the next week

Beth actually did forget about her. Well, for a while.

Her week had been filled with lots of things, again. Amy's boyfriend Jake (we'll just call him the vodka guy) broke up with her.

So, Cassie and Beth went and bought emergency-ice cream and turned on the emergency- breakup songs and by monday, Amy didn't even look at Jake.

Mission completed.

Beth's monday was not that good. She failed her maths test terribly, and had to retake it. On monday she also finally remembered to tell Cassie and Amy that she had joined the drama club.

Beth didn't even really know why she didn't want to tell them at first. Drama club was.. well, gay. But her friends didn't even react badly: they thought it was just kind of funny.

And Beth had to tell them, since Cass had asked why she couldn't see her on thursday. Lying to your friends? That would be a lot worse.

On tuesday, she obviously saw Robin in the chem class they shared, and just like that -the girl was back on her mind. Everything about her was just.. fascinating. Beth couldn't pull her eyes off of her. She would zone out completely, thinking about the things that she would say to Robin, if she had the chance. Things that she would do to her, if she had the chance..

Robin was like a stupid magnet, and Beth couldn't get out of her magnetic field.

Ugh! Why does she have to be so beautiful??

Thursday, in drama class. Robin was wearing a really pretty purple shirt, which Beth thought popped out her natural hair.

Ms.Grace announced this years play: it was going to be Romeo & Juliet.

Honestly, Beth thought that was kind of dumb. Of course it was a good play, a tragic love story, but it didn't have a christmas vibe. At all.

Beth had auditioned for Juliet's mother, and a housemaid. She didn't have high expectations, just hoping that she wouldn't end up as a tree.

After the class she was at her locker, picking up some books before going home.

Josh -Blondie t-shirt guy- walked past her.

Yes, he would always be the Blondie-shirt guy. At least every time he wore the same shirt.

And he was still wearing it. Hopefully he had washed it during the week -or worn something else. Josh didn't share any classes with her -he was a senior. So how could Beth know how hygienic he was?

Beth raised a small smile, but Josh stopped and walked over to her.

"Did you audition for Juliet?"

Beth shook her head. "Nah. I don't like being in the spotlight that much."

Josh frowned. "Wish you would have. I'm going for Romeo." He smiled his usual, perfect smile and walked away.

Oh no.

Beth wasn't great when it came to boys. Obviously. She kinda hoped that Cassie would've been there to tell her what Josh was thinking. But Cassie wasn't here. And Beth was pretty sure about what just happened.

If that wasn't flirting, what is?

How on earth could she tell this guy that she wasn't interested in him because she liked girls?

Beth hadn't even told her friends. Or her family.

Even though she always had a feeling, that her mum sort of knew.

It would be way too much to come out to a half-stranger, a boy who she shared one hour a week with. It could cause rumours.. all the awful shit that she had been avoiding for the past two years.

Let's just hope, that Josh wouldn't try anything else.

Beth rambled trough her bag until she found her walkman. She put the headphones around her neck, and clicked the case to the waistline of her jeans.

Her thoughts about Josh were wiped off as soon as she saw someone else walking down the hallway: Robin. And surprisingly, she also stopped.

"Hey, Beth." Robin said, and Beth turned her head to face the other girl.

"Hey, Robin."

Well, guess I'm not forgetting her anymore.

Robin was about to say something, but she didn't seem to get the words out of her mouth.

Beth closed her bag and lifted it to her shoulder, giving Robin a questioning look.

What is she up to?"

Finally Robin spoke:

"Do you wanna hang out someday?"

That was like dropping a bomb.

Beth's mouth fell open before she could stop it, which caused Robin to panic.

"Sorry if this sounds weird.. I, I uh.. I just think you're cool. I know we haven't talked much, but do you wanna.. go to the movies or something?"

She thinks I'm cool.

"I- I'd love to!" Beth finally got her jaw to work.

She wants to hang out!

"It's not weird. At all. How about sunday?"

Robin eased up again. "Sunday's okay!"

Was this really happening? Beth wanted to pinch herself. How cruel if she would just wake up in her bed.

"The Outsiders are on again, right? Do you wanna go watch that?" The brunette suggested.

"Sure. I saw it last year, but it's a good movie. I won't mind watching it again."

"Sunday it is!" Beth said excitedly. "Sorry. I sounded like Ms.Grace. Don't get me wrong, she is sweet- just, how can someone be that upbeat-"

"-all the time! I know, right. It's like her smile is glued to her face!" Robin grinned.

Beth laughed.

"See you sunday. What time?" Robin asked.

"Uh.. I don't know." Beth scoffed. "Four?"

"In the morning?"

Beth laughed again. "Yeah. Theatre, 4am. That good?"

Robin laughed aswell. "Can't wait!"

And with that, Robin walked away, wawing as she went.

Funny, how easy that little conversation was. It's was like something clicked. Clicked into place.

Beth closed her locker. She couldn't stop smiling. Funny, how everything always happens on thursdays: the good and the bad stuff.

It was definitely a great decision to join the drama club.
