I was sleeping good as hell until I heard Duck and Eli bust into my room. I rolled over and groaned.
"Awwwww!" Eli cooed, both of them clearly laughing at the fact that me and Rell were sleeping on the same bed.
Literally hate it here.
"Boy shut the fuck up!" I flipped over on the bed, hoping they'd leave. Rell was already starting to wake up.
"Say Mir! Come look at these niggas!" Eli laughed. Mir walked by the room and chuckled before walking off.
Getcho non talkin ass-
"Yall aggy yo.." I mumbled, finally getting up from the bed.
"He ain' tried to touch you or anything right?" Duck bucked at Rell.
"Nah." I laughed as Duck and Rell started
slap boxing. I eyed them, making sure they didn't fuck up my room because I always keep everything organized.
"That's right nigga, you better keep yo hands to yo self, especially when it comes to this one!" Eli yelled making Rell flip him off as he waked into my bathroom.
I rolled my eyes and headed out of my room and into the bathroom in the hallway. As soon as I stepped past the living room, I saw Mir sitting on the couch twisting his hair in one hand and scrolling through his phone with the other.
This nigga literally exists for no reason.
Dude just be on his phone and has attitude problems..
I went into the bathroom and did my hygiene before going to the kitchen where the rest of the boys had congregated to. I opened the top cabinet and as soon as I tried to reach for a mug I could feel my whole hand ache.
"Fuck!" I said lowly, more so to myself. The boys halted their conversation and turned around.
"What's wrong Mari?" Duck asked and I held up my hand to show him my bruised knuckle. My entire hand was aching, from my wrist to my fingertips. I guess thats what my slow ass gets for punching the sidewalk instead of Justice's face.
"I think you sprained yo wrist or sum." Eli handed me an ice pack.
"It fucking hurts.." I groaned, holding the ice over my knuckles.
"You wanna go to the hospital or sum?" Eli offered. I shook my head and looked up at him with a knowing look. He didn't say anything since he knew exactly why.
I hated hospitals. Every time I stepped foot in one I was instantly reminded of Bri'on laying on his hospital bed as the heart monitors went flat. All I can remember is how I held his lifeless hand and cried so hard that it literally hurt to blink. So I avoid hospitals all together. I definitely don't wanna relive that and it's bad enough even the slightest things are a constant reminded of the fact that my older brother's life was wrongfully taken.
Eli patted my back lightly and nodded. Even fhrough his silence, I know he understood why I didn't wanna go to the hospital. After all, he was there with me when everything happened. It would feel like deja vu for the both of us.
About an hour later the boys had finally got up to leave.
"Just keep icing yo shit Mari." Duck told me and I nodded. I gave Duck a hug and Eli came over and kissed the top of my head before they all walked out the door.

How the fuck am I gon do somebody's lashes with this hand?
"So I had like 6 clients today." I told my momma on FaceTime while I ate a fruit salad.
"How much you make ?" She asked. I could hear her shuffling stuff around and judging by the purple walls, she was cleaning my lil' sister Layva's room.
"Twenty one hunnid." I smiled and stared at the stack of money that sat on the coffee table in front of me. After my hand started aching yesterday, I was considering cancelling people's appointments but when I woke up this morning the pain wasn't as bad. It still hurt, but I could function and I definitely wasn't going to miss out on any money. So I popped an Advil, sucked up the pain, and took all of the clients I had today.
"I know thats mufuckin right!" My momma slightly yelled and I laughed, "Ghetto asss!"
"Watchu been up to though, momma?"
"Nothin' really, just caught up with work, thats all." She replied and I nodded.
"How's my dad.?" I asked hesitantly.
Me and my dad were cool, definitely not as close as me and my momma. He was in and out of my childhood and always "working" also known as selling. For some reason that didn't bother my mom 'cause she knew how to take care of us and she knew who my dad was when they first got together. But it aways bothered me and Bri'on. Especially after my lil' sister Layva was born and the man still didn't try to get his ass out of the streets for his family's same.
I knew he still had a lot of love for us since we're his kids after all. But after Bri'on died, he drowned himself in his "work," trying to take his mind off of his death. My mom and Layva needed him. But he distanced himself and started coming home even later than he was when Bri'on was alive.
