Hanging out with 'friends'
"Ugh, I hate the dementors. It's cold." Seraphina groaned. "What d'you expect? A dark wizard escape capture and he has been seen here." Ella shrugged.
"I know, but I hate it. They're creepy."
Tonks soon showed up at the table, "You know there's a spell to protect you from dementor, the Patronus charm. It's difficult to perform."
Seraphina nodded, "We know that charm, I read about it. Is it true your Patronus change when you fall in love?
"Yeah, but that will never happen to me." Tonks winked before leaving the Great Hall.
Ella rolled her eyes jokingly, "Whatever." she muttered to Seraphina. "Anyway, we have potion- where's your book?"
Ella groaned, unfortunate for her, she left her book on her bed. She stood up lazily as Seraphina could see how lazy she is. She as well stood up and followed Ella next to her. "Anyway, Cedric asked a few friends to hang out with them soon in the common room, wanna join?"
Ella thought for a moment. If she goes, won't people be giving looks to her? She hated that very much, every single time she enters the common room, people began to run away or stepped back as if she could kill them.
"No thanks." She answered with no expression. "Oh..then, why not?"
They arrived in their dormitory and spotted her book on her bed. "Because those people loath me. Besides, I like to be alone sometimes."
Suddenly, Seraphina gasped, "We need to hurry! Class starts any minute soon! It is Professor Snape's class!" She squeak and they both quickly ran out, passing people and heard a prefect shouting "No running in the Hall!"
They were panting when they got to potion class with an angry Professor Snape. "You're late, Miss Black." He just mention Ella but didn't even mention Seraphina. "Ten points from Hufflepuff."

Ella took a seat next to Jake and Sera, "Better not messed this up, Black!" one of her roommates, Valgora hissed. She had no idea why Valgora hated her so much.
"Piss off, Valgora. She's not your potion partner." Jake snapped. Their attention turned back to Professor Snape, who was explaining the lesson for today.
Like normal, Professor Snape would just walk by a Gryffindor and took a house point from it for no reason.

The girl was walking around in the hallway whence she spotted Talicia Daniel, leaning on the wall and reading a book. "What you reading?" Ella sat next to Talicia Daniel, who was reading a book.
Talicia shook her book, "Read the title." She said with no emotion. It is clear to Ella that Talicia didn't want her there talking to her and distracting her. So Ella nodded in understatement, "All right, I'll get going now."
Talicia called her to wait before Ella could walk away, "Thank you...for, the time you jinxed him." Talicia said honestly. "He deserved it. You did make it worst though, but it's fine." She flipped the page.
"Okay.... you're welcome." Ella creeps a smile on her face, she's happy that a person is being nice to her, like a friend.
Before their curfew, the first year planned to spend it in the common room but Ella decided to stay in her dormitory. She revived a letter from Uncle Teddy this afternoon from their family's owl.
' Dear Ella,
How has it been going there in Hogwarts? I bet you made a lot of friends. Wow, this house had been quiet than ever! No color powder bomb in this house, but we still miss you. Did you hear? I won a bet with your Aunt! Anyway, hope you're having a great time! We will meet during your Christmas break.

"You're not joining?" She looked up to the door, Cedric Diggory was standing next to it. "No."
Cedric frowned, "Why not? Jake and Connor are sneaking into the kitchen to grab some food. You should join." He invited. Another voice came next to Cedric, "Yeah, being alone isn't fun you know." Amanda Hallor gave a smile before walking away.
Cedric raised an eyebrow, asking her if she was joining or not. For a short while, she stayed quiet but Cedric stayed to hear her answer. She sigh and walk to the door, "All right." she said.
She exited her dorm, walking to the common room with Cedric. The Hufflepuff common room entrance door opened with two boys and food in their hands, "WE GOT IT!!!" Jake shouted with feeling proud, showing the snack he had just taken by sneaking into the kitchen. "Great! At least they know we took some food."
Jake bit his lips and laugh nervously, "Uh. We sort of stole it."
Genevieve clapped her hands, "Stealing isn't good but when it comes to food is a must."
"We have food!" Amanda hopped to Jake, snatching a snack from Jake's hand, "Thank you." She hopped back next to Ella, sitting crossed-legged.
"Did you hear about the Dark Wizard escape capture?" Genevieve dropped herself on the floor, sitting cross-legged like the rest of them. "Yeah, I hate the Dementor." Seraphina gulped.
While the others were chatting, Ella was the only one silent. Listening to others telling stories, laughing along when she finds things funny. It's like she was never there.
"Black, what was like living with the Tonks?" Amanda turned to Ella. She was trying to proceed with words but nothing came out. "It was great."
"You lived with them because your parents left you? What happened to them?" Valgora said, looking not shameless for asking that.
Jake sent Valgora a glare, telling her to shut up. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to," Cedric said kindly. Ella returned the smile, not answering Valgora's question.
"Are you celebrating Christmas with the Tonks?" Amanda asked again with a soft smile.
Ella smiled back and nodded.
"Talking about Christmas. Oh, I can't wait for Christmas!" Seraphina clapped her hand, doing a tiny bounce.
"It's almost nighttime, better if you go to bed." A Hufflepuff prefect told them. "Okay, let's go." Genevieve dragged Amanda with her.
"That was fun, wasn't it, Ella?" Seraphina clung to her arm with her's. "Maybe." She shrugged.
"Nobody. Will. Disturb. My. Sleep. Tonight." Valgora clapped her hand, sitting on her bed.
"Who would even waste their time disturbing you sleeping? It's better when you're asleep while you're quiet." Genevieve snapped, a giggle escaped from Amanda's lips, making her cover her mouth.
"Whatever, don't disturb me."
_____
"Ella, Ella, wake up!" Seraphina shakes the girl who was in her deep sleep with Genevieve waking her other roommates.
Ella slowly opened her eyes, to see both Genevieve and Seraphina in chaos.
"What's going on?" Amanda stood up from her bed.
Seraphina was biting her nails with Genevieve staring at the floor blankly.
"A student just got killed."

Beta Test
I'm sure I'm in for some colorful criticism, But if even a few people enjoy this, I'd be happy. As of right now the story is set in Delaware around 2005'ish'. A young man from the streets, aquires a beta test invitation in an unorthodox way. The plan is to have a comical adventure in an experimental virtual reality game. I can easily transition it to a full story if its well received. If not I hope atleast one person kinda likes it. P.s. This is a work of fiction, with made up characters. Any likeness is coincidence.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
