Imarina's POV

I woke up to hearing talking downstairs, I get changed and go downstairs. I see Elena, Stefan and Damon talking in the parlor with another man. "Aside from vampires, what else?" Elena asks the man.

"The lycanthrope and ailuranthrope" the man states.

"Wait, like werewolves?" Elena asks him.

"No way, impossible, way too Lon Chaney" Damon states.

"Is it?" Stefan asks him.

"I've been on this planet one hundred and sixty some odd years, never came across one. If werewolves exist, where the hell are they? And what is an ailuranthrope?" Damon asks.

"A werecat" I state announcing my presences to them. "I'm Imarina" I say holding my hand out to the man.

"Alaric Saltzman, call me Ric" he says shaking it. "Why do you suspect the Lockwoods? And Imarina?" he asks the vampires.

"Because vervain didn't affect the mayor at Founders' Day but the Gilbert device did and it affected his son Tyler. Also Imarina is not effected by compulsion" Damon states.

"And at the school carnival his uncle Mason exhibited inhuman behavior when he fought with one of the carnival's workers. But Imarina beat him in an arm wrestling competition. It suggests it's some sort of a supernatural entity" Stefan explains.

"Like I told Damon last night, I don't know much about what I am. Only what Jaguar has told me" I state.

"Jaguar?" Elena asks.

"My cat" I clarify. "She speaks to me occasionally, she's the reason I'm in this town" I state.

"We were hoping that Isobel's research could help us find out more" Elena states.

"I'd love to know about what I am" I say nodding my head in agreement.

"Well, all her things are still at Duke. I mean her office is still there. She's technically still missing" Alaric states.

"Can we access is?" Damon asks him.

"Ric, we need to know what we are dealing with" I tell him.

"If this wolf-man thing is true, I've seen enough movies to know it's not good. It means Mason Lockwood is a real-life Lon Chaney and that little Tyler punk may just very well be Lon Chaney junior, which means Bella Lugosi, meaning me, is totally screwed" Damon states.

'No, we protect coven. Mutt won't hurt them!' Jaguar shouts.

"Hey inside voice" I say holding my head.

'Sorry Imarina' she says gently.

"You ok?" Elena asks me concerned.

"Jaguar decided to shout, I'm fine" I assure her. Anyway it was decided Elena and Damon would go to Duke with Ric to look at Isobel's research. Jaguar convinced me to stay behind to help watch over the newbie vampire Caroline as Stefan trains her. Stefan gave me her address and said he'd meet me there.

So I walk there and arrive. I knock on the door and no one answers, but I hear someone inside. "Caroline, it's Imarina. We meet at the carnival, Stefan told me to meet him here" I say.

"It's unlocked" she says and I enter the house.

"Nice place" I say and see her standing in the shadows. "Can't you walk in the sun?" I ask her confused. "Stefan and Damon can, so can Katherine" I state.

"The have daylight rings" she tells me.

"Oh" I say and join her.

"So who are you? Why did you try to protect me?" she asks me curious.

"My name is Imarina, I'm a werecat. Don't yet know what that really means" I tell her shrugging. "But my cat Jaguar, says I have to protect the coven. You're apart of it now" I state.

"I didn't know there was a coven" she says confused.

"Not in the traditional sense, just you are all from the same vampire blood line" I tell her. Just then Stefan arrives with Bonnie. Caroline leads us to her room. Bonnie makes her a daylight ring, proves it worked and left. Stefan then takes Caroline and I to the forest to show Caroline how to hunt animals.

"So what I do when I see the rabbit?" Caroline asks Stefan.

"Chase it, catch it, feed on it" Stefan explains.

"Isn't killing cute defenseless animals the first step in becoming a serial killer?" Caroline asks him.

"You kind of skipped serial killer and went straight to vampire" I tell her.

"Caroline, if you're not serious about all of this I think you should tell me" Stefan tells her.

"No I am. Look, I swear that I am okay? But it's just...I haven't been in the sun for days and everyone is at the swimming hole having fun and Matt is there! And he finally told me that he loved me but I have been blowing him off and now you want me to eat bunnies and I'm kind of freaking out okay?!" Caroline explains. Stefan, Jaguar and I laugh. "Now you both are laughing at me" she says pouting.

"We're not" I assure her.

"None of this is funny, trust me. It's just that, when someone becomes a vampire. All of their natural behaviors get sort of amplified" Stefan explains.

"What do you mean?" Caroline and I ask him.

