《Light (Pietro Maximoff x Reader)》Part 12

So before You read this I just wanted to thank you for being a part of this journey with me. This has been 10 months in the making from the time the idea sparked in my head until this very moment. It has been quite the experience and I can't wait to do it again because I enjoyed every torturous second of it. There will be an Epilogue after this but for all intensive purposes this is the end of this book (not necessarily the end of Light and Pietro's story) and I hope you have enjoyed this story as much as I have. I'm not sure when the Epilogue will be up or even when it will be finished but it will be sometime before June. I am also working on a few other stories, so keep a look out for those. Anyway I'll shut up now. Part 12!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Six months. That's how long it had been since Y/N and Pietro last spoke. She had been trying to avoid him like the plague, though she found it to be a lot easier said than done. At first whenever she walked into a room where he was she would just turn around and walk back out. She was still hurting from what Pietro had said but six months later and she could at least tolerate to be in the same room as him. Which was a wonderful thing since it was the day of Tony and Pepper's wedding and Y/N was not going to let anything ruin this day for her dad and Pepper, even if it meant being around Pietro.
The night before had been fun, lots of relaxing, a few drinks, a lot of jokes but that morning was more than hectic. From the time Y/N opened her door all she could see were people running from place to place, like chickens with their heads cut off. It was quite the sight. Not to mention she could hear her father directing people where to go and to say he sounded tense would be an understatement.
Y/N could count on one hand the number of times she had seen her father nervous. He wasn't a man that got nervous or at least didn't let on that he was but today, you could hear it in his voice. She knew there wasn't much she could do so she made her way upstairs to find Pepper.
She wasn't hard to find, as she was still laying peacefully under the covers of the bed. Y/N walked over and lightly shook Pepper in an attempt to wake her.
"I'm already up. Please no more shaking or I'll be sick."
"Hungover?"
"Nervous."
"About marrying Dad? Or about Marrying Tony Stark?"
"Tony Stark."
"Yeah, being a Stark can be kind of daunting. Anyway I can help?"
"Go back in time and tell me to say no."
"Do you not want to marry him? I can go down right now and tell him, he will be fine with it."
"It's not that. It's just a little nerve racking is all."
"Well, I'll be there if you need me for anything. Now come on, time to get up. You need to get ready for your wedding." Pepper slowly moved out of bed and toward the bathroom to start her day.
Before long Y/N and Pepper were ready with less than an hour until the ceremony.
"You look even more amazing now than you did the first time you had that dress on."
"Thank you. And you look stunning. Thank you for doing this for me."
"I would do anything for you Pepper. I mean where would I be without you? Really where would Dad be without you? He would be lost and he would have forgotten me at daycare or something."
"You never went to daycare for that exact reason."
"See. We would have been lost without you and I'm glad you're finally getting married."
"You know, I was worried about it this morning but now, I'm glad too. You're next."
"Not likely."
"Oh goodness when are you two going to get over yourselves and say you're in love with each other."
"Don't you remember? I did tell him I loved him and he rejected me. I won't be doing that again."
"If you say so Y/N. But just remember if a happy ending finds it's way to you, don't run away out of fear."
"I won't."
"Good now come over here and give me a hug." Y/N hugged Pepper tightly, hoping that the rest of the day would go smoothly.
The two women pulled apart, then there was a knock on the door. Soon Tony's voice could be heard from outside.
"I know I can't see Pepper but I would like to see my daughter for a few minutes if you can spare her." Y/N smiled at Pepper and walked to the door, moving quickly as to not reveal the bride to her groom. Once the door was shut firmly behind her Y/N turned around and wrapped her arms around her father.
"Hey Dad, what's up? Need a pep talk before you go out there?"
"No Light. Actually I'm here to give you a pep talk."
"Oh? What for?"
"For tonight, for Pietro."
"Oh."
"Yeah. So I'm just going to get straight to the point, do you love him?"
"Uh.."
"It's yes or no Y/N. Do. You. Love. Him."
"I don't know."
"Yes you do."
"Okay I do know but after what happened, I don't know if I can handle loving him. He hurt me and I am trying to move past it. I am occupying my mind with other things like books and S.W.A.T. and it seems to be working. I don't want to be the girl whose whole existence is based around some guy and when I'm with him that's how I feel. Stepping back from it all, that's how I see it."
"I can see that. But you are in control of that. Remember that, you are the one in control of who you are and you don't need to base your existence around him. But you do love him and you don't need to let that go. You can have both. You can be in love with him without having you existence and your happiness based around him."
