I hurriedly rush into the hotel elevator where Matthew was staying. I pull my phone out to notify him that I was on my way up. My heart hasn't slowed down since I left the plane. A ball of guilt forms in the pit of my stomach. Matthew told me that we had to share a bed due to them being out of two single bed rooms. I didn't believe him, but I didn't interject. A part of me was hoping we'd share a bed. I wanted to fall asleep in the comfort of his arms and feel the warmth radiate from his body.
I gently knock on the door to his hotel room and it quickly swings open. I'm met with the brown deer like eyes I've adored for a month and a half now. Matthew pulls me into a hug.
"You made it? How was your flight?" He asks. I take in his scent. He always smells like coffee and pine.
"Absolutely miserable. I never want to fly from New York to Los Angeles again." I say into his chest. I feel the vibrations from his laughter.
"I guess we'll just have to stay here forever then." He pulls away to look at me, but keeps his arms around my waist. No one's eyes have ever adored me as much as Matthew's.
"Anyways, I'm absolutely famished, Matthew Gray." I look past him to see that he's already claimed one side of the bed which happens to be the side closest to the door. I wonder if it was just by chance or if he remembered the time I told him how much I resented sleeping close to a door. I've been like that since I was a kid. I walk over and set my bags down by the window.
"You want some room service?" He asks as he plops himself down onto the bed. I nod my head excitedly as he opens up the menu. I crawl into the bed on my knees and peek at the menu behind his shoulder. He turns to look at me with a small smirk before he begins to read off the menu. I skip down a couple lines when my eyes land on grilled cheese. My stomach rumbles and my mouth waters at the thought of a grilled cheese right now. I reach over and point at the small text.

"I'll take that with some fries and sweet tea, please." I say before laying on my back.
I hear Matthew let out a laugh, "Everything on the menu and you want a grilled cheese?"
"Yes, I do." I smile at him and he shakes his head.
"Whatever you say, kid." He says before he goes to grab the hotel phone. I scrunch my nose at the nickname. He picked it up a couple weeks after our first lunch date after I called him an old man. I turn on my side to face him, but his back is towards me as he orders our dinners. I admire the man in front of me. He really is quite mesmerizing.
He finishes ordering and ends it with a quick thank you before hanging up. I watch as he turns around to me.
"You're so beautiful." He says barely above a whisper. I feel my cheeks redden at the compliment. I quickly get up and open up my suitcase.
"I'm gonna take a shower to get all the plane off of me." I turn around to face him with my clothes and toiletries in my hand. Matthew points to the bathroom and I nod to him as a thank you.
I flip the light switch and it illuminates a beautiful porcelain claw foot bath tub. I let out a gasp at its beauty. I've never seen one in person, but I've always wanted a tub just like this one.
I hear Matthew rush in, "Lydia? Is everything okay?"
I let out a laugh, "Um yeah sorry. I-I just got excited because of the bathtub." I turn to face him feeling slightly embarrassed.
I watch the relief wash over him, "Jesus, I thought there was, like, a dead body in there or something."
"Could you imagine? That'd be a real bummer, huh?" I dryly say as I place my belongings on the counter.
He lets out a short laugh and shakes his head, "You really are something else. Now, hurry up, room service should be here in any minute." He flashes me a warm smile before closing the door. I bite my lip as a wide smile crosses my face.

This doesn't feel real. It feels like a dream. I'm here in a beautiful hotel room with an amazing man. I hurriedly undress and start the shower. The warm water soothes my skin and makes me feel rejuvenated. It's amazing how draining airplanes can be.
I'm in the middle of washing out my conditioner when Matthew knocks on the door making me jump.
"No rush, but our food is here!" He calls from behind the door.
"I'll be out in a sec!" I yell back and speed up my rinsing. I step out when I'm finished and dry my body off with the soft white hotel towels. Hotel towels are always my favorite thing about hotels. I toss on an oversized sweater that falls to my knees and a pair of fuzzy socks before I head out of the bathroom.
"Feel better?" He looks up from his phone. I nod my head and notice his food is untouched.
"You could've started." I tell him before I sit down on the bed and pull my tray towards me.
He furrows his eyebrows, "That would've been rude."
I smile at his politeness. I fall for him harder the more we are together. It's a dangerous game, I'll admit, but I can't stop playing it.
I hurriedly take a bite out of my sandwich and I'm in pure bliss. This is exactly what I needed. I look up to see him smiling at me.
"Is it everything you hoped for?" He questions and motions towards my food.
I nod my head, "And then some."
We quickly finish our meals and Matthew sets our trays outside of our room. I feel my eyelids get heavy I look over the the clock to see it's nearing one-thirty in the morning. I nuzzle myself underneath the covers and the warmth consumes me. I don't think I've ever been more comfortable.
"Tired already?" He jokes before climbing into the bed next to me. I let out a yawn and he follows suit.
"Stop it." He says mid yawn which makes me yawn again. I can't help, but laugh.
"Well, it's nice to know you're not a sociopath." I state and he furrows his eyebrows at my statement.
"Sociopaths don't yawn when someone else does because they lack the empathy to react." I inform him. I had learned it from a podcast a couple months prior.
"Did you think I was a sociopath beforehand?" He smirks and I think for a little. I know he's not, but his reaction to me having to think about it amuses me.
He lightly nudges me, "Oh come on!"
"It's a possibility!" I laugh at him.
"I'm so glad I came off that way to you, Lydia. It really boosts my ego." He says sarcastically. I smile at him and he returns it. We're silent and my eyes wander to his lips. I can't help but imagine my lips on his. The soft touch of them or maybe he'd be rougher with me.
"We should probably get some sleep." He mumbles and my eyes meet his again. I'd be lying if the statement didn't bruise my ego a little bit, but I nod my head in agreement. Maybe he really wants this to be a friendly trip, but it just doesn't make sense.
I move to turn off the lamp on my side of the bed and he does the same. I turn so my back is to him and my eyes quickly shut. The exhaustion from the day before seeps into me.
"Goodnight, Lydia." He whispers.
"Goodnight, Matthew."