"I mean...as a human I cared deeply for people, how they felt. If they were hurting I felt their pain and I felt guilty if I was the one who caused it and as a vampire all of that got...magnified" he explains.

"So you're saying that now I'm basically an insecure, neurotic control freak...on crack?" Caroline asks. I giggle and she gives me a pointed look.

"Well, I wasn't gonna say it like that but...hey, listen, let's hunt okay? And then after that we'll go to the swimming hole" Stefan states.

"Really?" we ask him surprised.

"Yeah. Matt is the closest connection that you have to your humanity and I think that being around him is a good thing" he explains. So Caroline catches a rabbit and feeds. She cleans up and we all go to the swimming hole. Where we see Mason driving away, Stefan stares while I glare. Well Jaguar glares.

"Why are you looking at him with your serious vampire look? And death glare?" Caroline asks us.

"Jaguar is not fond of him" I state.

"My what? My 'vampire serious look'?" Stefan asks her.

"Hum hum. I mean it's different from your worried vampire look, neither of which stray too far from your 'hey-it's-Tuesday' look" she explains and I giggle.

"I get it, okay. You think I'm...you think I'm too serious. Is that it?" Stefan asks her.

"I mean I was not gonna say it like that" Care tells him smiling. She goes over to Matt and compels the girl with him to leave. They have a disagreement and he leaves. We approach her.

"Hey, we saw that. You compelled her" I state.

"Yeah, she deserved it" she grumbles.

"Caroline, nobody deserves to have their mind messed. Because you're jealous" Stefan tells her.

"Oh, so now I have magnified jealousy issues, too. That's great" she grumbles crossing her arms.

"He told you this wasn't gonna be easy" I tell her.

"Yeah, well, I might as well have stayed dead. My entire personality is killing me" she states. Stefan and I smile at her. "Shut up" she mumbles. Just then Stefan's phone rings and he answers it while Caroline goes to apologize to Matt. Leaving me alone. I look at the water contemplating going for a swim. When Stefan appears beside me.

"Where's Caroline?" he asks me.

"Went to talk to Matt, why?" I ask him.

"A werewolf bite is fatal to a vampire and it's a full moon. Mason's a werewolf, Caroline and I need to get somewhere safe now" he states.

'No, must find Caroline' Jaguar tells me and takes over my body running into the woods. Once there my bones break and I turn in a jaguar.

Seriously, I liked that shirt I whine. Jaguar ignores me and starts to smell the ground. Stefan appears and looks at us shocked.

"Imarina?" he asks and Jaguar looks up at him. "Jaguar?" he says and she nods his head. "Can you track Caroline?" he asks and she nods her head. Then takes off into the woods and we find her feeding on Matt. Stefan pulls her off of him while I stay in the shadows. "Listen to me. We need to get out of these woods now. We need to leave" he tells her.

A wolf howl is heard and I snarl. "What was that?" Caroline asks.

"Matt, stay down" Stefan instructs. "You and me, we're gonna run with Jaguar. It's going to follow us; we need to lead it away from Matt. You need to run as fast as you can. Do you understand me? Go, go!" he shouts and they take off. Jaguar follows close behind.

"Wait, what is it?" Caroline asks.

"A werewolf, he'll try to kill us and he can. But Jaguar will protect us" Stefan explains.

"Hey! What are you two doing?" Tyler asks appearing at a staircase. Jaguar eyes him warily, he may not of turned. But he could still be a threat. Suddenly a werewolf tackles Caroline and I growl tackling him off of her.

We pull apart growling and snarling at each other. "No!" Tyler shouts and the wolf looks at him. Then runs off. I take Caroline back to Matt leaving Stefan to deal with Tyler. I sit and watch as she compels him to forget her attacking him. When she was done we rejoin Stefan, Jaguar has let me take control. But I'm still a giant cat.

I sit down looking up at them. "What are we gonna do about Tyler?" she asks him.

"I took care of it and I will get Matt on vervain, it'll keep you from being able to compel him and also to keep you from drinking his blood" Stefan explains.

"He is the one person on this entire planet that I never wanted to hurt" Caroline says sadly. I rub against her side.

"It's not going to get any easier. You're just gonna have to work that much harder" Stefan tells her. She smiles patting my head. "So when are you going to change back?" Stefan asks me and I give him a pointed look.

"Stefan I thought you said her clothes shredded?" Caroline asks him.

"Oh right, lets get home and get you some clothes" he says. Caroline leaves us and we go back to the boarding house. I go to my room and shut the door behind me. I turn back painfully and get dressed. I crawl under the covers and fall asleep exhausted.
