"Next is our third match! Cain versus Old Fart!"
"My turn, huh?" King commented halfheartedly.
"Who in their right mind would come up with a totally tasteless name like that?" Diane questioned.
"It was me," Ban stated proudly. I let a laugh slip.
"Why am I not surprised?"
"Hey, c'mon. You gave yourself a pretty weird name too. Where did Matrona come from?"
"Actually, it's someone I used to know."
"I'll hold onto Chastiefol for ya," Captain offered. King handed it over before going up, "Go old fart! Get 'em!"
"C'mon Old Fart!" I joined in.
"Ki-" Diane caught herself, "Old Fart go!" He turned back, giving us a thumb's up in his human form.
"If that's his game face, guess it makes sense," Ban said.
"This is a perfect pillow." The Captain was squishing the pillow in his arms. Looking over, I softly poked Chastiefol. It was in fact, a perfect pillow. Honestly I'm jealous. In the ring 'King's' face was red and he was wobbling. He must be pretty drunk. The real King was blushing too though, for some odd reason.
"Alright! Let the fight begin!"
"I can't believe King's fighting without a weapon," Diane exclaimed, "I've never seen him do that."
"Guess it's twice for me now. It's really something to see," Captain told us. King got into a ready position, raising his hands to block his face and spreading out his legs.
"Is it really that mind blowing?"
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" I murmured.
"Yeah because without his weapons..." King rushed forward with a punch, but tripped on a crack in the ring, "King's super weak." All of us but Meliodas almost fell to the side in surprise. King pushed himself back up as the crowd laughed to find the old man above him throwing a punch. Despite King getting up and trying to block it, it knocked him right in the head, having tears form in the corners of his eyes. Surprise hit the three of us again.

"What a let down!" The announcer called out, "This battle is the opposite of epic!"
"I saw him fight a cat that had swiped a snack from him once," Meliodas elaborated, "and he lost." King backed away from the old man as the man chuckled.
"Well? Do you give up?" For a moment, King remained still, holding up his hand.
"Huh!" The old man rushed at King with his palm straight out, knocking King out of the ring with a vicious tumble. Quickly, I let my instincts kick in and positioned myself, barley catching him as he landed.
"Old Fart's out of the ring! King wins!" The announcer yelled.
"Sorry," The old man replied, rubbing the back of his neck, "You kind of caught me by surprise for a second." I opened my eyes and looked down to find I had caught King gently but also that the Captain had put Chastiefol between me and King. I didn't know whether to thank him or be worried, but since he wasn't trying anything, I decided on thankful.
"That was so mean! All I was trying to do was use my disaster power to make his rheumatism a little worse," King explained as we all looked at him worriedly. The tears were still in the corners of his eyes and a red mark was burning on his cheek.
"Aw, you'll be okay," I soothed, laying my head gently on top of his.
"Next up is the last match in the round of these finals! It's Baan versus Meliodaf!" The two dorks climbed into the ring and I let King stand by himself.
"Sure you're okay?" I questioned.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. How are you're feet?"
"Fine, fine," I looked back up at the fight. It's nice that he cares.

"Capt- I mean Meliodaf! Go get him!" Diane cheered.
"Baan! If you screw up and lose this match, I'm gonna tell Elaine!" King threatened.
"Try and make it a good show!" I teased them.
"Oh, that's right!" Diane revealed the princess again, "You can cheer too Elizabeth. You don't have to worry, nobody's going to see you."
"O-oh. Okay," She answered, nervous, and rightly so. She was naked after all. I glanced over at King to see him wide-eyed next to me. Gently, I elbowed him.
"You're staring," I whispered. His cheeks turned red as he looked towards the match. I let out a laugh. I looked up at the ref's voice.
"Time for the match to get under way!"

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
