《LITTLE FURY ( fairy tail. )》CHAPTER TWO ➵ A HOMEBASE

Dealana was angry. The wizards didn't believe her when she told them her father was Arashi the great dragon of storms, but also she used most of her magic energy trying to escape the spiky blonde. Laxus was his name according to the old man. Dealana sprinted through Magnolia, her bare feet already rough from growing up without shoes. She still had growing up to do, but Arashi told not to worry about the future when she was just a little runt.
Runt. That's what her adopted dad called her. When the boy, Laxus called her a runt, it didn't sound the same as Arashi. Looking around, Dealana realized she was lost. She meant to run to East Forest to continue her search for Arashi but she had gotten so deep into her memories she ended up in an unfamiliar area. A low rumbling sound filled Dealana's ears and she looked around for any threat before she realized she was hungry.
No time for food. Find Arashi then eat. It seemed like a good plan when she took off once more before her stomach rumbled again and she couldn't ignore the emptiness she felt. Scanning her surroundings, Dealana was in Magnolia's Central Park. She figured that there could be some fruit or something around so she began to wander about at a slow pace taking in the pretty scenery. She had never had the time to explore the forests when living with Arashi since she was either training or trying to keep up with the dragon's fast pace.
"There you are." a voice said from behind her. Dealana turned around to find a young red-headed girl wearing armor. Dealana wouldn't admit it but she was fascinated by the shiny armor. Dealana was about to use wind to help her escape when her stomach rumbled again causing the red-head to give her a strange look. "Are-are you hungry?" she asked with the hint of a smile
"No." Dealana said harshly before her stomach rumbled again. Both girls' eyes widened at the noise before Dealana turned to escape only to bump into the raven-haired boy. She fell onto her butt before she growled at them. "I need to find my dad. Let me go." she snapped
"You can't go looking for your dad without food." the red-head reprimanded
"Besides, you're just a little kid. You shouldn't be alone." the raven-hair added
"We can help you find your dad if you come with us." the red-head offered

"My dad doesn't like people, if I go with you I'll never find him." Dealana said
"You'll never find him if you starve." raven-hair retorted
"I just - I just want my dad. I don't have anyone else and he just left without saying goodbye." Dealana sniffled tears started to stream down her face as she gave into the emotions she'd been holding in.
"Aww, please don't cry... seriously, please don't cry." the raven-haired boy freaked out. A drop of water hit Dealana's nose. She looked up to see a darkened sky and rain clouds gathering.
"Is this...her?" the redhead mumbled to herself. "Let's head back to the guild, Gray." she said picking up Dealana who made no protest and instead latched onto Erza like a little koala. Erza was slightly surprised by the action and Gray simply smirked at the little girl.
The rain continued to pour over Magnolia, and the Fairy Tail guild now huddled inside the guild hall where the little runaway was devouring a sandwich.
"Slow down, there's no rush." Erza scolded the tiny child. It had been a funny sight to see the tough Erza enter the guild with a little girl clinging very tightly to her waist, Erza hadn't even needed to hold her there.
"Sorry." Dealana spoke through a mouthful. She finished the sandwich and looked up at the red-head mage "I like your armor." Erza's lip twitched upward at the compliment, "Arashi never let me have shiny metals because of the lightning. He did let me have a book of spells for when I got older..." she trailed off before she gasped "My things! I left them at the cave!"
"Woah, it's okay Dealana we can go get them later when the rain clears up." Gray interjected as the girl jumped up to leave again. Dealana perked up a bit after he spoke.
"The rain?" she grinned widely before heading to the doors stepping outside.
"Hey! Wait!" Gray called after her but paused when she was standing still looking at the sky with her arms slightly stretched out. A light blue magic circle appeared under her feet, and several guild members watched in awe as the rainclouds slowly faded away, revealing the bright sun. Dealana turned around with a closed eye smile,
"Can we go now?"
"Okay, so how did you do that rain thing?" Gray asked Dealana when Erza, Dealana, and himself were on a trail in the East Forest.

