The whole building was bustling with life as Matty waited for Karl to appear from the sea of people. She bit the side of her cheek, still anxious even though she already gave herself a pep talk while she drove towards the airport.

She had 10 minutes to spare since Karl informed her beforehand about his flight schedule and she wanted to get there as soon as possible. Not because she wanted to see him that bad, she just didn't want to be late. It would be embarrassing.

She debated on going inside Dunkin Donuts to buy her and Karl some iced coffee and maybe get some Choco Butternut donuts to go with it but she didn't want him to have to find his way to her so she jumped on her feet to release some tension and just waited.

She looked towards the huge tv mounted on the walls that would show which flights had landed and departed. "Aha!" She muttered to herself as she saw North Carolina— next to it was the word 'Landed' in bright green letters.

Dread settled in her bones and she suddenly became fidgety. She slyly took a sniff of her clothes to see if she reeked of something bad. Nah, she was good to go.

She was well-composed even if she was wearing her comfortable pajamas. Her hair was in a neat ponytail and her face mask was worn the right way. The blue side up, white side down. Although her composure didn't last long.

She yelped in shock as her phone rang loudly, earning odd and irritated glances from people rushing with luggages and suitcases with them. She mumbled a small apology and went away from the scene, situating herself outside Dunkins.

She swiped her phone and answered breathlessly, "Hello? I'm here. Where are you?" She asked nervously. If he did noticed, he didn't point it out.

"Hey. I'm currently getting out of the plane. Where should I meet you?" He asked. A hint of nervousness in his voice too.

Matty's eyes brightened at the idea that Karl was going to her and not the other way around. She couldn't wrestle with bags and moody people anymore. "How about Dunkin Donuts? It's near where you're about to exit from. You'll see it immediately." She said, feeling more calmer now. Just a bit though.

"How about you? How will I see you?"

"You'll know. I mean, I think I'm the only one wearing Hello Kitty sweatpants in this place. I am getting stared at though so you better hurry up." She joked and eyed the donuts that were already calling her name.

She wondered what type of donuts Karl liked. Just because she wanted to judge his preferences and if she'd still be friends with him. Bavarians and Jelly donuts came straight from hell.

"Alright, alright. Can we stay on the phone though?" Karl asked hopefully. He just felt more comfortable talking to someone while he walked. It calmed his nerves. "It just feels better to walk while someone's on the phone with me."

Matty's raised shoulders lowered as she took in that piece of information, "Yeah, sure. It's fine, Karl." She softly said. A small smile adorning her lips.

"By the way, when you get here— Wait... I think I see you!" She excitedly said, raising a hand and waving towards Karl who was a few feet away from her. She hurriedly ended the call and ran towards the other who was in the midst of waving back before she decided to rush towards him like a mad woman.

She came into a halt, pausing as she now stood in front of him. She was deeply unsure of what to do and most of all she didn't know if the person she was stood in front of was even Karl.

Why did I run like that? Why on earth did I do that? I don't even know if this is him. I swear to the gods, if this isn't him.

"Karl?" She decided to ask, an underlying tone of uncertainty evident in her voice.

Karl chuckled and she immediately knew it was him. Anybody would know that laugh.

"Hi."

"Hi."

Due to the both of them wearing masks, they could only see each other's eyes.

His were this type of blue that looked like the color of the ocean. Deep and beautiful. It had a certain twinkle to it, the same sight when you stare at the ocean and sun reflects off of it. Beside it was peachy, light skin that had hints of small and soft dots of the color same as sand. There was a hint of red, not as evident just a smidge and it made way towards the tips of his ears.

They locked eyes with a lighter shade of blue.

No, it looked like a mix of a light green, blue and grey. Her eyes looked like the skies on a bright sunny day and cotton candy that dissipates slowly in the summer heat... but it also reminded him of when the skies are about to cry out tears of unknown emotions. Monotonous grey and black umbrellas... but it still reminded him of something else. It was falling leaves that hung in the air, slowly ascending on asphalt. In the end, he realized her eyes was just everything. It was a calm blue sky, fun and bright at first then a hint of a storm suddenly deciding to pave its way down the city and harsh cool wind that makes the trees rattle wildly that green coats the air, still adding color to the dullness that was about to come. It was beautiful.

Karl's hand visibly twitched and Matty's eyes casted towards it. He pocketed his left hand out of embarrassment and tightly gripped his right that was holding down his black suitcase.

Matty knew about his... well him being a touchy person. It's all thanks to Charlie's fan-like manners and the numerous tiktoks he'd shown her about him.

She probably knew about his mannerisms by heart because of how many times Charlie would make her watch but now, during this very moment, Matty didn't know.

Matty wasn't a touchy person. Her family and friends were an exception but to people she just met? She doesn't know what to do.

She gazed back at him, seeing him busying himself and watching people blur in his eyes because of how fast they were walking. She knew how uncomfortable it felt, the uncertainty.

She supposed she can make an exception... Just for today.

"Can I..."

"What?"

"Hug?"

Karl's head whipped back to look at her with wide eyes before nodding. Not trusting his voice.

Matty went forward and hugged him. He was warm, his clothes felt soft. It was nice.

She felt Karl let go of the plastic handle of his suitcase before arms wrapped around her figure. His chin softly nudging her head. Thank the gods I decided to take a bath, Matty thought to herself.

They stood there for a while. In each other's arms before Matty pulled away. She pointed her thumb towards the entrance of Dunkin Donuts, "Should we get something? The drive back's pretty long." She said. Her face felt slightly warm and her head and her fingertips felt fuzzy from when she gripped the back of his black shirt.

"Yeah, sure." Karl said before walking beside her. The smell of sweets and something savory filling their senses, "I'm paying by the way." He added in the end as they waited in line.

Matty scoffed and showed her wallet to him, "No you're not. You'd be too slow to swipe your credit card. I'm way quicker than you."

"Yes, I will!" Karl defended himself, putting a hand on his chest as if he was wounded, "I'm pretty sure the card swipe in Among Us paid off."

"No you won't. I'll make sure of it."

Karl paid for the food they bought. He was able to swipe his credit card quicker than Matty.

Perhaps playing Among Us for hours did pay off.

Matty had a box of assorted doughnuts clutched in her hands while they walked back towards her car and if Karl asked for two jelly-filled doughnuts, since they decided to choose almost everything, and Matty didn't diss him about it? That wasn't anybody's business but hers.