I had already lost all my respect for him when he missed out on vital parts of me and my brother's childhood to sell drugs. But not being there for my momma when she lost her son? I lost even more respect for him after that.
But of course my momma didn't see an issue with it. She kept saying, "everyone deals with death differently Mari, you can't blame someone for choosing not to be upfront with their emotions." I was convinced she was just sayin' that because she's in love with him and all, but still— people you love should be there for you regardless.
A grown man shouldn't be so deep in the streets that he can't be there for his family when they're grieving the loss of their brother and child.
She cleared her throat "He's good baby.. been asking bout you."
Tuh, aight. Been askin about me but can't even shoot me a text..?
I talked to my mom for a little while before hanging up and taking a quick shower. I put some lotion on and changed into some joggers and a tank top. I tidied up my room and laid on my bed, scrolling through my phone.

minutes later to the sound of knocking at my front door. I groaned and got up to open the door and saw Destini, Tasia, Kali and Aijah standing there with bags of Chick Fil A.
"We're here bitch." Destini cheesed and threw her arms around me, giving me a hug.
"I didn't even know yall asses were coming. Don't get me wrong though, the food is still welcome." I gave them a sarcastic smile as I held the door open.
"Bye as fuck! You know you love us." Tasia blew me a kiss, walking passed me and into the kitchen.
"I guess." I mumbled, following the rest of the girls into the kitchen. We separated the food and sat at the island while we ate.
"So Tasia, you and Duck still fuckin on the low?" Kali said bluntly and all of our jaws dropped.
"You and WHO?" Aijah emphasized making Tasia
laugh.
"Chill! It's nun serious." She shrugged and we all looked around at each other, knowing she was lying like fuck. It's cute that she thinks we don't know. Every time we're out, they leave within 20 minutes of one another. It isn't hard to put two and two together, especially when they've been doing it for as long as I could even remember
"Mmmhmmm." Destini dragged sarcastically, biting into her chicken sandwich.
"Is the dick good though?" Aijah raised her eyebrows.
"Yes. Very." Tasia said all dramatically, dropping her head back, and banging her hand on the counter. "Like whew! When I tell y'all I be screaming his name like there's no tomorr-" Tasia started before we cut her off.
"Uhn uhn. Shut up."
"Whoa bitch."
"We didn't need to know allat! I'm EATING, miss girl." I stared at her in disbelief while she died laughing.
We stood around the island eating and continued talking about Tasia and Duck. Soon enough, the front door unlocked and in walked Reece, Eli, Mir, Rell, and Duck.
"Speakin of the fuckin devil.." Tasia mumbled, turning her back towards the boys who had gathered around the door way of the kitchen, since it's right next to the front door.
"She ask me how high do I get I told her
high as Duck!" Rell rapped and mushed Duck's head forward while they walked into the kitchen.
"You have to be fuckin' kidding me ." I sighed seeing them file in one by one.
"When did my apartment become your headquarters? I should've never gave you a key Duck!" He just shrugged in response and started digging through the girl's food while Reece came around the island to give me a hug.
"Boy! Where you been at? Yo ass died or sum?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Yea." He smiled, clearly high as hell.
"Say, I seen that stupid ass comment you made Kali!" Eli pointed at her.
"Tuh, you know it's true nigga. Bye!" Kali mushed his head. I mean everyone knows they be fuckin', we just choose not to say shit about it.
"No it ain't! I didn't try to fuck you yesterday delusional ass girl! I tried to fuck you the day before.." Eli mumbled and Kali looked at him like he was dumb.
"Goofy nigga." Mir laughed, displaying his perfectly white and straight teeth.
Awh his lil' laugh is cute.
It's a shame his attitude is worse than mine.
Eventually everyone spread out through my apartment, being wrapped up in their own convos while the boys shot dice on the floor in the living room.
Ghetto as fuck.
I walked into the kitchen and saw Mir sitting down on the stool at the island. We made eye contact and I rolled my eyes before going to the counter to unplug my phone since Eli decided to use the charger in my room.
