《OUTSIDERS || MAKI ZENIN.》Can I get a kiss?

Something bad is in the air and Tamaki can feel it.
For the last few days,
Maki had been occupied in the mind and Tamaki can't crack the code on that one. He's worried if he did something and asked her at one point, but she said it wasn't.
He watches her from his bedroom window while doing homework. She's throwing and spinning around her spear. She's training all by herself with a pissed off expression. At one point, she lets out a furious groan before slamming at to the nearest tree in the backyard.
He peers over and calls to her,
"HEY, MAKI!" He says. "What are you doing?"
She releases her grip of the spear and looks up at him,
"Just blowing off steam." She simply responds before picking up her spree and brushing the hem of her skirt. An eyebrow arch from his features, bewildered by that comment before he looks up at the sky.
"Hey, it's about to rain again. Shouldn't you come inside?" He asked and she can tell she was annoyed at his suggestion.
"Yeah, sure, only for me to do nothing." She storms into the door that led to the kitchen. He only stood there, confused.
'Why is she so upset?!' He thought and it made his head throb a bit. He went back down to his chair and looked down at his algebra homework. He eyed it for a good two minutes before stomping downstairs.
"Okay, Maki, what's your problem?" He asked with a sigh. He stood on the stairway as she looked back at him.
"What's my problem? I've been here for days and days and I'm going crazy!" She exclaims out the blue and this takes him back.
There wasn't any behavior or signals of her hating this place or the company he gave her. He can only conclude that she's actually mad about something else.
"Woah, just take a breath! You say you're going crazy, how so?" He asked and she groaned. She rolled her eyes and began to spin in her little circle.
"I-I just feel like I haven't been making in progress lately!" She snapped with her fists in the air. "I mean, look at me! I've been playing house with you, waiting for you to come home from school so we can have dinner together!"
"A-And I'm just sick of it."
His heart breaks at this. A sorrowful look plays on his visage and he looks down to his feet.
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't know I made you feel that way. If you told me back then, maybe I would've never let you stay here." He says so sadly and that snaps Maki out of her anger.
Her face softens and she tries to compose her thoughts together. She takes a deep breath and rushes to him. She grabs his face gently and looks at him,
"H-Hey, I-um, sorry." She shakes her head. "I-I did not mean it that way. It's just.."
"Ever since I left my family, I haven't really been out doing things to perfect myself as a jujutsu sorcerer. I'm not blaming you Tamaki, I'm blaming me. I've gotten soft and I-I just can't be he-"
"No, you're wrong!" His comforted hands now on her shoulders. "Maki, just because you've been on the low and inactive on sorcerer activities, doesn't make you weak!"
"Course it does!"
"Maki, it seems like all you've been doing is fighting for your life. With your family, with your status and even just entering a world outside of the clan. I-Is it so wrong to lay low and have some downtime for once?"

She stays silent for a bit before remembering the wish she made at the festival days ago.
"Tamaki..do you remember when we made those wishes at the festival?"
He blinks at this,
"Course I do, but w-what does this have to do with how you feel?"
"Everything actually." She notes. "I-I wished to be the head of the Zenin family."
"And for me wanting to be the Zenin head, I need to keep practicing and training to get stronger than ever before. I can't delay and have to act like time is running out. I-I just can't continue going out and having fun while someone like me has to be the new heir!"
"B-But Maki, what's so wrong for wanting to have fun every once in awhile?" He asked. "That doesn't really make you weak."
He gently grabs her hand,
"Look, I'll even help you with your goal if you want but don't do anything rash like leaving abruptly. You know, it's okay to go at your own pace and not rush anything. Maki, I know you want to surpass those relatives of yours, and you will, but it doesn't come so easy you know.."
He tries to smile and encourage her some more,
"You will get there but right now, you're still so young like me and have all the time in the world to go explore and see new things before you tackle that goal head on."
"I don't know if I can do it, Tamaki." She shakes her head and his grip only tightens more around her hand.
"Okay, well at least try." He says to her. "Look.."
He goes down ahead of her, away from the stairway.
