《Mrs. Maximoff》Three

"I have never been so nervous in my life! It was looking into Medusa's eyes and I was turned into stone!" Jules was ranting about her interview with Mrs. Maximoff, and as much as I wanted to listen to her I couldn't stop thinking about what happened in that office.
"Wait. What if she actually is Medusa and she turned her father into stone so that she could get his job? That's probably how she did it." Jules immediately slapped her hand onto her mouth, whilst I just shot her a weird look.
"What do you mean?"
"Nothing, I was just joking. Let's go grab that coffee, yeah?" She tried to avoid my question, and even if I decided to leave it, there was no way I was going to keep it that way.
We walked to the nearest coffee shop and sat down at one of the tables outside since it was a little too warm for us inside.
"What did you mean before?" I questioned Jules right after our orders arrived.
Her eyes opened wide and I could tell she was getting a little nervous.
"Look, Jules, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to, I'm sorry if I made you uncomf-"
"People are saying she killed her father," She started, making my breath hitch in my throat.
"She wasn't working for a while and it was known that she really wanted to take her father's place. His death was so sudden, the doctors said he was completely healthy before he died. She wasn't even at his funeral..." Jules continued, and as she did I kept feeling shivers down my back.
She said that nothing of the things people have been saying is true. But that's what every guilty person would say, no?

But also, why would she tell me?
"You know people like to make up things about people in power, especially when it's about women. They can't accept that now a woman has the same power as a man once did."
"She wasn't at his funeral, Y/N. What kind of daughter wouldn't attend her own father's funeral?"
"Maybe she was busy. She was the one that inherited his empire, it probably wasn't easy."
"Isn't it strange that she also fired everyone? It doesn't speak to you?"
"No, why would it? She needed new people, that's all."
Jules nodded at me in defeat, taking a sip of her coffee. I was about to do the same thing when my phone rang.
It couldn't already be her.
I released a big breath when I read my best friend's name.
"Morgan, what's up?"
"Where are you?"
"Uncle Ben's coffee shop, why?"
"Really, Y/N? Our rivals? You know our cappuccino is better than theirs."
"Shut up."
"I'm coming there! You have to tell me everything about the interview, and I have news for you."
"Fine. I'll see you in a bit."
"Sorry, that was my best friend Morgan. They're a little annoying," I told Jules while I put my phone back on the table.
"It's fine, don't worry."
Jules and I kept talking and found out we actually have a lot of things in common: we listen to a lot of the same artists, we watched a lot of the same tv shows, and we both hate the beach. That was quite random, but it was true.
"Hey," Our chatter was interrupted when we heard Morgan's voice. They took a seat next to me and I noticed them staring at Jules for a few seconds.

"Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Jules," she held out her hand and Morgan quickly shook it.
"Morgan," their eyes couldn't leave Jules, and that was when I knew that I would have to ask them some questions later in the day.
"So, how did it go? I'm assuming you had an interview too since I've never seen you before," Jules nodded at them before we both started talking about our interviews, sparing the details about our latest conversation.
I didn't tell Morgan everything that happened, I was going to save it for when we were back home, mostly because I didn't want to talk about it in front of Jules since I'd known her for a couple of hours and she also tried out for the same job as me, so I don't know how she would react if I told her.
"Well, I'm glad it went okay considering how tough she is," Morgan admitted. "Y/N, remember that I told you I have news?"
"Yeah, sure. What is it?"
"My parents are having a fundraiser event at the mansion tonight, they really want you there."
"I'm sorry, you have a mansion?" Jules spoke, sounding rather impressed.
"Well, my parents do. Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, ever heard of them?"
"Holy shit! That's why you looked kinda familiar, you're their kid!"
"That's me. You can come too if you want, the more the better. It's at 8, at the Stark mansion, of course."
"I'll be there," Jules assured Morgan, and they looked quite satisfied.
Oh, was I going to tease them about this.
"Well, I guess we better get going then, it takes me ages to get ready for this kind of event. If you want, we can exchange phone numbers so that we can keep in touch."
Jules was a fun person to be around, and considering we both might get the same job, it would be great if we became closer, it could also be some kind of support system at work.
She gave me her phone number and Morgan and I walked out of the cafè, and I immediately poked their arm.
"You like Jules, don't you?"
"Shut up before I throw you on the street with a sign saying "kick me" on your back."
"You totally like her."
