《Messy Love》Follow You

'So you can drag me through hell if it meant I could hold your hand.

I will follow you.'

"It's been two days," I say with a pout. I am five wine glasses deep and feeling more than tipsy.

"That doesn't mean anything," Nora says. Her and Chantelle have both come over for wine night.

"Yeah, isn't there some bullshit rule about not ringing for three days?" Anna says.

"Two days of silence after I said we should take things slow Anna!" I protest. "If he felt the same, he would have rung by now."

"Bella this is the 21st century! You message him first, why do you need to wait for a man to make the first move?" Nora is a strong feminist, but right now I wanted her on my side; even though I know she is right.

"Bella...may- maybe he just isn't interested," Chantelle says with sympathy in her eyes.

"Chan!" Anna yells.

"What? I don't want to give her false hope like you two, if he was interested, he probably would have at least messaged by now."

I nod my head sadly in agreeance.

"You should go there," Anna says.

"Hell no!" I yell.

"Yeah, I mean she can't just rock up unannounced," Chantelle says and Anna shoots her a death glare.

"You should just surprise him! I mean you deserve an answer," Anna puts in.

"Guys I am not doing that! Besides I'm drunk, I will make a fool of myself."

"Well it's too late because I have ordered you an uber," Nora says.

"WHAT!?" I nearly spill my wine as I launch at her phone, Nora turns it around to show me the little car on its way, precisely three minutes away. "I am not going there!" I repeat.

"Go change and brush your teeth," Anna says.

"Guys-"

"No! Bella just do this, the worst that can happen is he asks you to leave and then you know it wasn't meant to be, but best-case scenario is you have hot sex until the break of dawn!"

I sigh. Nora and Anna both smile, knowing that they have won. "Fine," I get up and quickly rush to my bedroom, I get out of my pyjamas and into a pair of jeans and a top before quickly brushing my teeth.

"Uber is here!" Nora calls.

I mean he did say that he wanted to see me again on the weekend, but then he never messaged me, now it's Sunday and I'm drunk and about to go surprise him; what could go wrong?

"Sorry I'm kind of ditching girl's night," I say.

"Please, we have caught up enough," Nora says fluffing my straight hair before kissing me on the cheek.

"See you guys soon!" I wave goodbye as I head out to my small red uber.

Once giving my driver the address, I start to freak out a bit. This is a terrible idea; we barely know each other and I'm just popping over without an invitation. He will think I'm crazy.

I roll my eyes at Anna's text, could she read my mind now?

The driver pulls up to his driveway, there are small lights lighting the way in his tiny garden. "Thankyou," I say before getting out the car and closing the door behind me.

I take some deep breaths as I walk up to his door and as I hesitantly knock on it, the door slowly moves open, because it wasn't shut properly. "Tyson?" I call apprehensively.

He doesn't answer me, so I slowly open the door all the way. His bedside lamp is on but the rest of the room is dark. On the ground with his back against his bed Tyson sits with a cigarette in one hand and his leather book in the other. He is clearly distressed as his leg bobs up and down impatiently and his face is red from crying, I think. The apartment is a lot messier than when I was here Friday night.

His breathing becomes erratic so I rush beside him, kneeling in front of him. "Wh-what are you doing here?" His expression is full of shock and concern. His eyes are bloodshot, like he hasn't slept in the last two days.

"I-" Shit, seeing Tyson in this state has helped to sober me up but my head is still spinning a bit.

His hand shakily brings the cigarette back to his mouth and as he takes a drag, the tears pool in his eyes. He blows out the smoke as his whole body begins to shake.

"Hey Tyson, look at me!" I grab his head between my hands, forcing his eyes on mine. "You are safe, you are here with me in your room, I'm not leaving you."

A few tears fall from his eyes as I try to keep his broken gaze on me.

"I'm too fucked up for you, you should leave," he says numbly.

"We all have demons we struggle with; strength comes from how we choose to fight them."

His body stops shaking as his eyes finally focus on mine. "Who said that?" He whispers.

"Me," I whisper back.

"That was beautiful."

"You're beautiful," I smile and he smiles back.

I slowly lean in and gently press my lips against his. They are warm and a little wet from his tears. I kiss him softly, not minding the taste of smoke and mint, I pull back to look into his coffee eyes.

"Don't look at me like that," he says.

"Like what?"

"Like you want to rummage through my soul and put all the pieces back together." He puts the cigarette in his ashtray.

"Would that be so bad?" I whisper.

"What do you think the price is for saving someone's soul?"

I hesitate for a moment. "I'm stronger than you think."

His hand moves to my cheek, his thumb lightly stroking my face. "I can see that, but I will break you."

"Impossible," I say.

"How do you know?" His hand stays on my face.

"Because, I'm already broken."
