《Christmas Wish (Completed)》Epilogue

Nicolas POV

A year has passed since my sister, Eve, was born. She is walking now but still wobbly on her legs. I enjoy helping her and I will let her knock over my buildings every single time just to hear her laugh. She looks so much like Mama.

I have worked hard to get as far aheading in school as I can, but there has been times they pause me out of working on the lessons. Dad and Mama both are proud of me being nine now and doing schoolwork a few grades above my age.

Uncle Tony and Aunt Jewels did get married this past spring. It was fun getting to walk down the aisle holding Eve with their rings. Their wedding was a little bigger than Mama and Dad's because Aunt Jewels had invited some of the nurses from the hosptial.

Also I have kept true to Eve and never let Mama or Grandma feed her peas for baby food. Dad agrees with me though and it makes Mama laugh but she only says it is all in picking fun. Mama has tried some and to her they weren't bad just like Aunt Jewels said, but I think they are a little nutsy for that taste sample.

"Are you ready little man?" Mama's voice calls out from the door way to the kitchen.

"Am I ever!" I laugh.

I stand up and Eve follows my moves. I hold my hands down to help her up to her feet and I walk to the Christmas tree. I bend down and look around until I find a box for Eve.

Holding it out to her. "Happy Birthday Sissy and Merry Christmas." I smile as Eve takes it while babbling, as Mama calls it.

I wonder if she will be talkative once her words actually can be understood. She is always happy though much like I am, and I think we get that from Dad, because there has been twice I have seen Mama just down right mad but it wasn't at any of us. I know it is about work but she can't tell us because of privacy laws but I do know people need to listen to doctors and stop giving them such a hard time when they are trying to help, not all doctors are bad.

We all open our gifts. Dad and Mama always spoil me with so many and all I can think of is the fun I will have building for Eve to knock over. It is a win win for the both of us, as long as she doesn't get hurt. Now the puzzles I do, I build on the side table standing to where she can't reach because Mama said the pieces are to small for Eve to touch. Once they are finished we put them on my shelf I got last year for Christmas.

Dad comes up and sits on the floor next to me, while Mama took Eve to the bathroom to be changed.

"Are you having a good Christmas, Buddy?"

"I am. It is so much fun."

"You're an amazing big brother. I am so proud of you and love you so much." Dad hugs me.

I hug him back before he lets me go.

"Thank you Dad. I am glad we are here and that we have Mama and Eve. Mama saved me to where I wouldn't leave you."

"Every day I say a thank you that I still have my son. You mean so much to me Nicolas, never forget that." Dad looks at me.

"I know, Dad. I know." I smile and then help clean up the paper from the gifts.

I still remember hearing Dad wish for someone to help me and then Holly came in. She saved me and became my Mama fast but it felt right.

Just a few months ago, Mama had me get something from her purse and I came across the very last letter I ever made to 'Santa'. Mama told me that Dad gave it to her and had her read it. After that Mama kept it in her purse all this time for right at two years ago. Now, Mama put it in a small frame and it hangs on our living room wall because my parents never want to part from it.

Everything I wrote in that letter is true and how I seen things.

I may know the truth to Santa, but the power of the Christmas Wish is one thing I will never doubt. It has worked for the past two years on both things I wanted to come true. Now this year my only Christmas Wish is that everyone stays happy and I can stay healthy.

Eve ambles over to me where I sat back down from cleaning up to look at my things more. I catch her just as she falls in my lap. Dad laughs and helps me to catch her.

"Easy there little snow, you don't want to hurt your big brother." Dad laughs.

"It is okay. I know she don't mean it." I smile and tickle Eve when she started to pout from our Dad scolding her lightly.

I hate it when she cries and never want her to feel sad.

Mama opens the toys for Eve and she leaves my lap to go play with them. I watch her and work on a building until Mama gets up saying she is fixing to start dinner. I clean my toys up quickly and wash my hands to help Mama. I enjoy our cooking time together.

I go with Dad to work still because it is where I do the most with my schooling and there is a play area for Eve behind me to where we are together while Dad works. Dad and I still put props together and I enjoy that too, while Uncle Tony watches Eve for Dad and I to be away from the back counter. When Dad does pictures now, he moved to where he has a visual on Eve and I both.

I am not in a hurry to grow up because I enjoy life so much. Plus, I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up because everything around me I enjoy so much. How do you choose one thing to do for the rest of your life? At least I got a couple of years before I need to make a solid choice before trying to start ahead on college courses.

Thank you to everyone who has read through to the very end! Truly hope you enjoying reading this story!
