《DELIRIUM》20

The repeating of my apology made Brandon's eyes even wider. He adjusted his position to sit straight up against the wall by the window. I watched him bite his bottom lip to hide the smile that appeared on his face.

When he managed to keep the seriousness on his face, he opened his mouth again.

"So you do believe me?"

He was looking at me with a curious look on his face and he refused to let his eyes go off mine.

This situation was making me weaker than before. Brandon was calm and settled, but I knew he wanted answers, and so did I.

I took a deep breath before I turned my head at the guard who was standing right beside the door.

I never would believe that I would make a decision like this, but Brandon was not a danger to me at this very moment and this was important for both of us. I raised up from the edge of the bed and took a few small steps towards the guard.

The man looked at me. Small stiff eyes filled with queries.

"Leave us,"

The words that left my mouth were so quiet and insecure. Even if it was my own decision and my own words, I almost couldn't believe what I had just said.

The guard raised his eyebrows, and his eyes got more comprehensive than before.

"Are you sure, nurse Frazier?"

I wasn't sure, but I knew a moment with Brandon alone could be a lot more valuable for the both of us, as long as he didn't hurt me.

I nodded my head at the big, uniformed man and smiled carefully.

"Yes, I am sure,"

Even if the guards had a job to watch over the patients and protect the nurses, they still had the duty to listen to us when we decided to demand something from them.

In this case, the guard was, in fact, doing his job right but I was putting my safety at risk. If Dorothy got to know about this, she would probably get mad herself.

"I'll be right outside then,"

The guard left the room and closed the door with him.

The atmosphere in the room turned into something much more intense and just like so many other times, my heart began to race faster than it ever should.

I turned around to face Brandon again.

He was still sitting at the same spot but turned his face in my direction.

The expression on his face looked confused, but he kept quiet.

I carefully began to take a small step toward Brandon again and decided to stop with a distance between us.

"I am sorry that I provoked you, Brandon,"

For the third time, the word sorry came out of my mouth. I didn't know what more to say. I knew that Brandon asked if I believed him, but the truth was that I really didn't, and I wasn't brave enough to tell him that.

The brown-eyed, dark-blonde, beautiful man in front of me turned his face into something that looked a little bit more apprehensive than before.

"But?"

The only thing I wished for was that he would not ask any further questions and just accept my apology, but deep inside of me, I knew that was never going to happen.

I swallowed hard and began to think about what I should answer him. The last thing I wanted in our lonely moment was to make him angry again.

"But if I'm going to believe you, you will have to prove to me that I can,"

Brandon moved from his place, and his legs made the pills fall from the sill down to the floor. He didn't care, he didn't even look at them when they made a sound on the concrete floor.

I took a step back in reaction, and I looked at him to watch each of his movements.

He was now standing up in front of me. His gaze was tenser than earlier, but still, he didn't make me feel very frightened.

"You want me to prove that I'm not a liar?"

His raspy, dark voice was making me shiver, and I got a little bit withdrawn. He sucked the energy out of me.

"Yes, that is what I want,"

My voice was low and determined. Maybe it wasn't such a smart idea to make a statement against him like that but I had to stay confident...

Suddenly, Brandon rushed against me, and in a fast move, he grabbed my wrists and pushed me back against the wall. The blood rushed through my body, and I tried my best to catch my heavy breathing.

This was the perfect moment to be terrified. What the hell was he doing?

Now he had all the power over me.

The only thing I should have done at this moment was to scream out loud the get the guards in here to save me and probably beat Brandon down to his weakest, but I had made him a promise to treat him like a human being, and a human being is just as able to outrage as a monster.

The darkness in his eyes made me feel submissive and petite, and I could feel his heavy breath against my skin which made me shiver and shake.

I was paralyzed.

He let go of my wrists when he noticed my shaking, but he kept his hands on the wall on each side of me to keep me in position. Even if I wanted to look away from those terrifying eyes, they were too piercingly beautiful to let me succeed.

"Okay, Beverly. Let me prove it to you then... Ask me fucking anything, and you'll learn that I never lie,"

The sound of Brandon's voice was telling me that he was annoyed and aggressive, which made me even more uncomfortable. I knew that he liked to play, but this was just a move that got too far.

"If you don't let me go within ten seconds, Brandon, I will scream,"