"Mmm, Arashi is a storm dragon and he taught me storm dragon magic. When I'm sad or upset the places around me get all stormy." she explained with a bright smile "Arashi told me when I got bigger I would be able to stop it." her face fell "If I can't find Arashi how will I learn?" she sniffled
"Hey, don't cry. You were so tough before." Gray tried to console her. Out of habit, she rubbed the scar on her nose.
"Arashi said I had to tough in order to learn. I try to be tough and strong but I'm not very good at it." she said quietly
"Actually, you managed to get away from Laxus for a while, that's pretty tough of you." Erza chuckled
"Really?" Dealana's different colored eyes sparkled, "He was very strong, my wind gusts had no effect on him."
After a long and mostly silent treck, Dealana happily skipped over to the looming cave ahead. Entering the cave, Erza and Gray looked around at the damp interior and iridescent crystals growing on the walls and ceiling. It was a large cave but Dealana went right past them to her little corner. It had bed that consisted of dozens of blankets scrunched up like a nest and carved out a few shelves in the stone wall.
Dealana found an old satchel and stuffed her favorite blankets from her nest, her book of dragonslayer magic, and her necklace. The necklace was a feather charm from some sort of pretty bluebird and a crystal charm from one of the many in the cave. The charms were attached to a leather cord Dealana wore around her neck.
"Hey! I never got this charm." she fingered a deep blue-gray scale that was now attached to her necklace, "It's one of Arashi's scales. I guess he did say goodbye. How did I not notice before?" she sighed.
"Let's head back to the guild now, Dealana." Erza called
"Coming!"
Back at the guild, Dealana had shown Erza her book, who was surprised at the spells listed inside.
"I can't read them yet since Arashi was going to teach me to read." Dealana explained, "But he told me that this book is very special."
"It is, and you know I can teach you to read and write if you want." Erza offered
"Maybe..." Dealana trailed off looking at all the happy members drinking and talking, "But I have to keep searching for Arashi."
"You can keep searching for Arashi, but you're going to need a place to stay and perhaps a home base." Erza told the little girl
"A home base?" she echoed
"It's a place where you can go out and search before coming back when you need to get more supplies or stuff." a new voice jumped in, it was Gray
"Sounds useful." Dealana said softly
"You know, you should join Fairy Tail. It would make it easier to search for your dad, and you'd gain lots of new friends." Gray smirked
"I don't know... I did cause a bit of trouble before this, would you even want me?" Dealana asked softly
"Of course, we all have had a rough start, Dealana. I'm sure Fairy Tail would love to have you." Erza encouraged
A few minutes later and a small talk with Master Makarov, Dealana was now a member of Fairy Tail with a black guild mark on the inside of her wrist. A celebration soon followed and by the end, everyone seemed knocked out cold aside from a few. Dealana wandered over to the bored Laxus tapping him on the knee from where he was sitting. He opened one eye and saw Dealana before taking the headphones off of one ear.
"What do you want, runt?" he asked gruffly, Dealana was unaffected by his tone as it was similar to the one Arashi always spoke to her in.
"Sorry for running away earlier and trying to knock you away with the wind." she apologized looking at her feet. Laxus sighed
"It's alright, your wind was weak." he said bluntly, Dealana's head snapped up in surprise a small frown growing on her face, Laxus smirked before continuing, "But that lighting trick you pulled on Gray was pretty neat." Dealana smiled a bit before Laxus put the headphones back on and closed his eyes again signaling to the little girl that he didn't want to talk anymore. Dealana wandered back to everyone else with a seed of determination to improve growing in her heart.

My second life in a fantasy world
Important Announcement: English is not my first language, sorry for the mistakes After living a long life on earth, it was finally time to leave, bedridden in a hospital, surrounded by a large family, between sobs and sad goodbye glances, bearing many memories, some good, some bad, funny moments, sad moments, happy moments, tragic moments, I finally closed my eyes and plunged into the abyss of darkness and what awaited me on the other side was ... An old ex-mercenary hungry for adventure is reincarnated in a world of swords and magic, with no trap powers, just his own strength, wits, and outlandish friends. P.S. I am a totally amateur writer, I write just for fun, I am working on illustrations with another person, I plan to put one on the cover of each chapter reflecting its content. At the moment I already have partially assembled the story, I just need to polish a little, the rhythm in which the chapters appear may vary. The original version in Spanish can be found here for the curious https://www.wattpad.com/myworks/250682744-mi-segunda-vida-en-un-mundo-de-fantas%C3%ADa

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
