《》CHAPTER XXVI

Ten days later...

"So you both have been fighting just over her mother!" The kitten exclaimed, and I groaned, placing my hand on Sandra's shoulder in order to stop her from attacking the already injured woman who had been spurting nonsense since the day she woke up. I don't know why it was a kind of difficult to believe Sandra cut her strings because I supposedly killed her mother.

Max chuckled behind me and I rolled my eyes at him as he was the one who told the kitten about the story, Sandra was a bit reluctant to give the information to the Zodiacs, but Max argued that we should tell her as the Zodiacs had already been involved in our matter. I just shrugged and let him do whatever he liked.

The kitten woke up a day after the incident, and since then she has been bossing around as she couldn't walk properly without stumbling, and it's our fault that she got involved in shit.

Linda has been way too irritated by the way the cat woman treats her like her own personal servant, picking up fights over bedsheets, cologne, and the color of her shirts. It was kind of amusing to listen to her bickering around and Linda's helpless staring at me, pleading to make the kitten in her line, which I casually shrugged off, and it would be way too boring if I intruded.

Sandra, on the other hand, has been quiet, a way too quiet that it was starting to bug me: I don't want her to blame for the things but I was unable to make her stop accusing herself.

Maybe I was way too evil that I wanted her to somehow regret it. Regret about not listening to me, regret about not trying to get the whole story, regret about leaving me, leaving me and believing the bastard, the bastard who...

The kitten snapped her fingers in front of my face, which caused me to flicker my thoughts back to reality.

Sandra was staring at me, sitting beside me on the dining table sipping her lemon tea, whereas Adriana was sitting across from me in her wheelchair, digging into her brownies which Max had baked and was sitting on my other side. The Zodiac assistant, the cheeky bastard, was also on the table, sitting beside Adriana and Sandra's assistant, who we had caught in our territory. Linda was standing beside me, probably checking my schedule.

The princesses and kitten's relationship seem to develop at a quiet pace, especially because of their mutual liking of bitching about me along with Max, they just sit all day watching some weird movies and Sandra let Adriana braid her hair which is quite surprising for me, but even though Sandra looks alright superficially but she is broken, I know as I have noticed her staring at the walls and hurting herself due to clumsiness which is so not like her, kitten seemed to have noticed it too that's why she keeps her busy making her listen to her endless rants about blah blah... I don't even remember, but I am kind of thankful to her because I have been busy tracing that bastard since the day that I didn't have enough time to spend with them.

Sanda had apologized once, twice, thrice, a hundred, thousand times, and I just nodded, saying that we can't change the past, but she still hadn't recovered from her guilt-

"Miss Kidnapper, have you been listening to me at all?" The kitten pouted, making me roll my eyes at her.

"Yes, very much-" I answered, lazily scrolling through my phone, checking the updates while sipping my black coffee.

"No, you don't-" she huffed, and Max chuckled.

"Don't worry, Adriana, Pumpkin always acts like shit-"

I huffed, and I looked at Sandra, whose lips also plastered a small ghost smile on them.

"Oh, come on, old man... Why do you care so much about this feline girl?" I jokingly huffed, on which the kitten dramatically gasped.

"Feline who?"

"You, who else?" I raised my brow challengingly.

"I do not-"

"Do to-"

"Do not"

"Do to-" I was actually enjoying this bickering, which was quite a change from the tense atmosphere that had been looming in this mansion for years.

"Do not-"

"Stop it!" Max exclaimed, silencing us both, but despite his tone, a grin was plastered over his face.

He turned his face towards Adriana with an apologetic smile, "Sorry to break it, Adriana you do act like a cat," he said.

"A quite lazy one, you may add," I smirked at how the kitten dramatically placed her right hand over her heart.

"Shush..." Max nudged me rather painfully. I should add, which made me low-key groan.

"Kidnapper number two, please tell them I don't-" The kitten dramatically batted her lashes at Sandra, which amused the latter.

Sandra awkwardly rubbed her back of the neck and looked at me, giving me a look screaming to save her, to which I just smirked.

"Yes, tell her Princess-" I said smugly, and Sandra glared at me, turning her attention also to the kitten. She awkwardly smiled, making the kitten gasp again.

"You- you- you" she pointed at Max, me, and then Sandra, "you are all blind-" She turned to the cheeky bastard, "Brett, tell them," she huffed.

