《Heavens Light (A Magi Fanfic)》Chapter 18: Who Are You?!

We arrived at the docks in a small town getting stares from people because of the large scaley dragon walking next to me. Some people would quickly walk away not wanting to be anywhere near us. We been walking around for about thirty minutes and still haven't found a hotel, we've tried to talk to the towns people but they would just say their busy or have to go.
"My feet are starting to hurt a little." I said as we walked. I was still wearing the boots from my previous outfit and they weren't that comfortable.
"You want a piggy back ride?" Alibaba said walking up next to me. I shook my head no.
"No thanks I'm, hey what are you doing!" I yelled as Vulcan picked me up by the back of my dress with his mouth and dropped me in Alibaba's arms. He caught me as he looked at Vulcan confused. My face was beat red as I used my hands to shield my face. I felt me feet touch the ground before being picked up again. I moved my hands to see I was getting a piggy back ride from Alibaba. His ears were red meaning he was blushing just as much as me. I put my arms around his neck so I wouldn't fall back at all.
"There now your feet won't hurt anymore." Isabelle said as everyone snickered. Judar just rolled his eyes and kept walking in the back of the group.
"Thanks." I whispered just loud enough for Alibaba to hear. He nodded slight saying your welcome.
"Where are we going to stay, nobody wants to be by a large dragon." Jack said getting tired of walking around.
"Let's just camp out in the woods." Judar said getting annoyed like usual.
"That's not that bad of an idea." Quinn said walking next to him, but punched him in the arm right afterwards.
"What the hell was that for." he whinned in pain.
"For being mean to Ashlin all those other times." she said not fully satisfied yet. Judar pouted, we walked into the woods far enough were we wouldn't bother anyone and close enough to walk to town to get things. Alibaba set me down as we looked for a good spot to set up camp.
"I'm going to go find some wood for a fire." I said walking off as everyone did other things. "Vulcan, stay here and watch for any intruders."
"Yes ma'am." he said laying down by a tree not far from camp. I walked around picking up sticks and large logs for the camp fire. I was about to head back when I realized that I was completely lost.
"Guys, where are you." I yelled a little trying to find my way back to camp. Nothing looks familiar at all, I'm starting to get a little scared. I walked past a bush until I heard rusling in the bushes. I turned around to see the bush moving, and a bunny jumped out.
"It's just a rabbit, thank god." I sighed in relief. I turned to find someone standing there. I let out a small shreech, stepping back, tripping over a root falling back and landing on the ground with a thud.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." I looked up to see a young man about a year older then me with red hair and light green eyes, he wore a pair of pants with a small jacket. I changed my braclet to my sword and held it to his face. He held his hands up and took a step back.

"Who are you?!" I said standing up quickly not moving the sword. He looked at me like I was stupid before realizing something.
"I'm sorry, you don't recognize me, it's me, Vulcan." He said as I looked at him stupidly.
"Wait, what?" I said relaxing a little bit. He smiled happily before a bright flash and he stood there in is actual form. I stood there with my mouth a little opened.
"Why didn't you do that before when we we're in town!" I yelled at him making him flinch.
"I just learned how to do it, I was born like about a week ago." He said a little upset that I yelled. I put my sword away and sighed. He turned back to is new form as a human.
"Let's just get back to camp before they send a search party." I said letting him lead the way back. We arrived at the camp with the wood and set it down next to a tree by the tent they set up.
"Ashlin, what took you, who's that?" Quinn asked coming out of the tent as the others stuck their heads out of the door.
"Trust me, you know him already." I said gathering rocks making a fire ring. She looked at me weird then looked at Vulcan, who was sitting next to a tree relaxing.
"Get you lazy butt over here and make a fire." I yelled at him making him groan.
"Why do I have too, I had to go find you." he whinned getting up and walking to me.
"Well to bad, now make a fire." I commanded as her just pouted. I just rolled my eyes and sat down next to the fire pit. Everyone stared confused, but Judar some how caught on what's going on and grabbed some wood and put it in the fire pit and sat down next to me.
"When did he learn how to do that?" He asked as Vulcan blew fire out of his mouth lighting the wood on fire.
"Not to long ago." I said as everyone finally figured out who he was and surrounded him asking questions.
"Is it me, or are most of them really dense." I said swear dropping as Quinn started to smoosh his face saying he was adorable.
"There is a really good possibility." he said face palming himself. I let out a giggle making him look at me.
"I never thought that you would agree with me, I thought you hated me." I said making him look at the fire with a little pink on his face.
"I do hate you, but the everyone here will hurt me if I'm mean to you." he said pouting as he normally does when mad or upset.
"What ever you say." I said teasing him, then getting a glare from him. I looked at the fire as I felt him staring at me, I tried to ignore it, but it's starting to creep me out. Everyone walked over to the fire and sat in a large circle. Vulcan sat down next to me and leaned back on the large fallen tree.
"So what are we going to do tomorrow?" Isabelle asked. Everyone looked at me, thinking I have the answer right away.
"I don't know, maybe we could just leave the quest alone and try to find Mabel, I'm worried about her because of that man, I'll make sure to kill his stupid ass." I said hugging my knees.

