《White Lies || Scaramouche X Reader》Chapter 19 - Sweet Dreams

《Your POV》
It was nice finally being able to have some peace and quiet for once. Your past two days were quite hectic. You felt like people were showing up at your door every 30 seconds, it's as if you were the main character in a book or something. The thought seemed crazy to you.
Anyway, with Scaramouche out running your errands, you had some time to research the Fatui, their origins, their archon, etc.
It had been about 2 hours since Scaramouche had left for the market, you honestly started to grow worried. Did he give up on the errands and ditch you? You wouldn't have been surprised if that was the case.
Suddenly, just as that thought left your mind, the door swung open again. You really had to remember to lock your door.
Scaramouche tiredly walked in, his arms full of bags, "Man, you Mondstadt folk are ruthless!" He placed all the bags on your table after closing the door with his leg, since both his hands were occupied.
"What happened..?" You asked, genuinely curious. You hoped he did something stupid so you could laugh at him.
Exhausted, he plopped down on the couch and closed his eyes, "First of all, everything is way overpriced. Second, apparently some people around here despise Fatui so much that they flat out refuse to serve us, I mean, the audacity! I wanted to end them right then and there. But then I remembered I could possibly be locked up forever if I did that, and I'd never get to see your cute face again!" He chuckled, even after basically confessing to you his plan to murder someone.
You were surprised, you'd never heard him say so much in one go. The thought of it made you smile a bit. Turning your chair around to face him, you placed your hands on your knees, "It must be hard being a harbinger, huh?"
Scaramouche shrugged, "I'm used to it. Plus, it's not as hard as you think when you can boss people around all day." He sighed, "Sure it sort of sucks to be shunned everywhere you go, but I guess that's just the small price to pay for all this power. Plus it's not like I care what people think."

You felt awkward having such a deep conversation, but you wanted to get to know the real him, his real thoughts, "And do you ever regret it..?"
He didn't actually answer that question. Maybe you went too far? Even if he didn't respond, you didn't want to pry any further. You were just grateful that he told you as much as he did.
He cleared his throat, obviously changing the subject, "I'll be staying here tonight by the way."
"Wh-" you were confused, "You can't just invite yourself to stay the night like that!"
Scaramouche winked at you, it wasn't really something you'd expect from him but he was full of surprises, "I know you're not against it and you would've said yes eventually. So I saw no point in even asking."
You look away in embarrassment. You hated to admit it, but he was right. You would've caved and allowed him to stay anyway. He really didn't want you to make the decisions for yourself did he? Talk about superiority complex.
"Whatever.."
Scaramouche got up and walked over to the slightly blurred window. The outside was only slightly visible, but not enough to see clearly. It had started to rain, not too much, but enough to want to stay inside. The sun was also going down, causing the blurred sky to be a beautiful pink color.
You wondered what he could possibly be looking at, after all, you could barely see anything through that window.
As you were deep in thought, you stood up and walked over to the table filled with the groceries Scaramouche had brought you, "Hey, do you know how to cook?"
♢♢♢
After a while of you two in the kitchen, the food was finally done. Though, you did most of the work. It's not that Scaramouche was a bad cook or anything, he could definitely hold his own in the kitchen, but he still wasn't the best, especially at complex dishes.
You on the other hand, had a lot of practice cooking, so it made sense why you were better at it than him. While Scaramouche struggled, you couldn't help but laugh at him. Despite his confident demeanor, he really didn't know much about that specific dish. You honestly thought it was cute how confident he was trying to be.

The two of you sat down at the table to eat. It was strange. You never expected you'd be sharing a meal with a Fatui harbinger, and in your own house no less.
After you both had finished every last bite, Scaramouche leaned back in his seat, "Ah, you should cook for me every night!"
"I'm not your personal chef." You snapped back. It scared you slightly, that you were the only person who could say such things to him and he wouldn't get mad. Yet it also made you feel special.
While you got up to clean the dishes, Scaramouche seemed to be dozing off. Was he that tired? He was around people all day, maybe he was an introvert?
You turned to him, "You can take the bed, I'll sleep on the couch." You wanted to avoid any unnecessary situations as much as possible.
"Why don't we just both use your bed?" He innocently asked. The fact how innocent he sounded terrified you.
You just looked at him, not answering.
Scaramouche sighed, walking up to you and then raising his right hand as if he were taking an oath, "I promise I won't do anything you don't want me to do."
He seemed genuine. Plus, you were trying to learn how to trust him, so this would be a good first step. You started walking towards your room, "Fine. But if you do so much as to touch me weird, I'll kick you out."
Scaramouche nervously laughed, almost as if he was intimidated by you. You could definitely tell that your personality around him now was very different from when you were first traveling together. You wondered what had happened..
♢♢♢
"Stay over there," you ordered, pointing to the other side of the bed, "And don't cross this line." You pointed to the invisible line in the middle of the bed.
Scaramouche reluctantly sighed, you remembered how he wasn't ever used to people telling him what to do, he probably wasn't used to it. He was used to ordering people around to do his bidding. It made you laugh a little to think that you were the only one who could act like this to him.
Both of you got into your bed. It was very awkward at first, but Scaramouche finally broke the silence.
"Y/N, is this your first time sleeping with someone?" He asked.
You automatically became a flustered mess, sitting upright and looking at him, "D-DON'T SAY IT LIKE THAT. WE ARE SLEEPING AND THATS IT."
Scaramouche chuckled gently, like he was amused at your reaction, "What ever do you mean?" He mischievously smiled at you.
You angrily laid back down. Quickly after, you felt a pair of arms wrap around you.
"Hey-"
"Shh," Scaramouche had wrapped you in his arms. You could feel his breath on the back of your neck. It was strange.. it was almost a comfortable feeling, "I won't do anything else, just let me do this."
You sighed. It's not like he was pushing any of your boundaries. Plus, you kinda liked it. It felt safe and warm. Obviously you were really flustered, after all, it was your first time "sleeping with someone".
Not only that, but he was your first lover as well. You never thought about romance before he came along. You found it ironic how your lover happened to be Fatui, the group of people you hated more than anything.
A sudden thought popped into your head, "Hey Scaramouche, what are we going to do once you have to leave Mondstadt..?"
He didn't say anything but you knew he was intently thinking about the question. Then he spoke, "I don't know yet.." you felt him squeeze you tighter, almost as if he was scared to let you go, "This is new to me too. We'll just have to figure it out as we go."
It's true, you expected him to know all the answers, after all, he was very intelligent. But he claimed to be new to romance as well. At least you weren't alone in that.
"Goodnight Scaramouche." You said, an exhausted tone in your voice, like you could fall asleep at any moment.
"Sweet dreams, Y/N." He responded. And like that, the two of you drifted off to sleep.