"Why don't we just try to relax and think on it some more than doing things without thinking, okay?"
She stays a bit silent.
"Maki.."
She sighs.
"O-Okay..okay. I'll think about what you said."
He smiles, a bit relief. He was glad she wasn't leaving today. God knows the reaction he would have if she did. Definitely heartbroken.
It was raining hard but that's to be expected in the month of November. The two quietly ate their pasta carbonara at the dinner table, but every once in awhile, Tamaki spoke to her as if it was just a normal day.
She was happy at that, to say the least. Happy that even though Tamaki has his conflicts, he always tries his best to push it aside and remain optimistic.
"Yeah this girl today at school got a proposal at the winter formal.." He spoke about the event that took place at his school earlier today.
"But get this? She totally rejected the guy and apparently some other guy is going out with her instead. So poor guy literally got rejected in front of the entire school!"
"Fuck, that's really embarrassing.." She almost laughed before taking a sip of her soda. Tamaki didn't care and laughed about it.
"Sorry, but that shit was kinda funny."
She smiles at him before laughing along with him, nodding. She gave in to how humorous the situation was.
To Tamaki, everything was going well right after. After he finished up his algebra homework, the two played a few video games on his Nintendo console downstairs. They played Mii sports.
"Hey, check this out." He grinned before throwing a hand with his wii console tied around his wrist backwards and the Mii characters in the bowling arena jumped and shrieked.
"What the-" Maki chuckles. "Why did they all jump like that?"

"Ha, cause my Mii character threw the ball backwards. I guess i must've hit someone from behind."
He does it again and again, enough for Maki to crack a grin from it all.
The two went from that, tennis and baseball. They had lots of fun together and everything felt normal.
Almost.
Maki was trying to make the most of it on her last day. She did everything that he wanted to do but it didn't disappoint. From playing games to blasting music all across the house.
She even let herself loose and danced with him to some Justin Timberlake or to some Rasputin by Boney M. He twirled her around before he began to perform his dance moves. He was smooth and knew his way to a dance floor.
"Y-You actually look like you know what you're doing." She smirked as he moves his arms around, swaying his hips to Boney M.
"Well when you're by yourself in this house most of the time, you can learn lots of things on your own time!"
He goes off to the kitchen, pretending he has a line of people behind him and Maki watches him go. Her shoulders slump and felt bad all over again.
'Tamaki, even if I leave, don't change. Don't be so sad when I go..'
keep being you.
--
"Whoo Maki! We gotta do that again some other time." He smiles later on that night. He was exhausted from all that dancing around the room. His dad would never let him do that but he's glad that he did, with Maki nonetheless!
"Y-Yeah, we can.."
"Ah, you must be really tired from pulling out a sweat!" He thought out loud. "Ugh, I think I might be sore for the moves I pulled out."
"Ha, you just might." Maki shoots back before trying to go down the stairs. But he stops her,
"Hey, y-you aren't going to sleep over here?" He asked and she releases her hand.
"I-I was thinking after today, I should sleep on the couch."
"Aww but Maki, I'm not upset what happened earlier."
"W-Well I kinda feel bad about it."
He looks at her with a pout before shrugging,
"Okay, suit yourself...
Goodnight Maki."
"Goodnight, Tamaki. And sweet dreams to you. Always."
He watches her go, confused by the behavior by he lets it go. He'll talk about it some more tomorrow but he was tired for tonight. He goes to bed, shuts his eyes and lets sleep take over.
The rain is pouring so hard that night and Tamaki fiddles in his sleep, tossing his body left to right before finding the right spot to sleep in. He doesn't hear the footsteps coming up to his room and it turns out to be Maki watching over him.
Unlike him, she was fully dressed in her street clothing with the luggage in her bag and spear behind her back.
She was leaving. She's such a fool for saying 'goodbye' to him in his sleep but she could not bear it. She also wrote a note and left it tucked in his composition notebook where he can find it later.
She poured her feelings and emotions unto it. She slid it in the book and came over to Tamaki's sleeping form.