"Maybe we can find clues in town of any suspicious actives and start from there." Jack said poking a stick in the fire. The sun was starting to set and the stars started to come out.
"I guess that's we can do for now." Isabelle said standing up.
"I'm going in the tent to see if Mabel has anything we can use until we find her." she said walking to the tent and started to search threw Mabels stuff. Slowly one by one everyone went to the tent for bed, me and Vulcan were the only two sitting my the fire.
"Aren't you going to go to sleep soon?" he asked me as I just stared at the fire.
"I don't know, I just to worried, what happens if Mabel gets hurt or worse dies because if me, I could never forgive myself." I said burying my face into my arms. I heard him move and felt his hand on my head. I peeked at him as he smiled at me warmly.
"Don't worry she'll be fine." he said standing up and going to a tree. He changed into his dragon for and layed down resting his head on his arms.
"Just make sure you get enough sleep." he said before I could hear soft snored coming from him. I layed back and stared at the sky through the tree tops. I was starting to get cold, but I didn't move at all.
"Maybe after we find Mabel, I'll send everyone back to Sindria and do the quest myself, I don't want anyone getting hurt because if me." I thought as I heard a large snap in the woods. I quickly sat up and looked around in the darkness for any sign of movement. I stood up and walked to Vulcan, and tapped his snout trying to get him to wake up.
"Vulcan, I think there's something near the camp sit." I said turning my head behind me to check for anything. He didn't budge one bit. I heard low growls as I turned to see three large animals that looked like dogs. They were about as big as me with powerful legs and jaws. They looked like a dog mixed with a cat with no fur.
"Vulcan, wake up right now." I said a lot louder from fear. I hate the dark when I'm in the woods and scary animals like this is not helping. I felt him move a little before he fell back to sleep. The dogs came closer circling the camp.
"Vulcan!" I yelled as I felt him jolt awake. At that moment one lunged at me making me fall back and scream. I saw Vulcan's tail swing above my head knocking it out of the air and into a tree. His stood above me as he growled at the remaining two. They ran to the tent as fear shot through my body. I ran to the tent changing my braclet into my sword as I sliced at them making the stop as I stood in front of them, blocking their path to the tent. I heard the others waking up as one lunged at me as I moved aside stabbing it in the shoulder killing it. I didn't see the other until I heard a yelp to the side of me. I looked to my right to see Vulcan with the dog like thing in his mouth dead. He threw it off to the side. The others came out and saw them laying on the ground. I was shaking so bad, I hated the dark woods and this just made my fear worse. My sword disappeared as I fell into a heap on the ground. I cover my face with my hands and started to cry.
"Ashlin!" Isabelle exclaimed and ran to me kneeling infront of me.
"Look at me, please." she said as I did what I was told. I looked at her tears going down my face.
"It's ok, their gone now, there's nothing to be afraid of." she said in a calm voice, I was still shaking horrible trying my best to calm down. She hugged me as I just sat there shaking.
"What's wrong with her?" I heard Aladdin next to me, checking to see if I was ok.
"She has kinda a fear of the dark woods, it's because of what happened when she was seven years old, she was walking in the woods in the dark coming back from some small task her parents gave her when see was attacked by a pack of wolves, she was almost dead until a man found her and killed most of the wolves as the others flee, he quickly took her back to town and got her all patched up, she's been scared to go in the dark woods by herself since then." Isabelle explained as the near memory of it made me scared to death. I felt somethinh pick me up by the back of my dress from Isabelle's arms. I looked up to see Vulcan with me, walking back to the tree. He layed down and placed me next to him as he curled his tail around me. He placed his head next to me and closed his eyes.
"Just go to sleep, I won't let anything hurt my master, I promise." he said as I looked at the others, they smiled warmly saying I'll be fine. I still had tears going down my face as I quickly wiped them away. I layed down, using Vulcan's tail as a pillow. He was so warm and comfortable. I started to feel drowsy as I saw the others go back to the tent.
"Thank you, for everything." I said before drifting to sleep.
*Vulcan's pov*
I heard her say thank you as I lifted head a little to see her sleeping face. She looked like a small child when she slept. I smiled as I layed my head back down closing my eyes once more.
"I promise I'll keep you safe, I won't let anyone hurt you, because you my master and my mother that I love dearly, if something happened to you, I would no longer have a reason to live in this world." I thought as I heard another low growl, I shot my head up and looked towards the fire to see another one of those creatures. I growled at it as it slowly disappeared into the night. I can smell something like a bitter smell, but soon vanished like it was never there.
"What ever that was, I'm not letting it touch my mother." I thought as I put my head back down and went to sleep, snuggled up against Ashlin.
