"Mom come on, I have to go". I whined pulling away from our little hug.

"I know baby I'm sorry,". She sniffled. " Make sure you come down for the holidays".

"Mhm". I nodded reluctantly as I got my car keys out and got in my black nissan 370z.

"I love you sweetie!". She yelled over the roar of my eighteenth birthday present.

"Love you too, mom". I blushed as some of the nosey neighbours stared at me through their windows.

I let the top down, turn my radio on and slipped my sunglasses on my face. The gentle breeze was cool but refreshing, which actually describes my decision of moving as far away as possible to a college-forgive me, University- miles from my mom.

"Send postcards!". She yelled after me as I backed out of the driveway and and drove off.

A small smile found it's way to my lips once I got on the street and joined the busy morning traffic. Everything seems better and more colorful now that i'm free. The sun is brighter and it's warm light makes my car -the only gift I actually liked getting from my mom- shine against the envious looks from other people with the volkswagen beetle a.k.a punch buggy, and some obvious old used cars. Of course i'm not bragging, i'm not like that.

I'm not like my mom.

I guess I'm just ecstatic that I get to be on my own now. Away from all the judgemental stares, I was the rich girl who thinks she's too better than everybody else to join the popular clique. The truth is, I don't really care about money because it can't buy me happiness, my happy days are over. I've been disconsolate ever since my dad left us. We don't even know why, the bastard only left a one sentence note.

This is for your own good.

~Jeffery S.

My mom got scared and panicked, but right before she called the cops we got a call from the bank notifying us that we've just gotten a large sum of money in our bank account. I was eight. My dad never divorced my mom and my mom never tried to divorce him but we both knew he had moved on and eventually, so did she. The question was,

How did he get so stinking rich?

We switched from being a typical middle-class family to a stereotypical rich, mansion owning, polo wearing, butler having family in only a matter of hours. Now you tell me something's not fishy about that. Oh, and when I brought it up to my mom all she had to say was,

" Have you seen my sexy italian trainer?, he's supposed to be here by now".

And the rest of my life has been the same, until now. Now i'm not forced to wear a new line of clothing everyday, Now i'm not glared upon not only by my peers but my teachers, i'm no longer shunned by my own mother when I decide to go to Publix wearing ripped jeans and a ratty old T-shirt. Now I get to be wild!

Ha, That was funny.

I may just be the good-est good girl you have ever met, and that's saying a great deal because apparently they're a lot of good girls out there. Well, let's see i've only ever had one boyfriend in my entire life -two if you count Tommy Watson from kindergarten- and the most we've touched is when he held my hand to prove to his friends that we were actually dating.

I never did anything with Andrew.

I wanted to but...I was scared. To be honest sometimes if I think about it too much I get scared all over again. I was scared to hug him, touch him, gosh I was even too scared to kiss him. We dated for four years -all throughout high school-without doing anything a normal couple typically does. And the weirdest part...was that I broke up with him.

What can I say? a girl's gotta move on.

Oh, and I don't curse. Ever.

I left my house at ten and got to Richwood University at three-fifteen. There's no way my mom's driving five and a half hours to see me under any circumstances. Beaming I pulled up In an empty parking spot and got out, making sure to turn on my car alarm with the key. There was a sign in front of the main office making my smile grow even wider.

Welcome to Richwood University home of the Racer Snakes! We bite, we fight, we show our might! Ssss. Office hours 8am-5pm mon-sat. sunday: 8am-12 noon.

Okay it's a little lame, but it's the thought that counts!...yeah no.

" Hello there!". A peppy lady in her mid-thirties greeted me as I walked inside. " What can I do for you today hun?".

" Um...". I rested my hands on the counter suddenly nervous."I'm a new student and i'm here to get my schedule and my room key please".

The woman's kind eyes suddenly turned into a cold stare. " look kid, I don't know who you are or what your trying to do here but we don't admit strays at our school, so if you'd kindly leave that would be good".

"what...?".I was at lost for words.

" Are you deaf? we don't take strays. Leave now or i'll be forced to call security". The woman got up from her chair and picked up the office telephone.

" I do go here, my name is Ashley Sunshine I was enrolled here by my mom Susan Sunshine".I quickly choked out, showing her my ID.

She froze.

"Oh...". She mumbled to herself once she looked me up on her computer.

"Yeah". I snapped, the smile wiped clean from my face.

She cleared her throat."Sorry, Ashley but you must understand I was just confused because of your current attire".

She said attire like it disturbed her. I looked down at my clothes confused, I was wearing my black leggings, with my grey tank top and a white jacket. Oh, and grey flip flops. Yeah my mom barely let me out of the house, but she had to stay on my good side if she wanted post cards.

Right. I forgot.

" No, I'm sorry. I left my Polo and butlers at home but I have a nice car parked outside if you want to check?". I retorted getting a little upset.

" No need Ms. Sunshine Your ID was sufficient enough, have a nice day!". She handed me my room key with the room number attached and a piece of paper with a copy of my schedule dismissing me and attending to a Polo wearing blond behind me.

I looked down at the paper building 3 room 307. Hmm, what building am I in now? building 1 great. As I began walking toward the third building I noticed a tiny asterisk at the bottom of the paper with my room number on it and stopped to read it.

*Special circumstance Ashley Sunshine is permitted to have a male roommate.

I'm sorry What?!

"I'm gonna get raped, i'm gonna get raped, i'm gonna get raped". I mumbled to myself as I walked to my room.

305, 306, 307.

The door was mahogany and chipped in some places but it was still a fresh start for me. Taking a deep breath I slid the key in and the door creaked open. A guy that had been sitting on the couch stood up.

"Ah, Welcome my special circumstance". He smiled opening his arms as if he was about to give me a hug.

He's hot,

Fudge.
