
"Looks easy enough." Sam comments.
•••
Sam looks over the paragraph he just read, and makes sure he didn't miss anything important. Ever since Reggie gave them their books, Sam has been in his and Kat's room reading.
'I doubt I'll find anything important in a book called , but you never know.' Sam thinks to himself, a small chuckle escaping his lips.
The vampire is now halfway through the book, and still nothing. Just when he is about to give up; Sam stumbles across something.
"The Insanis spell can either be used for evil, or more evil ( no good comes from this horrid spell). This specific spell is used only with dark magic, and can make any person lose their hold on sanity. No one knows the specific way to cast the Insanis spell, but one key thing is to have unlimited amount of energy." The book read.
Sam is in shock; he finally found something! The only thing to do now is to find out how to stop it.
The man frantically flips the page and continues to read.
"Every spell/curse has a counter spell/curse. The only way you can stop this dark spell is with a light spell. The spell Pura is the perfect counter spell for the job. Pura is the pure spell; cast it on the infected, and they will become 'pure' again."
Sam almost screams with happiness. Before he can do so, he runs for the library; knowing the others will be there.
•••
"Guys, this isn't going anywhere! We have been reading for the past hour!" Jake complains, throwing his book down on the table.
Colby is about to answer when a frantic Sam comes busting through the door.
"Guys! I've got it! I've got the answer!" Sam throws the book at Colby before starting to explain.
•••
"This is crazy! How do we go about casting this spell, Reggie?" Colby asks, looking at the older man.
Reggie runs his fingers through his hair before answering, "The spell has to be casted by someone with pure of heart."
The alpha doesn't have to think about who should cast the spell before saying her name.
"Kat." Colby and Jake say at the same time, the two men look at each other and smile.
"Kitty Kat? Okay, I can see it," Reggie says, rubbing his hand over his chin.
"Great! Now, let's go stop a fucking apocalypse!" Elton screams, raising his fist to the sky.
The other men cheer and follow the hunter out of the library; laughing at their idiotic behavior.
If only the men knew what was going on in the living room while they cheered and laughed.

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
