"Uhm.." you muttered, then you reached your hand out and took it. He licked his lips and continued walking. The Urtica, or what Salad Fingers would call "Nettles" stung your hand, but you didn't want to be rude. "W-why do we need this?" You quietly asked. He stopped for afew moments, then looked at you. "They are a pleasure to have. I can't seem to find many anymore.." he said. "H-here.." you said, giving him back the plant. He grabbed it from you, then rubbed it on his chin.
You tried not to look at him. You rubbed your arm, nervously. "Now, we ought to go see aunty bainbridge. She has been taking care of my lovely daughter over the months. I've been so busy, I have yet to visit her." He has a daughter?? Wow!
After awhile, you both made it out of the woods and went up to a house. It was the same house from before! With the yellow guy! Salad fingers curled up his fingers and knocked the door. The creature opened the door, and stared up at salad fingers. "Ah, aunty bainbridge! It's been such awhile since I've seen you!" Salad exclaimed. Strange enough, this creature was his.. aunt?
His aunt stared blankly at him. "Ah, may I see my younge girl Yvonne? I miss her dearly!" He said. His aunt made a high-pitched screech. "Ah, thank you!" He said, then walked around the house. "She should be out back doing y-yard work, (y/n)." He told me. You could tell he was mighty happy. You made it around the house, and didn't see anything. "Ahh," He said, his smile growing wider.
He walked forward and kneeled down to the sand. You looked down at what he was looking at. Alittle bit of some-sort Of black goo. "Your all grown up, Yvonne.." beside it was a bucket, half mostly buried by the sand. His eyes where filled up with tears. You stared awkwardly at salad fingers.

After a moment, he started singing; "you are my sunnnnshinnee..... my only sunnnnshinnee..." his crackly voice sang to his.. Uhm.. daughter. You remebered this song. When it first came out about a year ago in 1940, You would listen to it on your radio. "You make me happyyy..l when sky's are gray..." he slowly sang.
After awhile of him talking to the goo, and you awkwardly watching, he said goodbye as he stood to him feet. Tears rolled down his face. You felt really bad for him.. "Well, I'll b-be back to visit, Yvonne.. daddy will-will be sure to come before the edge of the y-year..." He sniffled.
You scratched your rashed hand. Salad turned around and started walking, then looked back at you. "Who are you?"
You don't remember me?
Don't say anything.

Long gone are the days when every hero could do whatever they wanted - now, we are civilised. We have government. Law. And proper forms. Lots of proper forms. (Final episode 25/07/2022. Also - beta readers far into the book rate the 'gore' degree as below 2/10, so the warning is a bit much) Mary Susan Oceanrunner is a poor girl from the orphanage, who like many others before, has to fulfil her destiny. The prophecy had been told, and she is the only one who can make things right. Erm... probably. Anyway, she can't just go and kill monsters like in the middle ages. First, she must apply for the appropriate permissions, fill the forms, learn about the proper loot taxations... Hey, no one said adventuring would be easy, right? Disclaimers: No claim made by any character by the book should be treated as the author's or anyone else's opinion on any subject. Most likely, it was just the funniest thing the Author could think of at the time of writing. This book contains many references to other works. It will probably be best enjoyed by individuals familiar with at least some of the following: 1) Computer games2) Fantasy in general3) Science fiction4) Tabletop RPGs5) Conspiracy theories6) Corporation work life7) Long forgotten prophecies uttered millennia ago in almost as forgotten languages under a starless night three dusks before the great convergence8) Filling any government-mandated form9) School10) EnglishMy ultimate goal is to make as many people experience something akin to joy while reading (think ~a bit louder exhale through the nose). It doesn't mean every scene will be funny or joyful because that's not how this stuff works. I can neither confirm nor deny having any other hidden agenda outside of that.
