《I'm A Krieger Harris》Chapter Eleven

- Paige's POV -
It's now December seventh, and we just landed in Denver for camp. Yes it's fucking freezing but my girlfriend told mom's how to pack. I still haven't said a word, and everyone is super worried, especially Mal because I've been distant. We just arrived at the hotel as well.
Our stuff was taken to our rooms since we don't know who we're rooming with until Jill tells us. I'm sitting in the corner of the hotel lobby on the floor since I always do that and I'm looking down at the floor. I feel someone sit down beside me, wrap their arms around me, and pull me into them. I know this embrace to be the embrace if Mal. "Hey, baby." She whispers and kisses my temple. "I'm so sorry." She whispers and I just shake my head slightly. "We were the last ones to get in. The meeting is about to start." She says and helps me up.
After the team meeting, we have team dinner and then we head up to our rooms. Mal and I are rooming together so that's cool. I can't even explain how bad I kinda wanna talk, but I just can't.
Tomorrow is an off day so we can get settled in, so I decide to just go to bed early. Well I mean it is ten but I usually go to bed later.
Dream/Memory
All I did was ask him how he was. I guess he's had a bad day. But he's gonna... Again.
"How am I? HOW AM I? I'm fucking done with all the bs around school. I'm done with fake people. Ya know what I could use right now?" "N- No..." I stutter. "You." He says and walks closer to me before pushing me down pretty forcefully on his bed, takes off all of my clothes except my underwear, and handcuffing both of my hands to the headboard. "Look at that pretty body." He says as he gets up off of me and takes off his shirt. "Don't let anyone tell you you're not beautiful. They're blind I they don't see your beauty." He says as he undoes his belt and slides it off. "Please no." I say but he ignores me and takes off his jeans. "Look at me baby." He says as he's taking off his boxers but I don't look down there. He walks around the bed to where he's beside me. "Suck me." He says and I shake my head. "Suck me you bitch." He says and forces it into my mouth. "Suck it." I do as told and he ends up releasing in my mouth. "Oh baby." He says. I don't like this at all. I watch as he pulls a condom from his bedside table drawer and puts it on. He then straddles me before forcefully kissing me. He forcefully enters my mouth without me wanting him to. Before much longer, he forcefully enters me.

- Mal's POV -
I wake up to the bed shaking and Paige is tossing and turning.
"Pai." I say trying to wake her up. "Paigey." I say and poke her gently. "Paige." I say and shake her and her eyes shoot open. She's crying and she just holds on to me tightly when she sits up. "Sh, sh, sh. It's okay. You're safe. Sh. You're okay. I'm here, babygirl. I'm here." I whisper, trying to calm her down and running a hand through her hair. "It's okay." I whisper. After a little bit, I feel her body go limp and her breathing even out. I know she's asleep so I carefully lay us back and look at the digital clock beside us that reads three AM. I can't sleep now because I'm so worried about her. Like what was that nightmare about?
I decide to get up around nine after six hours of just laying there and thinking. I gently get out of her arms and make my way to the bathroom with clothes. I take a quick, quiet shower before getting dressed and drying/brushing my hair, just to throw it up in a bun. When I exit the bathroom, I toss my dirty clothes into my bag and look towards the bed to see Paige sitting against the headboard with her knees to her chest.
"Hi baby." I say as I walk over to her. She looks at me but doesn't say anything. "Are you okay?" I ask. She shakes her head slowly. "Well are you hungry? It's almost time for breakfast." She doesn't move. "Paigey you gotta eat something." I say with a small frown. She rolls her eyes and gets up. She holds up four fingers then points at me. "Good." I say. She gets ready then we head downstairs. She gets her food and sits down at a corner table and starts eating and I get my food while talking to Ash.

"Has she opened up or anything yet?" "No, Ash. I should be able to get her to, but it might take a while. She did have a nightmare at like three this morning but I calmed her down. I don't know what it was about but I'm seriously worried." I say. "Okay. And we are too, kid." She says then we part ways and I go and sit with Paige.
"Hey Mal, Paige." Kelley says with a small smile as she walks past our table. I smile at her and Paige just slightly waves.
Once done with breakfast, we head back to our room. We sit on the edge of our bed and I take Paige's hands in mine.
"Paigey, we're all really worried about you. You haven't said a word since your moms and sister found you after the shooting. You've been really distant from all of us. We miss seeing you laugh, seeing you smile. We miss the happy you. We're all here for you and we all love you. Baby, we feel like you're not here at all. We know your here, but you're like, not here. We know that what happened was scary and life changing, but if you don't talk to us, we can't help you." I say softly and Paige is tearing up a bit. "Baby please talk. I miss your voice. I really wanna help you." I say and she looks away as a tear runs down her cheek.
"I- I'm sorry." She says. "Don't apologise." I say and gently moves her chin with my finger to where she's looking at me. "We just didn't want you shutting completely down, baby." I say and wipe her tears.
"It's okay." I whisper as I hug her.

Whatever End
The fight is over, the enemy destroyed, the world is saved… technically. “Stand Fast!” The general called over the din of battle. “We will hold this line! The future depends on us! To whatever end!” Richard believed him, and that’s why he had bound his soul to the Arcstone, in hopes of containing the rift forever. If only he had learned more before making that final sacrafice. When the battle is done, and the world is ‘saved’ what happens to those left behind? And.. what should he do, now that it’s over? Cover art by gej302

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.

The Paradox Prophecy
Thousands of years ago, an alliance between the races of Idoras and the mighty dragons, saved the world from destruction. After many years of relative peace, a dark evil emerges. Aalya, a young girl from the small kingdom of Avani, meets the young Prince Alexandar. When chaos reigns on their peaceful home, Aalya and her friends gear up for an adventure that could very well determine the fate of all life in Idoras. I haven't completely fleshed out the prophecy yet but I wanted to include it because it is an important part of the story. I have decided it would be better to spend some time figuring out the world I am creating and work out all the kinks in the story. I have done a lot of editing in the first seven chapters already. For now, updating will be scarce. I will post all of part one once I am happy with what I have written. I will leave what I have up, but please let me know what you think. I do not own the image I used for the cover.
