《Match》11

As soon as I arrived home the door was swung open and Callum stormed out, almost knocking me to the floor in the process.
"What's with you?" I shouted but he just slammed the car door in reply.
Callum hadn't spoken one word to me since yesterday after school. He had been keeping himself to himself. Purposefully staying out of my way. Even when it came to dinner when Mom had been work, he'd take his food upstairs just to ignore me.
I didn't know how to speak to him because he kept hiding from me.
I walker inside and tossed off my shoes, accidentally scaring my Mom.
"Oh hello sweety!" She kissed me on the head and shrugged on her bag.
"Where are you going?" I asked her. "And what's with him?" I gestured to a very angry looking Callum.
"I'm taking him to his football tryouts but he's annoyed that he can't drive himself. He specifically said how it's not "cool" to be driving your son anywhere now. His words not mine." She held up her hands in defence and sighed. I smiled to myself as I pulled my phone out from my pocket and took a picture of him. Grumpy ass.
"Make sure he doesn't see that picture because you know what he's like." She murmured against my head before kissing it. "Goodbye sweetheart." She closer the door behind her and I had a great idea forming. It included sending the sweet picture of Callum to everyone I knew - which was only my friends.
Sad, I know.
You think that is hot?
Very much so.
Drop his number x
Is it just me who doesn't find him hot?
THANK YOU
After messaging back and fourth, I shoved my phone back into my pocket and ran upstairs to get dressed. I discarded of my denim shorts and shirt and put on some sweatpants and a tee. I wandered back downstairs and into the kitchen to grab myself a snack.
Movie marathon!
For the past two hours or so, I had been cooped-up in bed watching romantic films with a bag of popcorn.
Romantic films made me well aware of my relationship status and that I would never be able to find someone who loved me the way Four loves Tris.
I wondered if anyone would ever come to love me as I wanted them to. You saw all the perfect relationships in the movies, forgetting the imperfect parts of when something bad happens and you're practically rooting for them. Everything seemed so perfect in the films and I wondered if I'd ever get something like that.
The doors slammed shut downstairs and I jumped, popcorn dropping from my mouth. I peered down at my computer screen, eyes squinting at the very bright light coming from it. The curtains were drawn, the door was shut; the only source of light was my laptop screen. Five thirty, the clock blinked.
Mom came home twenty five minutes after she left to drop Callum off but then she had to go out again. To some family gathering - of course me and Callum didn't go. We never went, we always tried to get out of it - that was one thing we could agree on together.
My heart started to race when I heard muffled chatter downstairs, voices belonging to men. I slid my laptop off my bed and took out my headphones from my ears, carefully tip-toeing over to the window. I grabber ahold of the curtains and pulled them apart, face pressed up against the glass as I looked out at the drive.

There were two cars plus mine. One other car I noticed. A mustang. A mustang I knew of all too well.
I felt my shoulders relax from its tense position when I realised I wasn't going to get kidnapped.
Hopefully not anyway.
I pulled on a jumper and slipper into my bunny slippers with no realisation of how kiddish I looked and made my way down the stairs. The muffled chatter got more profound and clearer as I walked down, hand gripping the railing.
As I got to the bottom of the stairs I peered round the corner and gulped. Both Marcus and Theo were in my house!
My eyes fell on Theo as he leant against the wall, his tanned, toned arms stuffed into the pockets of his blue baggy jeans. The black top clinging onto his broad shoulders and around his svelte waist.
I watched as one of his hands took itself through his soft fluffy brown hair, pulling back the thick tussles for it to only fall over his face again.
Annoying as he was, I couldn't deny the fact that he was extremely handsome.
"Is your sister here, man?" I heard Marcus ask and I looked at him. Blonde sandy hair, golden as the sun.
I watched as Theo tensed at the question and I leant my head against the wall.
Callum shrugs. "She's somewhere, dude..."
Marcus turned back to Theo, playfully hitting him in the chest and winking. Theo looked at Marcus with a straight face, turning back to Callum who looked oddly uncomfortable.
My eyebrows knitted together in total confusion. What were they all meaning with their body language? I couldn't help feeling quietly excited... but I wasn't sure why...
Callum silently gestured for them to follow him through into the kitchen and I followed quietly behind. Then I was suddenly deciding against that. What if they saw me?!
