《Allure.》Chapter Two

When my father had gotten up to the room my mother was trying her best to console the girl but nothing seemed to be working.

My father grabbed my mother by her elbow and let her just outside of the room. I could hear them talking but I couldn't make out what they were saying. I slowly approached the girl and bent down beside her.

"Hi Im Savannah" I said as I continued to look her up and down. She had dark auburn hair and her eyes were read and puffy. It looked like she had been crying for weeks.

She lifted her face from within her palms wiped away some tears and said in a shaky voice "My n-nnames Rayleigh"

My Mother and Father were still mumbling outside. I was engrossed in my conversation with Rayleigh.

Within the few short minutes we spoke I found out that her mother had just passed away and she had no where to go. It made me really sad, at that age I couldn't even imagine not having my parents around. They were my constant. I still can't imagine my life without my Mama or Daddy.

An hour later Rayleigh, Mama, Daddy and I were sitting in our new kitchen having cookies and milk that Daddy had got from the bakery in town.Rayleigh looked absolutely famished as she shoved cookie after cookie in her mouth. It was actually quiet impressive.

We were all interrupted when we heard a loud thud at the door.

It was the sheriff. Sheriff Williams I soon found out.

Sheriff gave my parents a brief low down of Rayleighs situation. At the time I was completley oblivious but I later came to understand the events that put her in such predicament.

Her mother and father had split up when she was only 2 years old. Her father was a member of Forsaken Anarchy the local motorcycle gang and her mother had just passed away from ovarian cancer. She had no one. Her father wanted nothing to do with Rayleigh. So my parents made the decision to foster Rayleigh... eventually adopting her when we were 12. It was great growing up with a sister. A God send really after years of putting up with my two older brothers Jackson and Austin and their reign of terror.

My flashback was interrupted when I had the wind knocked out of me by none other than my two annoying brothers; Jackson and Austin. "Congrats baby sis" they said in unison giving me a hug sandwich. "Thanks losers" I replied as I tried to shove them both of off me.

Luckily within seconds my father and mother were striding towards me.

"Get off of you sister" my father bellowed

Jackson and Austin immediately removed their grip on me. It was funny that no matter how old they got they still obeyed my father.

I let out a sigh of relief "ahhh.. thanks daddy" I said as I leaned into him.

"No problems darling" he said as he kissed me on the top of the head.

"I can't believe my babies have graduated" My mother said shifting her glance between Rayleigh and me. "Mama don't cry" I said, I could see tears swelling up in her eyes.

Rayleigh looked at me and the rest of my brothers grabbed everyone and pulled us in for a group hug.

Rayleigh had graduated today too. But unlike me her major wasn't law it was Journalism. She loved being in the spotlight and she had a real knack for it. I was always jealous of her self confidence - she never seemed to give a shit what other people thought about her. Something I wish I could do.
