《The Assistant | Pietro Maximoff x Reader》Chapter 22

The first thing I noticed when I woke up was a blinding headache. It felt like my skull was being struck with a sledgehammer.
The second thing was that my hands and ankles were restrained. After blinking a few times, my vision cleared and I was able to see that I was in a small room. I was tied to a chair with my arms behind my back, and there was a door directly in front of me. To the left of the door stood a small table, and the room was illuminated by a single hanging light bulb.
I tried to reach for my telekinesis, but nothing was there. It felt like my power was asleep. I started to panic for a split second before focusing. I was trained to get out of situations like this.
I started untying the ropes holding me. Ropes? Seriously? The best thing to use would be zip ties, seeing as those were more difficult to get out of. I had just finished loosening the ropes binding my hands when the door in front of me opened. I grabbed the rope to stop it from falling to the ground, and bared my teeth at the familiar face that greeted me.
"Derek Hale," I spat.
The man grinned at me as he walked closer. A bodyguard followed behind him, a gun in his hand. I tightened my grip on the ropes that were supposed to be binding my hands.
I grimaced and tried to move back as Derek came closer. He gripped my chin in his hand and I glared at him. I wanted to punch him, but if I showed that my hands were no longer tied, I would be screwed. I would lose the element of surprise, and the man with the gun was still a problem.
"You know, if you hadn't been such a bitch, we wouldn't be here," Derek said. "After you and Stark humiliated me, I decided to look around for rewards for your capture." He smiled at me and stroked my cheek with his thumb. "Who would have thought that Hydra was looking for you?"
My blood ran cold and Derek noticed. He smirked at me and let go of my chin, pulling back to view me. I really wanted to punch him. Or kick him.
"They'll be here in a few hours," Derek said casually. "And I bet you've noticed you can't use your powers. That'll be because of the drug we injected you with."
He smiled a snake's smile at me and I bared my teeth at him. He sighed and shook his head.
"See you later, Y/n," he said, opening the door. He glanced back at me one more time. "Or not. I'm not sure what Hydra will do to you."

The door slammed shut and I flinched slightly. I glanced at the bodyguard. He stared directly ahead and my lips thinned. A plan started forming in my head, and so I waited.
An hour later, I felt my power start to return. It was slow, and I still couldn't quite reach it. The bodyguard continued checking his watch, and a bead of sweat slid down his neck. The door to the room opened and a young woman with dark hair and hazel eyes entered the room. She had a small build and held herself nervously, as if she didn't want to be here.
"You're late," the bodyguard growled.
The girl flinched.
"I'm sorry," she said hoarsely.
The bodyguard rolled his eyes and gestured to me. The girl took a syringe out of her pocket and tapped it against her palm a couple of times. She glanced back at the bodyguard, and he gestured for her to stick it in.
When the girl came close enough, I punched her in the side of the head. She dropped to the floor like a stone, but I was already moving. I picked up the syringe with my power and shot it into the bodyguard's neck. I jumped up and fell back to the floor, and the chair broke with the force. The bodyguard was still distracted with trying to remove the syringe from his neck, so I grabbed one of the broken chair legs and whacked him across the head. He fell to the floor, unconscious, and I breathed raggedly.
I now had a killer headache, thanks to the usage of my powers while they were still 'asleep'. I took five seconds to compose myself before searching the bodyguard. I took his gun and found his phone. I took it out and paused for a second. I needed a password to get to the phone, seeing as I needed to call the Avengers. I thought about it for a moment before putting in the password 1, 2, 3, 4.
The phone unlocked and I grinned to myself before typing in a number I'd remember even without my perfect mind.
"Hello? Who is this?" a familiar Sokovian voice said.
"Don't even recognise your girlfriend?" I asked in fake disappointment.
"Y/n?" Pietro exclaimed.
I got up from where I was crouching and opened the door slightly. The hallway beyond was empty, so I held onto my gun and started making my way to the elevator.
"The one and only," I said. "I'm somewhere with Derek Hale. Can you trace the call?"
"Tony's already on it," Pietro said. "We're going to come and save you, okay? Is there any way you can get closer to the exit safely?"

