《King of Freaks ✔》Chapter 10

, Aspen is boring, my Dad is boring when he wants to be boring, Nikolai is too busy so he's boring too, my whole life is boring. Nothing was on TV, just news, news, some more news, then more news, oh, and did I mention plenty of news? I was sitting on the living room couch with Aspen, but he was on his phone the whole time.
"Better lock your doors up tight this year folks, word has spread about the murders of Casey Summers and Lionel Jankens. Both victims had their mouth's sewn shut, along with their eyelids as well. Police reports prove to state that both victims had died of asphyxiation.
Recently, a Jane Doe was found by the Illinois River, in the same condition as well." The news reporter said. She was the type to wear a bun and a dress suit, her male colleague sitting on the seat beside her, intrigued. By now, Aspen was looking at the TV screen, finally. He had a serious expression, before looking at me.
"Watch out, it's a dangerous world." He said, pinching my cheek. I groaned, and he smiled softly before patting my cheek and going back on his phone. Yet, what he said was right.
It is a dangerous world.
~
My father had the brilliant idea to go shopping, with me. Of course, he made Aspen tag along as well, no matter how many times he said he didn't want to see "girl clothes."
Although, it's difficult to shop with the both of them.
"Look Dad, doesn't this shirt look cute?" I said, pointing at the crop top.
"What the fuck is that? Might as well wear as bra out in the open." He replied, pointing at it as if it was the most horrific thing he saw.

"Fine. How about... These shorts?" I asked, motioning to the high waisted jean short shorts.
"No way in hell would I let you go out wearing that." Aspen said, not even baring to look at it. "I mean, c'mon, go out in a frickin towel if you please."
"Ok... These pants?" I asked again.
"Aren't those... Too tight?" My dad replied, whincing when I put the pants over my legs.
I don't even have them on yet.
"Dad, this is specifically why some girls don't go shopping with their dads." I replied with a chuckle, dumping them inside the cart. "Taking them either way."
He sighed, rolling his eyes in a playful way. "Just get whatever the hell you want, Bryniac."
"Bryniac, ha, that's nice." Aspen said, giving my dad a high five.
"It's basically a compliment Bryn, you're smart." Aspen said, a little smile playing on his lips.
"This is why I usually take Nikolai with me everywhere." I mumble, dumping another T - Shirt inside the cart. I then had a brilliant idea. We paid for what we got before I dragged them somewhere totally awkward.
There was bra's, underwear, and lingerie everywhere. To say my Dads eyes popping out was an understatement. Aspen meanwhile was a shade of red, looking silently at the ground.
Poor boy.
~
"Jared, don't be an idiot." I said.
"No I'm serious! Single women complain that all good men are married, while all married women complain about their lousy husbands. This confirms that there is no such thing as a good man." He replied, emphasizing what he said using his hands.
"That's makes sense but..." I replied grabbing a bag of chips, unsure if I should say anything at all because he does make a good point.

"You see, I'm totally right." He exclaimed, grabbing a small bag of sour patches before putting it on the counter.
"There are good men, just shut up, you're messing with my mind!" I yelled, running out the store with the bag of my paid goodies.
"My sour patches are in there!" Jared yelled, running behind me. I let out a mischevious laugh before running into an alley. Of course, Jared followed behind me, wanting to get his sweet sour patches. I was at the end of the alley when this Black Van came up. The back door slid open, so I turned around, but bumped into Jared.
The look of fear in his face made my heart break, but I knew I had one as well. I grabbed his hand and was ready to dash off but before I could, somebody wrapped arms around my waist. I screamed, but it was quickly muffled as I was thrown inside the vehicle. They threw in Jared next to me, who made quite a struggle.
They had zip tied our wrists and muffled our yells with the threat of a gun. Jared scooted closer to me, trying to get away from the armed man. The large door closed, and the van moved fast. They did all of this in a matter of seconds. I looked at Jared, and he had tears threatening to spill, that is until he saw the man eating his sour patches.
"You fat bitch, those are mine!" He yelled. I tried to shush him, but of course, he didn't have it. "Head ass, she bought those, for me, not for your pussy beard looking ass."
The man driving chuckled, while Mr.Beard was just fumming. His face was on fire.
Great, I'm going to die because Jared was over protective of his sour patches.
I mumbled profanities under my breath. I'm really not acting the way a kidnapped person should be, why? I don't know.
What's going on? Why am I getting kidnapped? Oh god, Eliazer's gonna kill me when he finds out Jared was with me, kid's practically his brother.
Oh god, I'm dead, I'm so dead.
Bryn, Bryn; calm down, it's okay, everything's gonna be okay.
Hopefully.
I was pulled out of my thoughts by the huge pot hole the reckless driver decided to go over.
"Watch it idiot!" I said.
The Van came to a skidding stop, and everything went black.

The Supernormal
In a world where fantasy has become everyday, one man stands against absurdity. The local Tower stomps through the streets. Any hedge could contain a witch. Walls regularly crumble, though none more often than the fourth. In the magical city of Blackpool, all ridiculousness is possible, and it takes everything for Jack Of All Trades to survive. Badly, at that. Perpetually late with his rent, he'll take up arms for any paying customer in order to fulfill his quest. His obstacles include polka-loving ghosts, card-game playing vampires, and the most vicious monsters of all: copyright lawyers. When he's joined by an arrogant magus and an insecure vampire, his life gets even more complicated, but no matter what kind of infuriating choose-your-own-adventure he finds himself on, one constant remains—his rent is due at the end of the month. On second thoughts, maybe he should stay in bed. The Supernormal isn't your average web-novel. It's an urban fantasy parody that saunters through a world full of the absurd, delighting in poking fun at popular media, widely-accepted ideas, and often itself. Story arcs only loosely connect through the characters, who are themselves slowly fleshed out as the story continues. Think of Discworld meets The Dresden Files meets Gintama. This novel won't be for everyone, but if it is for you, you're in for a hell of a ride.