The Zodiac assistant choked on his brownie and stared, coughing vigorously, and the Cobra Dude laughed at his state, making the formed glare at him.

'There must be something going on' I thought as I stared at the two men, one glaring at the other who was grinning, and by the response of their assistant, the kitten finally sighed. Still pouting, she mumbled something under her breath, which made me and Princess chuckle at the same time.

I looked at Sandra, who was smiling at me, and we both looked at the pouting Adriana, chewing on her fourth piece of brownie grumbly.

The atmosphere felt so light and right at the moment that I found myself sinking into the 'family" atmosphere surrounding the whole room.

Kartos, too, was less worried about me as he was just lazily lying on the couch placed beside the snak... err, Sheshu's cage, giving no fuck about us.

'Sometimes I get jealous of the life he is living,' I thought as I rolled my eyes at watching him open and close his eyes despite basically sleeping more than twelve hours a day.

"Mistress-" Linda butted in and my eyes flickered from kitten to princess. Both were wearing the same look on their faces, glaring at my assistant.

'What's their problem with my beloved assistant?' I thought, as Linda has never done anything other than showing her excellent skills and professionalism in the work, whether it's related to the underworld or not.

"Yes, Linda?" I asked, and I swear I heard the kitten mocking, 'yEs lInDa' under her breath, and the princess snickered at her.

I ignored them both and raised my brows at Linda, who was unfazed by the responses of the bratty women.

"The thing is, Miss-there—" Linda stopped, and then her eyes averted from Princess to her weird assistant and then back to me as if she was asking me whether to continue or not.

"You can, Linda-" I said, nodding at her to continue.

Linda was a bit reluctant as she has always been a bit protective of me but she nodded, "Miss- we spotted the target-" she said, making me stand up from my seat in excitement.

"Where?" I asked in anticipation. We have been activating all our rats and have been searching for him since the day that the bastard was successful in escaping.

"Errrm..." Linda hesitated.

"What Linda?"

"The Blue Pearl's leader sent us a picture in which the target has been doing drugs-" she trailed off-

"Alex sent what!?" Max exclaimed the name. Alex was like a venomous coming out of his rage-filled voice.

For some obvious reasons, Max has always hated Alex.

"Calm down, Maxxy-" I said, patting his shoulder and raising my brow at Linda, gesturing her to continue.

"Miss- umm- he sent that pic along with a message that he knows you have been searching for him and in order to get the target, he wants you to-"

"He wants what?" I asked, knowing that it must be something perverted.

"...err... he wants to meet you... in private without a single person- he also added a weird Winky face at the end of the message," Linda mumbled and she looked down at her heels.

"I-... what?" I was able to comprehend what the pervert was thinking...

"Meeting for what exactly?" Max questioned suspiciously, and Linda shrugged.

"I think I can meet him," I mumbled, and Max sighed.

"But Pumpkin, we can't tolerate giving him what he wants-"

"Maxxy, you know how he is-"

"Wait... that Blue Pearl leader, whom you-" Sandra bit her tongue, stopping her from saying any further, making me smirk.

"Stalking much-" I teased her, to which she huffed and looked away, but there was a tint of red coming over her nape.

"She did what?" Kitten asked rather harshly.

"Yes, Krystal, tell her-" Sandra smirked.

"Well, you really want me to tell her?" I raised my brows at Sandra, who groaned.

"Pumpkin, we have a serious topic to discuss-" Max cut off our conversation.

"But I wanna know-" kitten huffed, and I rolled my eyes at her looking back at Linda.

"Well, let's just get over it-" I said curtly, and Linda nodded at me.

"Are you really going alone?" Max asked in a hushed tone and I chucked.

"Well-" I smirked at him and he nodded, smiling.

"Send him a message that I want to meet him-" I commanded, and Linda nodded.

I walked towards Linda and placed my hand over her shoulder, making her visibility flinch in surprise.

"Thank you", I said, and Linda blushed.

"I- It's- okay- why-" She shuttered her every word, making me chuckle as I patted her head, and then I walked away towards my room to get ready to meet Alex.

"Bring me some coke!" I heard Kitten shouting behind me, and then I heard someone walking behind me. As I opened the door to my room, I turned around to see Sandra rushing after me.

"Wait!-" She exclaimed, and I nodded at her, walking into my room.

"Yes?" I questioned when she entered the room and closed the door behind her.

"Well... err...mmm-" She awkwardly rubbed her hands together, making me amused at her actions.