"Probably," I said. "I have a gun, and my powers are slowly returning."
There was a deep breath on the other end.
"Stay safe, please," Pietro said.
"I will," I replied.
"Okay, we have your location," Pietro said. "We're coming for you, Printsessa."
"Looking forward to it," I said as I reached the elevator. "I'm getting into an elevator now. See you soon."
"Yes, very soon," Pietro said.
There was a click as he ended the call and I stepped into the elevator, pressing the ground floor. The elevator doors slid closed and I began to descend through the building.
The elevator stopped halfway between the fourth and fifth floor. It jolted to a stop and I flung my arms out to balance myself. I looked around, trying to find the cause of the stop. They must have known I was in the elevator.
I looked up to the hatch in the elevator. I could climb out of it... but what if the elevator started moving again? I could get crushed or stuck...
The elevator began moving down again. I held onto my gun tightly and took a deep breath. The elevator doors opened and I moved behind the side of the elevator as gunfire sounded. I pressed the car park and the elevator doors closed, and the elevator began to descend once more.
When I reached the car park, I rushed out of the elevator. I looked around and saw a bright green light. The exit. I rushed over and tried to prise it open, but it wouldn't budge. A door banged open and I ducked down behind a car. Seven pairs of footsteps sounded, and I took a deep breath.
"Find the girl," a gruff, unfamiliar voice said.
The footsteps moved around the parking lot and I took a deep breath. I looked through one of the car windows to see three agents walking together, checking between the aisles. I took another deep breath and a car slammed into the three of them. They didn't even have enough time to scream.
I blinked away the dizziness that was caused by my power usage. On a normal day, that much power would be fine to use. I guessed that the drug was still in my veins.
Most of the other agents rushed over to the car to inspect the damage to their teammates. I suspected that they were either dead or unconscious. If they were dead, they would have been the first people I'd ever killed. I didn't know what to think about that.
I took another deep breath and threw another two cars at the agents gathered. I got all of them, and blood splattered on the floor. I refrained from throwing up, due to the killing and the severe headache I now had.
Footsteps sounded right beside me and I swiped my leg out, tripping over the agent who had been sneaking up on me. He grunted as he hit the floor but lunged at me. We struggled against each other and he pulled out a knife. I screamed as the blade sunk into my thigh, and I threw him into a pillar with my power. He hit the pillar with a loud crack and fell to the floor, unconscious. I whimpered at the dizziness in my head and the pain in my leg.
The stairwell doors opened again and a tear slipped down my cheek. This was how I was going to die. I couldn't do anything more. I felt like I was going to throw up from the pain.
A familiar whistle sounded. A whistle I knew meant safety. I sighed in relief and whistled back. Two pairs of footsteps jogged towards me, and I let out a sob of relief when I saw Natasha and Clint. Natasha knelt down beside me and Clint stayed standing, his bow at the ready.
"Hey, Y/n," Natasha said. "You're alright."
"It hurts," I sobbed. "It hurts."
"I know, I know," Natasha said softly.
Natasha placed her hands on my thigh softly and examined the wound. Her lips thinned and she pulled bandages out of her suit. She began wrapping them around the knife and I had to hold back a few cries of pain.
"Alright, let's get moving," Natasha said, helping me stand up.
As soon as I got to my feet I began to sway and nearly toppled over. Natasha grabbed onto me and hoisted my arm around her shoulder. Clint took my other arm and they helped me walk to the stairwell.
The doors to the stairwell opened again and more agents ran through. Natasha shot at them and Clint pulled us behind a car. I let out a yelp of pain as my thigh jostled. More blood began seeping through the bandages.
"We could really use some help down here!" Nat called into the comms.
A few seconds later the doors burst open. I saw red and blue light flash for a moment before everything went quiet. A second later Pietro was kneeling before me, a worried look on his face.
"Printsessa?" Pietro said frantically.
"P-Pietro," I said, my eyelids drooping.
I was okay. Pietro was here. Maybe that was why my body decided it was okay to pass out.
