Ana's eyes burst open at the feeling warmth hitting the oily creases of her lids. She squeezed a hand around the sheet tossed over her sweating body, the ceiling looking nothing like she'd remember it to look.

She felt the hardness of the mattress beneath her back as she moved slightly. This helped her remember that she was, in fact, not home.

That explains the ceiling difference.

She didn't panic, because when she sat up, she saw the contents of the room and the familiar button up shirt lying at her feet, she remembered.

Oh, shit.

Ana wrapped the sheet securely around her naked body, waddling across the room to her stray clothing items. She hunched over to grab the dress when the bedroom squeaked open and lightly hit the gray colored wall.

"Leaving so soon?" His gruff morning voice brought in the familiar scent of eggs and bacon and was that burnt toast?

Ana froze stiffly in her hunched over state, blushing fiercely. She slowly stood back up and turned around to face him.

Plaid pajama bottoms and a black hoodie enclosed his figure, the figure she'd seen so shadowed in the dim light of his bedroom last night.

Ana met his eyes, biting down on her lip in admiration and nerves. She shrugged awkwardly with her arms tensed up.

"Don't look so tense, Ana. I was just playing with you. You can leave if you want, but I made breakfast and I was hoping we could talk." Jeremy laughed lightly, but his voice trailed off to a sort of questioning tone.

"Oh- um, sure." She set her bunched up dress on the bed and waited for him to leave. "If you don't mind-"

Jeremy grasped for the door, "Yeah, yeah. Sorry. Um- actually? Do you want some comfier clothing? Like a T-shirt and pants or something?"

"You don't have to-"

Jeremy cut her off with a wave of his hand as he turned to his dresser. He opened the top two drawers, pulling out a T-shirt that unfolded itself automatically and sweatpants that would likely be big on Ana's tiny figure.

"Thanks," she shimmied forward in the mermaid dress-like cover up she was attiring.

Jeremy laughed at the sight, stepping closer to her so that she would not have to struggle so much. Ana smiled in return to his laugh, feeling that warmth transfer inside her pores.

He closed the door with a light click, and Ana dropped the sheet. She had to roll the cinched top of the pants a few times in order to see her feet, and the shirt hung down nearly to her knees. He was about half a foot taller than her, for God's sake.

Ana peeked her head out of the door, flicking her eyes down either side of the hallway. Like a lost puppy, she let the scent of breakfast guide her down the left side.

She stepped out into the dual kitchen and dining room where Jeremy was sitting at the island with two plates of food and cups of coffee.

Ana lightly smiled, causing a dimple to pop up onto her cheek. Jeremy grinned in response to the adorable features of her face. He pulled out the other bar stool for her, and she thanked him quietly.

He didn't bother her much throughout breakfast, but simply asked if she had slept okay or if she needed anything.

She said, yes, and, no.

She was extremely shy, he'd finally decided. But that made her even more cute.

While Jeremy was admiring her quirks and weird habits she was putting on display, she was freaking out.

I slept with my friends ex husband. How fucked up is that?

What's even more fucked up is that I would do it again in a heartbeat.

She felt awkward around Jeremy, considering he was extremely attractive and they'd slept together. And the weird habits Jeremy was growing fond of were showing because of this. She hated it.

But, at the same time, she enjoyed the warmth the air brought her. The metaphorical air and the literal air.

Eventually, he took both of their plates to the sink and washed them. Ana trailed behind him to the living room, where they sat down on the loveseat.

"Sorry my apartment is messy and bare. I wasn't expecting any visitors." Jeremy laughed, toying with the strings of his sweatshirt.

"Well, obviously," Ana whispered beneath her breath, tugging a chuckle out of his throat. Ana blushed deeply. "Sorry. You weren't supposed to hear that."

"You don't have to apologize."

"Sorry," Ana rolled her eyes at herself. She didn't like the silence that followed his last laugh to her echoed apology, so she asked: "Why is it so bare?"

Jeremy shifted in his seat, "I only bought all of this furniture yesterday. I haven't really been up to do anything since everything wi-with Ashley."

"I'm so sorry I brought it up," Ana rushed to say, noticing the tensing up of his features.

Jeremy shook his head, setting his hand appreciatively on hers. "It's fine. I'm getting over it. She has, clearly."

Ana cleared her throat, her tongue trailing over her lips as a nervous habit. Jeremy watched the action, his hand still on hers.

She sighed heavily, her heart tugging in every which direction. She slowly withdrew her hand, intertwining her fingers in her lap.

Jeremy coughed, his hands becoming sweaty. "Sorry."

"No, no, it's okay. It's... it's okay." Ana spoke softly, her small and tender voice giving Jeremy a sense of calmness.

Part of her reassuring tone was directed at her self. She barely knew Ashley, so there's no way the woman could be infuriated with her for sleeping with her ex husband. But, then again, girl code was girl code. On the other hand, again, girl code was shit. Unless Ana had slept with Laura's ex husband- which she didn't have- Ana could do as she pleased.

It kept going back to the fact she and Ashley weren't that close.

But also back to the fact that she felt guilty somehow.

She could excuse herself and say she was drunk. That she didn't enjoy herself whatsoever.

But, lying wasn't something she was accustomed to. She would feel even more guilty.

The only thing she could do was not tell.

Anyone.

"Can we keep this between us?" Ana added to her previous statement.

Jeremy nodded.

Ana stood from the small couch and shuffled back to Jeremy's bedroom. She folded her dress, setting her shoes on top of the pile. She closed the door and locked it for good measure.

Ana grudgingly slipped out of the cologne infused clothing, situating it next to her own items. She zipped up the tight dress and put her heels back on her aching feet.

Jeremy heard the click of the door, followed by the lock, and he huffed. Her heels sounded down the hallway and nearly out the door when he brought himself up from the couch.

Despite her heeled shoes, Ana was still shorter than Jeremy. He wanted to laugh at the difference, but bit it back because of the situation at hand.

"Please, don't leave yet." He stood between her and the door, catching her off guard after he swept in from the living room.

"I have to- I have to shower and- I can't just stay here with you." Ana laughed unhumorously, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Will you come back, then?" He hoped, his step faltering back slightly.

Why was he so infatuated with a woman whose heavenly lips were the only things that he truly knew?

Ana's face split with shock before she twisted it into a soft smile. "Okay."

Jeremy stepped aside and Ana set a hand on the doorknob. Ana tilted her head to look at him. She reached a shaking hand up to his chin, gently holding it as she kissed him at the line between the gruff unshaven hair of his jaw and the soft skin of his cheek.

She slid out of the door and back home with her heels retreating from Jeremy's hearing behind the door.