"Yes, Princess?" I asked again, on which she started fidgeting even more.

"Sorry- Kry-" She said, looking into my eyes. Her beautiful brown eyes were filled with sincerity, and I huffed.

"You have apologized to a thousand times now-""Thousand is bot even near the times I want to apologize for my deeds, I don't want your forgiveness but I will just keep bugging you toll you give me a punishment-" She said in a low voice, her eyes filled with sincerity and pain.

I sighed, rubbing my temple. "Look, Princess, I got a lot to do, and punishing you is on my least priority-" I said, and she huffed in response.

"But-""No- but San-" I cut her and walked towards my closet to take out a formal tuxedo to wear-"Your style has changed a lot-" Sandra commented, making me freeze at the spot.

"Change for the better, I hope-" I mentally sighed, cheering myself for not shuttering.

"Yes, it is-" She started walking towards me as I took out a white button-up shirt along with the grey trouser suit.Sandra stopped just beside me and I raised my single brow at her.

She raised her index finger and touched my shoulder, on which I stopped, frozen on my spot. she started trailing a finger down at my spinal cord and I looked into her eyes, her beautiful almond eyes which had always amazed me but now they were filled with pain and dark circles. I bit inside of my cheek to stop any sound coming from my mouth as her finger just stopped above my last lumbar vertebrae.

"It changed for the best," she whispered, and I felt a ping in my heart. I moved a bit away from her, which she ignored and flickered her finger in the air in front of my face, and her eyes momentarily landed on the picture resting on the stool beside my bed.

She walked towards it and picked it up. Her hand trailed over the picture of the three children, and I sighed. "Let it go, San-" I said as I watched her eyes become moist.

"I am trying-" she whispered.

"Yes, Princess-"

"Why do you still call me that?" She asked, catching me off guard.

"Well, it's my choice, Princess-" I replied curtly, making her snicker at the answer, which we both knew was just a cover-up. Sandra placed the picture back on the stool and looked into my eyes.

"Long hair was nice-" she said, making me look down as the sudden wave of nostalgia started to hit me. She seemed to notice my sudden change in demeanor as she snapped her fingers on my nose, making me glare at her.

"But short hair looks even hotter-" she continued, and I exhaled the breath I didn't even know I was holding.

"Indeed, I am hot, smoking hot-" I smirked at which she laughed, her laugh so beautiful and melodic, which provided my mind a sense of relief, a sense of ..

"Kry, ever thought about inventing the time machine?"

"Huh?"

"Remember the blue raccoon robot you used to love?"

"That's Doraemon. He is a cat robot, not a raccoon" I huffed, and she smiled.

"Yes, yes, remember the time machine he got?" She asked again, and I nodded then she sighed dreamily.

"Sometimes, I want to kidnap that cat and I want the time to-"

"NOO! we have already kidnapped a cat, and that kitten is already so difficult to raise," I commented, and she giggled.

"Okay- okay, no more kidnapping cats, " she said, and I snickered.

"What I was trying to say-" she continued.

"I am getting what you are trying to say princess, but we can't really change the past-" I cut her, and she sighed, rubbing her temple.

"But-"

"There are no butts, San-""I-"

"Princess, we can mourn over the past or start something new in the meantime," I said seriously, and she gulped.

"What are you trying to say?" She asked.

"Well, em... can we start over our friendship?" I asked, looking into her eyes, which seemed to dilate at the question.

"Friendship?" She raised her brows.

"Friendship-" I replied, and she chuckled, making me smile.

"Okay, 'friend'-" she said, dragging the word, making me groan.

"San - get out of my room, " I ordered.

"Why 'friend'?"

"I need to change, get out, shoo-" I started dragging her out of my room and the atmosphere seemed to be a little lighter.

The door opened to show the kitten was sipping on her second can of coke, sitting beside Max, and her one hand was in Kartos' fur, massaging his back. She was watching something on the television and Max was scrolling through his phone, probably checking on the Blue Pearl. They both looked at us and smiled looking at me, dragging a smiling woman out of my room.

".....but friends don't know how they taste la la la-" she sang, and I closed the door on her face.

My mansion was filled with crazy people and for once in years it was feeling complete. I locked the door behind for safety and started unbuttoning my black shirt which I was wearing.

'You look so sexy when the strings of your hair fall on your face while I make you -' I tried to calm myself down by taking a few deep breaths, and it worked.

I pulled down my jeggings and looked in the mirror.