As I was about to run off into the lounge, Marcus' eyes caught me. All I could do was stand still, an awkward smile on my face, one bunny rabbit slipper in mid-air!
Shit he had caught me... I might as well be on a stage, stood naked in the spotlight, the way Theo's eyes were burning into mine...
I chided myself for my over-active imagination!
"There she is!" Marcus said and I stepped into the kitchen, hands clutching on the hem of my jumper.
I watched as they all took a seat on the island, apart from Theo who was leaning against the counter, his arms folded, eyes facing down at his hands. I watched as he twisted the metal rings around his fingers. Needless to say he liked to accessorise.
I quietly sat down on the high chairs with them, pulling my legs up to my chest, hugging them close to myself.
I took the chance to look at Theo again. That was when I realised he har a beauty mark on the tip of his nose, not a dark one to be able to see from afar, but a light dot that contrasts with his skin. He has many blemishes on his tanned, defined face.
Theo leant further over the counter and a metal necklace fell out from his top. A metal chain with some sort of heart key chain attached to it. My eyes squinted as I tried to look closer but suddenly the necklace was gone and I looker up to be met with the piercing eyes of Theo as he shoved it away under his top.
I nibbled on my bottom lip and leant back in my seat, hands growing slightly shaky. "How old are you Willow?" Marcus' voice cut my thoughts short and I turner to look at him.

Callum rolled his eyes and playfully slapped his side but Marcus paid no mind, his hazel eyes waiting for my answer. I shuffled on the seat. "I'm seventeen. Why?"
"He probably fancies you." Theo commented with no tone in his voice, his face was straight. It was like he had no emotion in his face.
"Ew! Dude! That's my sister!" Callum groaned, almost throwing up. He got up and grabbed the home phone in his hand and sat back down with a shake of his head.
"I do not have a crush on your sister!" Marcus retorted. "I have a girlfriend!" He threw his hands up in the air in defence, a half smile on his face.
"Hey man, can you pass the pizza menu just there?" Callum pointed to the bowl that held all of the takeaway menu's that sat on the counter and Theo stood up straight, adjusting his top as he grabbed the menu and tossing it over to Callum.
Callum stood up from the seat again and then wandered out of the kitchen leaving me alone with Marcus and Theo. Marcus scooter closer to me on his chair, throwing an arm around me.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" Was all he said and I felt Theo's hot gaze on me. Theo leant up from his position, the lip ring wobbling against his lip.
I coughed and shuffled on my seat more. I had never known someone to be so upfront and bold. "N-" I went to say when Theo cut me off.
"Man cut it out." He grunted and shoved his hands into his pockets. I saw the way his brows arched pointedly at Marcus.
Marcus rolled his eyes and that seems to be the end of that discussion. That was a relief...!
Twenty minutes went by and the pizza finally arrived. Mom had said to order take-out because she was going to be back later than she expected.
I'd never refuse a take out. Ever.
Callum put the box of pizza in the middle and we all dove in, grabbing slices of the pizza and some other food that there was. I was starving my ass off. The only thing I ate today at lunch was some of Cadences curry. She said she was not really fond of it but she got it anyway because it came with free naan bread.
As more conversations popped up, mostly about how the football tryouts went today, I kept to myself. This was definitely not a topic I knew a lot of. All I knew was that there was a ball, and you had to get it to your side without getting tackled.
I think that was how it worked. I really didn't know.
Though they were boys, popular boys, their company was actually okay, although not as great as my friends. But they were tolerable at the most. Theo remained quiet and distant all through dinner, apart from when he was about to take the last slice of pizza, my stomach growled - most embarrassing thing to happen - though he didn't think so. All he did was push the pizza box to me and that was that.
I couldn't find the strength in me to refuse because I had my eyes on that slice for a while already, too scared to take it in case somebody else wanted it.
I leant back in my chair when I felt my stomach was about to explode. I had had way too much food. Way too much.
Dinner seemed to wrap up fairly quickly and I couldn't understand why Theo had been so quiet. He had muttered a fair share of agreements and a few words regarding the conversations, but that was mostly it.
I jumped when someone scraped back their chair and I looker up to see Theo walking away from the table, grabbing something out of his pocket. Callum muttered something to him and Theo nodder firmly, wandering out into the yard. I pushed away my plate and watched as Theo sat down on the steps, grabbing something else out of his pocket. A lighter and a cigarette.
