《The Guy Named Harrison: Book One》7

They talked over the weekend, and Carrie had said whatever it was she needed to tell him about wasn't hopefully going to interfere with their relationship. He felt better after that.

Could they even be classified as a couple yet? Did they have a relationship yet?

Tonight was going to be important for the two of them.

He was only sitting in the airport for a few minutes before she found him. As he stood up, she embraced him in a hug. The hug didn't last very long due to the fact that something brushed against his leg.

"That's just Gary," she told him with a quiet giggle.

Gary now sat just beside his leg with his tongue sticking out the side of his mouth. "He always does that."

Harrison took her bag for her as they started to exit the airport. "I have a German shepherd named Wilson and all he does is eat bacon."

"Smart dog."

They both laughed while he loaded her bag into his truck. "Where's your other car?"

"It's at home. I don't like driving it in the rain."

She hopped into the passenger seat with Gary. For the 15 minute ride to her apartment, she gave him directions. As they got closer, her heart began to beat even harder. How am I going to tell him what I went through? And what is he going to say?

They pulled into her apartment complex. Harrison once again took her bag as he followed her and Gary to her apartment. The apartment was a lot bigger than he thought it would be.

It had two bedrooms. One was hers and she used the other as her office. The kitchen was fairly large for an apartment and she had a lot of space in the living room as well as having a large bathroom.

"I like the place," he admitted.

The walls were all white, but mostly covered with pictures. He guessed she didn't have time to paint yet.

Carrie threw her bag in her room, telling herself she would unpack it later, and to keep her from stalling. She had to tell him tonight.

Walking back into the living room, she stopped and grabbed the bowl of grapes out of the fridge before joining him on the couch. Carrie stretched out and he allowed her to rest her feet on his lap as he stole a few grapes.

"So what is it you need to tell me?"

Carrie ran a hand through her hair and took a deep breath. She opened her mouth to say something, then closed it. "Carrie, you can tell me."

She nodded. "You know who Alex Jones is?"

"Yeah, he was a tight end for the Chargers right?"

"Yep. And you know why he's in jail?"

"Yeah, didn't he get charged for sexual assault or something along the lines of that?"

Then the realization hit him. Harrison placed a hand over his mouth. "Oh my gosh Carrie."

She leaned her head against the couch. "That was me."

There, she'd told him.

His right hand still didn't leave his mouth as he set the bowl of grapes on the coffee table. "I'm so sorry."

Harrison instantly understood everything. She didn't kiss him because she was afraid he'd do the same thing. He didn't give her a reason yet to not believe he was one of them.

He crawled over to her and slipped between the back of the couch and her body. "Carrie, you deserve so much better than him. I hope I can be the one to give you what you deserve. But I understand if you don't want me the way I want you. I'll respect that. Just know I'm not like him, and I'll never hurt you like that. I'm falling for you. I want to be the man you deserve."

She smiled. He washed all her concerns away. Very slowly, her face inched closer to his until their lips touched. Carrie leaned against his chest as they kissed, allowing him to place a hand on her back, keeping her close to him. He deepened the kiss as she placed a small hand on his cheek.

Harrison gently ended the kiss. "Nobody's ever going to lay hands on you like that ever again. Not even me. Unless you want me to," he added with a small smirk.

Carrie laughed and playfully pushed at his chest. "Not gonna happen anytime soon hotshot."

He reached across her body to grab the remote that sat next to the bowl of grapes on the coffee table. "What do you want to watch?"

"I don't care. You can pick something on Netflix if you want."

Even better. "If you don't have a movie in mind, we'll watch a favorite movie of mine, American Graffiti."

"What's it about?"

He got up. "You'll see. Now do you have any popcorn?"

"In the cabinet to the left of the fridge. I didn't think you eat popcorn. Most of you players have strict diets."

Harrison put the popcorn in the microwave. "I'm on a diet. Right now, I don't really care. I can burn the calories off tomorrow."

The popcorn finished popping. He dug around through her kitchen and found a bowl before bringing it over. Then he started the movie.

Throughout the movie, she laid on the couch with her head rested against his shoulder and occasionally dropped a piece of popcorn on him. That was until she fell asleep. Harrison then adjusted a pillow behind her head and let her lay her head in his lap.
