《Steam of Britain》Chapter 12: Diesel Railcar

The work load for the fleet was starting to get to them. Without Flying Scotsman, they were getting worked off their wheels. They had to do their jobs and Scotsman's. As for Flying Scotsman, he was touring America right now over seas. So, the station master decided to get a new engine to help out until Scotsman came back. The next day, she came.
She was a strange looking diesel, and she had many doors on her sides. "Hello," said Allison, "What's your name?" "I'm Rose," said the diesel, "And I must say, it is an honor to meet you all. I heard that you have been preserved to show what made the railways what they are today." The engines were impressed. Soon, they showed her the roundhouse, and she said, "Oh my, it is cozy in here." "What nice manners," said Silver Link. "Say, wasn't there another Steam Engine by the name of Flying Scotsman?" "Yes," said Duchess, "But he's currently touring America." "Lucky engine," said Rose.
The next morning, when the engines started to get up, Rose headed out first, and she headed straight to the platform. "Hello everyone!" said Rose, "I'm the new diesel railcar that will take you today!" Just then, Rattler came with the Pullman coaches. "Do they expect me to pull THESE old things!?!" "You're taking the Flying Scotsman from here to Peterborough," said the shed master. "I think not!" said Rose, "Pulling and going at high speeds is bad for my swerves and springs!! Fitter's orders. He said, 'Rose, you mustn't pull any coaches or go at high speeds. It's bad for your swerves and springs.' He's a nice man, and takes care of me." "Look, we brought you here because we're in need of another express engine," said the station master, "We need an engine for the Flying Scotsman." "Well I'm not taking it!!" Soon, the station master and Rose were arguing when the passengers came. Trooper then got an idea. "Sir," he said, "If Rose refuses to pull the Flying Scotsman, then maybe Arron could take it, and Rose can take his goods trains!" Rose soon complied to the request of pulling the Flying Scotsman. Soon, the guard blew the whistle, and Rose ran down the mainline.

Silver Link was going down the mainline, and he saw Rose. "Rose," said Silver Link, "Is something wrong?" "YES!!" said Rose, "I'm not supposed to pull coaches or trucks!!! Or go at such speeds!" Silver Link checked his speedometer, and said, "I'm keeping pace with you, and you're only going 70 mph. Surely you can go faster than that!" Rose just said, "NO!! High speeds are dangerous for my swerves!! I'll just go into a sighting, and leave these coaches!!!" "What about the passengers?" asked Silver Link, "Do they deserve to be stranded in the middle of nowhere? I'm pretty sure that you can't take ALL of them just inside of your carriage seats. Think about it first, and then make your decision."
When Rose rolled into Peterborough, she was 6 minutes late. The passengers didn't mind, they knew she was new. So after that, Rose tried different speeds. And each one helped her get early and on time, and the passengers were amazed. Soon, Rose was flying down the line, and she even raced some of the engines that passed her at times.

Silent Poetry
(#1 in metaphor)At late nights, I could see those choked words rushing out of my throat-shouting their presence in the ink of the broken pen. They are awake to be in my heart and on this paper. In the soft yellow light of the lamp, I'm weaving them again, breaking the captivity of time. Oh, I'm still writing.
