(Lightning's POV)
"Sally, could you be anymore ridiculous?"
I asked my girlfriend as we drove, side by side. We had just finished a nice, romantic dinner and we were heading down the long road towards town. It was 2 years after the war, and we were discussing the new racing season ahead.
"I'm just worried about you. I don't want to see you passed out for two months again."
"Hey, we said we weren't gonna bring that up."
"I know, I'm sorry."
We kept on driving until I remembered something.
"Hey Sal? Could I ask you a question about the war?"
"I thought we weren't supposed to talk about it."
"Yeah, yeah I know. I was just wondering, do you know what happened to Scarlet?"
Sally looked, wide eyed, towards me. "The girl they said you were talking to?"
I nodded. She looked sadly at the ground and sighed.
"She was killed. By that guy that shot you. I'm sorry Light."
I looked at the ground. I couldn't believe I was the reason Scarlet was dead.
I sighed and looked back at Sally. She looked at me and smiled a sincere smile. I smiled back and inched forward. We shared a passionate kiss, until I broke us apart, gasping for air.
"I guess we just gotta keep living on, right?"
She smiled at me and nodded. I smiled back and we continued driving. Nothing could ruin this moment, and I was sure I was thinking right this time.

8 236REAL
An ancient hunchback named Finnel is the principal of a school where students’ special abilities might be called magical, supernatural powers. Or, maybe those students’ heightened attributes are more like honed talents any ordinary person could discover and dedicate to developing. Either way, at Finnel's school, even the most otherworldly of traits always finds its source in something REAL . . . in actual human capacities, like intuition, empathy, awareness, strength... REAL is a series of ongoing tales, each centered around an individual student at Finnel's school. Framing slice-of-life authenticity with cool powers and uplifting humor, REAL maintains a light, fun tone while never shying away from digging down deep into weighty themes like identity, connection, and meaning.
