"Girl, there's ballers out there tonight!" One of the other dancers yelled out to her friend, holding a bunch of hundred dollar bills in her hand.
I hadn't went out yet but all of the girls that went on before me were coming back with loads and loads of money. See, that's the thing about stripping. One night you could make $40 dollars the next night, you could make $4,000 dollars. It all depends and that's why I couldn't get a regular 9-5 like I originally wanted to. They didn't pay or guarantee this kind of money.
"Who's out there?" I spoke softly to Chocolate as she counted a bunch of money.
"Some rapper guys and their entourages." She shrugged.
"They're paying good but they're also asking for private dances in the champagne room." She looked at me knowingly, meaning that these girls were probably having sex with them for extra money in the VIP rooms.
"No way. I'm not doing that." I shook my head, feeling my stomach turn.
I refused to have sex with any of these weird men. I'd starve before I went that low.
"I know that's right." She nodded, looking me in the eyes.
"Make that money, mama. Don't let it make you."
"Remember that." She pointed at me.
I simply nodded my head, saying nothing.
"Come on. You're up next." She went onto say as she made sure my hair was slicked into the bun before we walked out.
Walking out onto the floor, I immediately saw the guys that everybody was talking about. I instantly became nervous as one of the guy's eyes fell upon me. Though there was already a girl dancing in front of him, he was staring at me.
Looking away, I walked toward my assigned pole. I danced slowly, doing the moves and tricks Chocolate taught me when I first started here. I danced all the way until the end of the song, not even realizing all eyes were on me.
Looking back, I saw the entire club watching me and a bunch of money on the floor.
Shit.
Nervousness took over my body as I picked up my money and retreated to the back. I placed my money into my bag before going back out for another round.

"Let's make this quick." I told myself, biting my lip.
As soon as I came from the back, the rapper guy that was looking at me before was now standing right by the entrance.
"I want a dance from you, little mama."
"$30 per song." I spoke softly and he chuckled, nodding as I grabbed his hand.
I guided him back to his seat and he sat down, looking up at me. I felt so small and degraded in his eyes but this was every night. And just like every night, I'd get over it once I made my money.
"Money first." I sassed and he chuckled, pulling out a hundred.
"There you go, little mama."
Not your little mama.
Sneakily rolling my eyes, I turned around so that he could get a good view of my ass. Summer Walker's - Karma then came on as I began to dance for him.
The song's only 3 minutes and 8 second, Montana. Keep it together. I thought to myself. Just trying not to get discouraged. The customers could feel when you did.
Nice to meet you, I'm sorry. I'm just here to do my job.
Nice to meet you, no running. Please don't fear me, I'm just karma
Let me dance for you, I'm sorry. You'll wanna love me strong, then I'm gone. This feeling's just for you and your wrongs. I am just here to do my job.
Sitting in his lap, I wined my hips, thinking of everything else but him.
I wish this was Josiah. I thought, feeling myself getting choked up. I wanted him to come and save me.
"Damn, girl." The guy whispered in my ear as I laid my head into the crook his neck. I felt him stuffing more money into my thong as I bit my lip to keep from crying.
After a long, menacing 3 minutes and 8 seconds, the dance was finally over and I pulled myself away from him. Looking down at him, I could see that he was a little too excited and I almost threw up at the sight.
"Private dance in the champagne room?" He went onto ask.
"Um.." I trailed off, remembering what Chocolate said.
I need this money. I thought to myself.
"Just a dance." I told him and he nodded with a smirk.

"Just a dance." He repeated.
Sighing, I kept on my poker face and guided him toward the champagne room. We passed the bouncer and made our way to the first room available.
"$500." I told him as he sat down.
"It's already in your thong." He pointed as I looked at myself in the body mirror, seeing he already put a few hundreds in my thong.
"Okay."
The next song played as I turned around and bent over in front of him.
"Damn." He encouraged as I shook my ass.
"Let me see them titties."
Not even looking at him, I took my top off and threw it onto the floor. I turned around and walked in between his legs. I then straddled his lap as I grinded onto his hard Piece.
Ew. Ew. Ew. I thought.
Doing a 360, I turned myself around so that I didn't have to see the look on his face as I grinded slowly. I could feel his hands moving which means he was enjoying this and putting more money into my thong so that was completely fine with me.
After two songs was over, I finally got off of him and walked out.
"Wait, whats your name little mama?" He went on to ask.
"Ruby." I told him my stripper name and he nodded with a smirk.
"Alright, Ruby." He repeated.
Leaving, I made my way back to the room and wiped myself down before putting all of the money I made with him into my bag. I didn't count it but my bag was full. Just that quick.
"Monty, you alright?" Chocolate asked me and I nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Heard you went to the champagne room.." She trailed off, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah. I didn't do anything other than dance though." I assured her and she nodded.
"Good."
"What's that?" She furrowed her eyebrows as I turned around.
"What's what?" I asked as she pointed at something on my thong.
"Is that..?"
Looking in the mirror, my eyes went wide and my mouth dropped. I had all over my thong.

Walking into the house, it was quiet so I knew my mother wasn't home. I slowly made my way up the stairs, trying not to throw up from what happened tonight. I just wanted and needed to shower.
Walking in my room, I turned the light on, almost jumping out of my skin once I saw Josiah knocked out in my bed.
Panicking, I dropped everything, putting my bags in the closet. I then went to the bathroom and washed the heavy, glittery makeup off of my face. I then began my shower water.
"Montana." I heard Josiah calling me as he came out of my room and made his way toward the bathroom.
"How did you get in here?" I asked once he came into view.
"You know I know where y'all hide the spare key." He admitted and I simply nodded.
"Come here." He bit his lips, pulling me to him.
Feeling disgusting, I slightly pulled away as he tried to kiss my lips. Once he realized that I wasn't going to kiss him, he mugged me.
"What's up?" He asked, sternly.
"Nothing." I lied, biting my lip.
"I can't kiss you now?"
"You're still mad about earlier?" He asked, referring to him cursing me out after I asked him not to and me hanging up in his face once I got to work.
"It's not that, Joey." I sighed, feeling like shit.
"Then gimme a kiss and stop playing." He leaned down and kissed my lips passionately before pushing his tongue into my mouth.
Things then started to get heated as our tongues fought for dominance.
"Let me eat your pussy." He spoke aggressively against my lips.
"Joey, stop." I begged once he wrapped his arms around my waist, trying to get me out of my clothes.
I knew we were about to go there and I really needed to shower before I could do anything with him. It just didn't feel right.
"What's up? I can't touch you?"
"Just let me shower first. I just got off of work." I fussed.
Saying nothing, he let me go and walked out of the bathroom. I knew he was upset but he'd thank me if he knew the real reason why I was doing this.

She bled out on her front doorstep following a sudden three-day absence. Seven years have passed, with her little brother—Adam—now standing at eighteen years of age. Following his sister's death, he lived the life of a delinquent, wandering the grimy streets of the city of Steeldale. Unbeknowst to him, the day before university, he will be thrust from Steeldale into a brand new world. It is a world where a cherry red sky gazes down upon a fragmented continent, on which civilisations from other worlds have been dumped like refuse. The souls of man leak from their fingertips, coalescencing into superhuman powers and horrible fleshy monstrosities. Tribes of refugees clash against each other, attempting to carve out a place in this unrefined space. With no choice, Adam must traverse this dangerous new world, with Mary's shadow following him every step of the way. This is my entry to the April 2021 Writathon.