She reaches for a strand of his hair and comes close,
"Thank you, for everything." Maki softly whispers to him before pecking him on the cheek. She sighs but she knows she has to do this.
She looks at him one more time before leaving.
She slams the front door behind her, but that turned out to be the biggest mistake.
He woke up from that noise despite heavy rain. He looks around before calling out to her.
"Maki? Maki!" He puts a hoodie on and some shoes before running downstairs and looks to see an empty living room. Her blankets folded neatly to the side and all her things,
"Maki, where are you?" He panicked and searched everywhere.
"Where could she go?" He asked and after standing right in the center of the living room, he gasped.
He didn't bother to lock the front door and ran over to where she might've gone. The streets were empty and rain was drenching the entirety of the city.
He's all alone, running and running.
"MAKI!"
He calls more and more until he sees a figure surface in front of him. He knows that back anywhere and with all his energy, he catches up to her.
"Maki, please, wait!" He grabs her shoulder and pulls her to him.
"T-Tamaki?! Wait, why are you here?"
"Because Maki, I don't want you to go." He shakes his head. "P-Please just think about.."
"I already thought of it, Tamaki." She confessed and he's stunned in silence. "I-I'm sorry, I don't belong here. I'm a sorcerer and someone who needs to run the Zenin family. Cause if I don't do anything, more people will be corrupted by them!"
"You DO belong here, Maki! He exclaims. "You have every right to be here. Now come on, let's go home."
"Tamaki-"
"Please!" He pleads to her with sad eyes. She can't tell but tears are running down his face. He doesn't want her to go cause he knows if she leaves, he might never see her again.
It would hurt him.
"Tamaki, I'm a sorcerer. You're a non-sorcerer who has so much potential and so many opportunities! Don't feel sorry for me. This is the fate I have to live with."
"I don't care!" He shakes his head. His forehead pressed against hers,
"Maki, I-I want to be with you! I want to see you after school and have dinner with you. I want to know how your day is, what do you want to go do. Is it sightseeing or trying a new pop-up cafe, anything! I still want to see you, don't you see."
"I do too, Tamaki. But...you know we can't. I'm an outsider.."
"STOP!" He begs some more. "I-I'm an outsider too, you know. And I mean, didn't you promise we can be outsiders together?!"
"Yes, but in a sense, you and I are different. You say you're an outsider because you hate school and your dad is absent and not even your "friends" want to hang out with you sometimes. But that's nothing compared to what I have to go through."
"Don't say that. Even if we have different obstacles, one is not better than the other." He grits his teeth.
"But please, Maki...don't go."
It hurts her so much but she tries to stay strong. She lets out a huff,
"I'm sorry, Tamaki. I..must go."
She doesn't want to hear anything else. She turns around and tries to keep moving forward. But then he says something that stopped her.
She turns her heel to look at him in shock. Everything but the rain continues to make its sound. They look at each other in silence and for some reason, she feels herself walking over to him.
He then realized what he said and as awkward he might've made her, he had to say it.
"I'm sorry, but I do."
She goes up to him and he braves himself. She's definitely going to punch him. He closes his eyes and feels his collar yanked down to her.
He's waiting for the punch but instead, he's met with her lips.
His eyes widened but they closed once more as she kissed him some more. He participated and kissed and kissed. She even stuffed a forceful tongue and he retaliates, pushing his in. The two moan in their kiss as Tamaki wraps an arm around her waist.
The two release for breath and look at each other,
"You dimwit.." She mutters huskily against his breath. "I fuckin love you too."
He's happy to hear and he thinks she's going to stay as she stays put in his arms. But no, she doesn't. She releases his arms carefully before going back.
"Maki, no! P-Please come back."
"I'm so sorry, Tamaki.."
"W-Wait please!"
She doesn't turn her to look at him again. She continues to go her own way and he tries to stop her, but then he goes on his knees.
He realizes that he can't.
"Maki...don't go."
He reaches a hand out and she submerges into the darkness.
She's gone and he's all alone again.
"Maki...I love you! I love you with all my heart!" He sobs out loud. He cries frantically on the floor and he's devastated. His heart split into two.
He's alone, all over again.