"I get it. So what do I do?"
"Whatever makes you happy. If you want to wait around for him to be ready then do that, work on the things you love and wait. If you don't want to wait and you just want to tell him then do that. If you don't want to be with him at all, even though the thought of living without him kills you, then do that. Whatever you do, just know that I will always love you and support the decision you make." Tony hugged his daughter close. "Even if I think it's wrong." The two laughed and pulled away from each other.
"Thanks for the talk Dad. You should head out, it's almost show time."
"I'll see you out there my Light." With that Tony walked away and Y/N turned back and walked back into the room where Pepper was sitting on the bed trying to calm herself down."
"Are you ready Pep? It's show time."
"I have never been more ready. Let's go before I change my mind."
Together the women walked towards the Balcony where the Ceremony would take place. Y/N was nervous, what her father had said to her really stuck with her and she really had no idea what to do. Her mind was adrift with thought when they got to the doors.
"Alright, I go first. If I leave, do you promise you will come out?"
"I promise Y/N. Now hurry up so we can get a move on with this thing." Y/N put her hand on Pepper's shoulder for a moment before grasping the flower's tightly in her hand and making her way down the aisle. The look on her father's face was enough to send her into a fit of smiles and silent giggles. He looked happy and proud and nervous and excited all at once and she didn't know her father was capable of such an expression. When she made it to her spot, she turned around to watch Pepper make her way down the same path she had just taken. She looked as nervous and excited as Tony did and it brought happy tears to Y/N's eyes. All she ever wanted was for her dad to be happy and this, marring Pepper, that's what was going to make him happy and she couldn't be more ecstatic about it.
Once Pepper made it to the alter, everything else seemed to fly by. The vows were short and too the point, and soon everyone was filing out to the reception area to celebrate the newlyweds.
A few hours later, dinner had long since been over, the cake cut, speeches given, and it was now time for the couples first dance. They had elected to wait until now so that they could enjoy it without worrying about everything else. Y/N walked up to the piano as the couple took the floor. As she began to play, she remember the day she had played the very same song for Pietro, the second time they had kissed. She remembered yelling at him, being heartbroken and distraught much like on New Year's. She began to think that maybe this had been just as hard on him as it had been on her.
The song came to an end and Tony gave Pepper one last twirl as Y/N stood up from the Piano bench and walked to another corner of the room to straighten out her thoughts. She wasn't there long before Clint came up to her, holding out his hand.
"Come on little Starkling, let's have a dance." Y/N looked up and took his hand and he led her out to the dance floor. She always loved talking to and spending time with Clint, he had such amazing stories and when he talked about his kids and his family always made her want to have her own some day. So instead of letting her mind fill with thoughts she just danced and listened to Clint talk. It relaxed her.
Pietro stared at Y/N as she danced with Clint her smile just kept getting bigger and her laugh kept getting louder as the song went on and her dance partner told her more stories, probably about his kids. Steve and Tony made their way across the room to stand next to the speedster. Steve spoke up first, "You two have been dancing around each other for a while. You should stop that. Don't waste time watching her laugh when you could be the one causing it."
"I can not do that. I do not know how to handle what I am feeling and I do not even know what I am feeling. I do not want to hurt her or myself." Tony shook his head, it was time to give this boy a push and he was going to have to be the one to do it.
"That is what love is boy. Don't worry Cap, I've got this one, go find Sharon and dance a while." As Steve walked away Tony turned to Pietro and began to speak again. "When you're in love, you don't know what way is up when you're with them and there is no better feeling in the world. You are going to get hurt because love hurts you but it's a good hurt I swear. And you will figure out how you feel and how to handle it as you go along. She will help you. I mean she has saved your ass before hasn't she?"
"More than once, but after what I did on New Year's I do not think she will ever forgive me, she should not ever forgive me."
"You're right she shouldn't but she already has. She forgave you the moment she walked away because she loves you. The reason she hasn't spoken to you is because she doesn't want to be the one to cave, she doesn't want to show you weakness again and have you hurt her..
"What about Wanda, I do not want her to think I am replacing her."
"Don't worry about Wanda, she can handle her own and her and Vision are very compatible on an intellectual level, they enjoy the company of the others mind. Besides she has been pushing you two to get together since you first looked at each other. "
"I do not even know if I love her for sure."
"Speedy don't play dumb the whole world can tell you are in love with my daughter, except, well, you and my daughter. Now stop coming up with excuses as to why you shouldn't be with her."