"Hand me that water bottle right quick." Mir told me and I handed it to him without saying anything. He took a sip of water and darted his tongue out to lick his bottom lip. I didn't even realize I was staring at him 'till we made eye contact and I looked back down at my phone. If anyone has eyes that could bore into your soul, it's him.
"Watchu staring at me for?" He rubbed his chin, looking me up and down and making the hair on the back of my neck rise.
Unless he wants to eat the cat ima need him to stop lookin at me like that.
"Did you kill that nigga the other day? When you left my apartment?" I asked, putting my phone down and crossing my arms over my chest. That question just happened to be the first thing I thought of. I just wanted to get off the topic of me staring at him.
His eyes trailed down to my chest, that i'm guessing was poking through my tank top, before he looked up at my face again. "Naw." He said, drinking from the bottle again and I was glad his gaze was elsewhere.
"But you did shoot him though." I said matter-of-factly.
Mir tilted his head, "How would you know.?"
He replied with a slight attitude, as fuckin' usual. I was hoping we could get through one conversation without his attitude but I guess not. I shrugged in response.
"I shot him in the leg." He shrugged, looking me dead in my eyes, obviously trying to see if I would falter by his response.
"Okay.."I pressed my lips together 'cause the conversation was getting awkward.
"Why you assume I killed him?" He squinted his eyes at me accusingly.
"You want me to lie?" I raised my eyebrows and he shook his head. "'Cause you look like you could be a killer." I shrugged while he looked like he wanted
to laugh.
The nigga barely talks, always mugs people,
always gotta attitude, and be shooting people for fun-
Bye he's a killer.
Ted Bundy type beat??
"You funny." He grinned and I straight-faced him. He lifted his water bottle again and I finally took notice of a bunch of bruises all over his right arm, faintly covered by his tattoos.
"Whats all 'em bruises on yo arm?"
I know it's not my place but like I gotta
know—
Do he be gettin' beat at home?
"Fuck you wanna know for?" He responded mugging the fuck out of me.
Just when I thought his attitude wasn't as bad..
I rolled my eyes and walked out of the kitchen, already feeling Mir's eyes on my back. I walked into the living room and sat down on the couch next to Destini who was already grinning.
"I seen you and ole boy talkin. Mkay Mari." She nudged me with her shoulder and I stared at her blankly.
"Gir- please. That nigga is rude as fuck. Like I can't een get a word out without his ass havin' an attitude." I ranted and Des laughed and shook her head like she didn't believe me.
I heard the front door unlock and I turned around to see Duck coming in with his arm wrapped around Tasia's waist while she walked in front of him. As soon as their eyes landed on me, Destini, and Aijah in the living room, they tried to slowly step away from each other.
But they're not—?
Bye.
"Where yall asses go?" Eli walked out of the bathroom that's near the front door.
"Um no where, fuck." Tasia quickly waved him off.
Yea.
Not suspicious at all.
"Tuh, ight." I laughed while Tasia came and sat next to me on the couch. I waited few minutes before discreetly grabbing Tasia, and pulling her down the hall and into my room.
"Whats wrong?" Tasia asked looking at me like I was crazy, while she closed the door behind her.
"Okay, tell me forreal, where did you and Duck go?" I wiggled my eyebrows and she bussed out laughing.
"Tas, I swe-"
"We went to his car." She replied and I squinted my eyes at her in confusion.
"Backseat." She blurted and my mouth dropped.
"Backsea- A quickie?" I asked with wide eyes.
"Yes ma'am." She laughed.
"Damn Tas! It's that good he couldn't wait 'till everyone left to take you back to his crib?" I shook my head with my hands on my hips.
"Haaa, you're funny." She laughed sarcastically. I playfully shoved her while we walked out of the room. Walking back into the living room, I noticed Duck, Eli, and Rell were gone. Mir and Reece sat on the couch passing a blunt between themselves while Destini, Aijah and Kali stood in the kitchen.
"Where the other boys went?" I asked Reece.
"They had sum to take care of, they just left." He answered, passing the blunt back to Mir who put it to his lips and took a pull.
Before I could say anything, the front door flew open and Duck came storming into the apartment. Everyone halted their conversations and turned their attention towards him. He was completely out of breath.
"Yall, It's Eli." He said, his chest heaving up and down, "He got shot."