My eyes trainer in on how his back muscles flexed, and so did the bulges in his arms, flexing and tensing after every slight movement he made. I watched as his shirt stretched, holding on for dear life as he leant down, tapping gently at the end of the bud to allow the ash to drop. He inhaled.
A couple of minutes later he walked back in, walking mindlessly passed me. As he did, my nose caught a whiff of an enticing scent just before he sat back down. The familiar scent I had smelt before at the party; spearmint and honey - but with a hint of smoke and cigarettes too. He smelt exactly how he looked. Mysterious and dark.
His eyes met mine and I froze, squeezing my fists together under the table. Not only did he look like he was piercing holes in me, but he looked as if he was looking for something. The way his forehead pinched together, his jaw tensing and his shoulders widening out.
I looked down at my feet as I felt some sudden heat start to creep its way up from my neck to my cheeks. For sure my cheeks were burning pink by now.
I tried to ignore the way his eyes moved from my face and down to my feet but I couldn't help but give into his stare. I followed his gaze and realised what he was looking at. My bunny slippers. He was probably thinking how childish I was. How childish I was for wearing some crappy worn-out bunny slippers.
Did people even wear slippers anymore? I hadn't seen anyone my age wear slippers, though I didn't know why I would. No one would walk down the street wearing them. Unless they were fashionable and 'on-trend', then that would be a different conversation.
I could tell he was judging me by the way his mouth itched into a smirk. An actual smirk.
Like the time at that party when I was going to drop off Callum's phone to him. When I was only dressed in my pyjamas and a coat. He must of thought how childish and immature I was. Or even silly that a seventeen year old still owned a pair of fluffy bunny rabbit slippers with massive ears on.
I abruptly stood up from my seat and put away my plate and cup, heading straight up to my room with no further words. The only pair of eyes that were aware of me leaving was those same old green ones.
I sped up to my room and shut the door, eyes scanning for my phone. When I located it on my bed I pressed onto the group chat, thumbs shaking as I typed.
HELP!
Theo and Marcus are at my
house if ya'll wanted to know!!
What?!! Why?!
Omg can I come over?? Pls!!
Send proof👀
They came over cuz
they all had football tryouts or
something.
Oh yeah! I forgot about them!
How? We literally spoke
about it earlier?
Did we?
Yes.
This is where we don't get involved..
Exactly..
Nails tomorrow yes?
Making sure we don't forget!
Yes. Can't wait :)
You really don't remember
Angel?
Of course I do.
She doesn't.
Yeah, she really doesn't
I switched off my phone and forced myself to have a shower. I grabber some fresh matching pyjamas and set them down on the toilet seat. I flung off my slippers and kicked them into my room and I took off my clothes, dumping them into the hamper. With my mind feeling happy and excited, I stepped into the shower, allowing the water to fall down on me.
I couldn't wait to spend the day out with my friends tomorrow. It had gotten me a tad bit nervous considering that this was the first day out I'd have with my new friends. But I couldn't help but feel lighter at the fact that they wanted me to come.
Here I was thinking school was going to be bad, but really, I think it was actually going to be okay.
I coated my hair with some strawberry scented shampoo and loathed my body with some shower gel, rinsing them both off before adding some conditioner. After spending a very long time in the shower, dancing singing, imagining I'm in an interview with my celebrity crush and shaving my body, I decided it was time to get out of the shower and not waste anymore water. I wrapped a warm towel around myself and dried my hair with another towel.
I grabbed my box of skin care and hair products from under the sink and searched for my hairbrush.
"Shit." I groaned to myself when I realised I had left it in my Mom's room. I sometimes did my hair in her room because it had got better lighting which was annoying.
Making sure the towel was around me tight enough, I quickly ran into my Mom's room to retrieve it, flinching when my cold wet hair hit my bare skin.
I quietly closed her door and made my way back to my room, but as I did, I very regretfully looked down, and from the hallway, it overlooked the lounge - making me see clearly at the one person I wished was not here.
His eyes bored into mine and I gripped the towel tighter to myself. I had lost count of how many times I had embarrassed myself in his presence. His eyes were hooded and his hair looked as if it had been pushed back - making me look deep into his emerald eyes.
His strong build stood tall and I swallowed thickly when I saw his eyes subtly drag down. But he looked away seconds later.
The feeling of his eyes on me would never feel different.