Pietro was quiet for a long time. Tony Sighed and began to walk toward his new bride when Pietro spoke up.
"If I am in love with her then, what do I do?"
"You go over to her right now and you tell her. You tell her everything you have been feeling about her and then, I wouldn't advise it to just anyone but I know my daughter well, once you have confessed how you feel she will start to tear up then you take her face in your hands and you kiss her like this is your last moment on earth."
"Thank you for the advice Mr. Stark."
"Anything I can do to help my little Light be happy I will do. Now hurry up before she finds someone else to kiss goodnight." With that Tony pushed the young man forward. Pietro stood still for a moment, took a deep breath, turned to Tony then walked towards Y/N. She was still dancing with Clint. He took another deep breath and tapped her on the shoulder. Y/N turned around and was shocked to come face to face with the man she had been actively avoiding for six months. Pietro kept his eyes locked on hers as he spoke.
"May I cut in?"
"Of course, Clint is all yours." She started to walk away when he gently took hold of her wrist.
"You know what I mean Y/N."
Clint cleared his throat and spoke up. "Yeah, you two should dance, I should go see how Laura is doing." Clint rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly and walked away.
"See, you and I need to talk."
"I don't need to talk to you, I said everything I needed to say on New Year's Piet."
"You are right and you may not need to talk to me but I need to talk to you. Please, just dance with me and let me tell you what I need to tell you."
"Fine, but go slow and don't step on my feet." Pietro took Y/N's hand then slipped his hand onto her back, pulling her close.
"You I can not promise about your feet but you do not have to worry about me being slow because I want to savor every second with you."
Y/N sighed and rested her free hand on Pietro's shoulder, and began swaying to the music.
"Alright Piet, enough with the sweet talking, say what you have to say so that I can go back to pretending you don't exist."
"Is that really what you have been doing? Pretending I do not exist?"
"Honestly?"
"Honestly."
"No. I have just been avoiding you like the plague, which is extremely difficult mind you because we live in the same place."
"Is it wrong of me to be glad it was so hard for you?"
"Yes. Especially since it's your fault we are in this situation in the first place. But for real, say what you need to say. Your sister is staring and it's kind of starting to worry me." Pietro laughed and pulled Y/N as close as he could.
"I have missed your voice. I have missed everything about you really. These last few months have been torture for me. I know I hurt you that night and I know that everything that happened was my fault and I have no one to blame but myself. I was scared. I was absolutely terrified because I love you. I have loved you since the day we went sliding around the 6th floor. That scares me. Being in love terrifies me because I have so many burdens that I am carrying, one of them being that I have yet to forgive your father for what happened to my parents, and I do not want to weigh you down with these things. I am scared that Wanda will think I am replacing her, that is how she felt before when I would so much as look at another girl. I am an Avenger and what I do is dangerous and I do not want you to worry about me when I am gone. I have so much worry about being in love with you. I try my hardest not to love you. But then when I look at you, it is almost like the world stops spinning. I can not think, I can not see straight, I can hardly breath. I have spent my whole life running and racing from one thing to the next, even before my enhancement. When I am with you, I want to savor every second with you, I walk slower because I do not want our time together to end. I am so in love with you that I thought the best thing for you was to push you away. Even though it ripped my heart out and I know it hurt you too, I thought that in order for you to be happy and safe, you needed to be without me."
"Oh Piet." Y/N laid her head on Pietro's chest and wrapped her arms around his waist. He then wrapped his arms around her shoulders and pulled her close.
"I am so sorry Light."
"I know."
"I am an Idiot."
"I know that too."
"Your father said I should kiss you now."
"Well then what are you waiting for? Lay it on me." With that Pietro placed a hand on each side of Y/N's face and kissed her with every ounce of passion he could muster. He wanted to show her that he truly loved her and as their lips moved together it was clear to everyone in the room that they loved each other more than anything.
Along the way he's met a few girls, some good, some bad. Not all superheroes or supervillains are evil, The 'super' world is expanding to include aliens, magic, and the children of ancient deities and legends. This is NOT a superhero genre deconstruction. Many heroes truly are heroes, and they don't all need to be destroyed to make a good story, but it does look into the dark side of superpowers and the unreasonable and often contradictory demands placed on exceptional people. Please note that this book has extremely graphic and sometimes gross fight scenes, heroes as villains, villains as heroes, opinionated and often politically incorrect characters, some graphic sex scenes, dad jokes, dirty jokes, realistic depictions of romance and flirting, bondage and dominance themes, and more than a few cuss words when they are really appropriate.
