《My one and only ( Fred Weasley fanfic)》22. The big promposal

Jessica's POV ✨
It is now exactly one week until the Yule Ball and everyone was getting more excited as time went on. I sat in the common room with Harry and Ginny doing my Potions homework when Ron burst through the door with a panicked look on his face which soon faded when he saw us.
"Jess! Jess, I need you! I've been looking for you for ages!" He wheezed, flopping down next to me. I looked over at Harry and Ginny who just shrugged before standing up and leaving the common room.
I waited a minute for Ron to get his breath back before asking him what was up. "It's Hermione. I don't know how to ask her to the Yule Ball. Well actually, I do have one idea but it involves you..."
"What is this idea then Ronald?" I closed my Potions books and looked over at him.
"Singing."

I sat in my dorm looking at the lyrics to the song Ron and I would be singing later on. We had talked with Professor Mcgonagall yesterday and she gave us permission to sing in the great hall at supper. The best part about this 'Yule ball promposal' was that nobody else knew about it. Only Ron and I.
"I can't believe it! Ronald has still not asked me to the Ball! It's in five days! At this point I'm planning on going with Crookshanks!" Hermione burst out the bathroom causing Ginny to get smacked by the door in the process.
"Sorry Ginny, but still! It's not that hard to ask me! I don't bite!" She huffed, grabbing her hairbrush and styling her hair. She always styles her hair when she is stressed or angry.
"First of all Hermione, You are very intimidating so he probably does think you bite. And second of all, don't diss Crookshanks, he's a real one." I said as I folded up the lyrics sheet and shoved it in my drawer. Hermione slowly turned round to look at me, still furiously brushing her hair.

"You know what? Let's just go to dinner." Hermione chucked her hairbrush onto her bed almost hitting Ginny again.
"Yeah good idea. The more time we spend in here, the bigger chance there is of me losing an eye." Ginny replied, as they both made their way to the door.
"Jess aren't you coming?" Ginny looked round at me as I stayed put on my bed. "You just head off without me. I have to help Ron with something." I replied trying to act as innocent as possible.
"And what would that be may I ask?" Hermione gave me an intimidating look, folding her arms across her chest. "O-oh um, dress robes." I looked down at my fingers avoiding her stare which seemed to intensify.
"Fair enough. Come on Ginny, let's go." She grabbed Ginny by the upper arm and pulled her out the dorm, leaving me alone and ready to prepare for Ron and I's performance.
I walked over to my closet, taking out my dress and getting changed before doing my hair. Why in the wizarding world am I putting in so much effort? It's not like it's the Yule ball! Well, it kind of is for Ron. It is a big moment for him.
Here's the outfit & hairstyle:
I then, in apology for Hermione's mean words about Crookshanks, gave the cat a treat before heading out to meet Ron in the common room.
As I walked down I noticed him nervously pacing around in front of the girls dormitories. He was holding a blue bouquet of flowers. And wearing a knitted jumper that was the same colour as my dress with black trousers.
"Looking dashing Ronald, let's get your girl."

We stood behind the closed doors outside the great hall, waiting for Dumbledore to start the feast and begin playing the track for us to walk in.

"You nervous?" I looked over at Ron who was looking down at the flowers pacing to and fro. "A little. Bloody hell! What if she says no?" He stopped and looked up at me nervously.
"Well, she would go with Crookshanks." I blatantly replied. Ron gave me a confused look wondering what the hell I was on about. "Never mind." I chuckled to myself picturing Crookshanks in a tuxedo. I'm so immature.
"May the feast, begin."
Ron and I looked at each other and got ready to swing the doors open. We then heard the track start and we knew it was time.
We walked down the middle of the great hall and up to the front where everyone could see us clearly. And gave Ron a warm smile. "You can do it Ron," I whispered to him loud enough so just the two of us could hear.
I then began the performance.
I slowly walked to Hermione and offered her my hand which she accepted giving me a confused look. I placed a paper crown on her head and stood with her in the middle of the hall as Ron began singing.
I then began singing with Ron walking towards the front of the room again, leaving Hermione standing in the middle of the hall, still completely confused and oblivious to what was happening.
I stayed at the front of the room as Ron began walking towards Hermione with the bouquet of flowers in his hand.
Ron grabbed a hold of Hermione's hand and walked with her up to the front of the hall, not taking his eyes off her as he continued singing.
I quickly moved out of the way as Ron stood face to face with Hermione holding her hand.
"Hermione Jean Granger, will you go to the Yule Ball with me?" He held out the beautiful blue roses and gave her his signature smile which Hermione always said flattered her.
"Yes! One million times yes Ronald Weasley!" She beamed up at the boy who quickly lifted her up into the air and spun her around, giving her a long kiss.
Everyone in the great hall erupted into applause and cheers at what just happened before their eyes. I looked over at Professor Mcgonnagal who smiled at me giving me a nod of approval for the well planned performance.
