You groan as you roll over on your bed. You head was pounding from the massive hangover you had. You slowly opened your eyes, the sun making your head hurt even more.
"Here's some water and food, your definitely gonna need it."
You roll over to see Arthur squatting next to you holding a cup and some food.
"Ugh, why didn't you stop me from drinking that much?" You asked I'm taking the food and water.
"You looked like you were having fun, I didn't want to ruin it." He laughed.
"I probably wouldn't of listened anyways." You smiled.
"Exactly. Javier isn't feeling well either, you two really went heavy on the alcohol." Arthur said looking over to see Javier throwing up behind a tree.
You laughed. "Well at least I'm handling it better than him."
Arthur laughed with you. "I'm heading out for a while, me and John have a train robbery planned. I was going to invite you but you don't look up to it."
"Yeah, I probably won't be doing much today." You sighed. "Thanks for the offer though, I'll take it up next time. Now let me sleep." You said.
Arthur smiled. "Yes ma'am." He got up and heading out of camp. You weren't actually going back to sleep, you just needed it to be quiet. You felt like death. Alcohol wasn't your best friend, but it did allow you to have hell of a good time for a little while. The quiet didn't last long though, as Abigail came over to talk to you.
"Y/n, can I ask you for a favor?" She asked.
You rubbed your eyes and sat up. You weren't sure is she was talking loudly or the massive migraine just made it sound like she was shouting, but every word that left her mouth made your heard pound. "Yeah, what's up?" You asked.
"Can you do something with Jack? His father is being.. well himself, and Jack needs to go do something. I know you had a bit of a crazy night, but Jack has taking a liking to you." She said.
"Yeah of course, I could do with some time out of camp anyways. Let me wake up a bit more and I'll take him." You responded.
"Thank you y/n" Abigail said before walking off.
You stood up and walk through camp. You spotted Javier sitting at the table, with his head down. You sat next to him.
"You look horrible." You said.
"You look good for someone who drank double her body weight in alcohol." He responded.

"Maybe I should drink all the time, so I don't look so 'sulky'" you said mocking him.
"You said it not me." He chuckled.
"Hey, I'm taking Jack out of camp later, do you want to come along?" You asked him.
"Yeah I'll go, what were you planning?" He asked.
"Fishing maybe? I haven't brought much food to Pearson and I'm much better at fishing than hunting." You responded.
"Sounds perfect, I'll go get ready and meet you by the horses." He said standing up. You looked around camp to see Jack sitting by a tree. You starting walking over to him. As you passed Dutch's tent, you could feel his eyes watching you. You knew you had to talk to him about last night, but you didn't want to even think about it right now. As you got to Jack, you squatted down next to him.
"Hey Jack." You smiled.
"Hi y/n!" He responded.
"You want to go do something with me and Javier?" You asked.
"Yeah!" He said standing up.
"We are going to go fishing, do you have a rod?" You asked him.
"Uncle Hosea made me one. I'll go get it." He responded.
"Okay, meet me at my horse." You said as he ran off.
You smiled and started walking to Anastasia. You brushed her as you waited for the boys to come over. Jack came running over with his rod. "I'm ready." He said hanging you the rod. You put it on your horse and mounted up. You reached down and picked up Jack and sat him in front of you. "Okay now we have to wait for Javier."
Javier made his way over. "Sorry, Bill was chewing my ear off about something." He mounted up quickly. "After you." He said.
You left camp and started heading to the river close by.
"Y/n, are you staying with us forever?" Jack asked.
"Yep. You guys are my family now." You smiled down at him.
"Don't tell anyone but, your my favorite." Jack whispered. You giggled. "Your my favorite too." You whispered back.
Javier smiled as he watched the interaction between the two of you.
You arrived at the river and helped Jack off the horse. You walked to the water and pulled out your rod.
"First, you have to put some bait on the hook, here's a worm." You said handing the worm to Jack.
"Now pull the rod back over your shoulder, and let go." You said. He did it with ease. "Now we wait."
Javier was cast out next to you, focusing on his line. You felt your line get pulled and you hooked a fish. "You got one y/n!" Jack cheered. You reeled in the fish and showed to to Jack, then put it away to give to Pearson.

"I'm bored, I'm going to go collect flowers." Jack said putting his rod down. You chuckled "okay Jack."
He wondered around, leaving you and Javier fishing.
"Your really good with him." Javier said.
"Yeah, I had a little boy live next to me when i was with my family. He looked up to me as a bigger sister. I really liked him." You explained.
"Back in Mexico, all the little boys would look up to me like an older brother, their parents said I was a good influence for them. Look where that got me." He laughed.
"I ended up in the same spot so, we aren't much different." You laughed.
"Look at this necklace I made for momma!" Jack yelled to you and Javier. You both put your rods away and walked over to him. Javier squatted down next to him. "That looks lovely, your mother will love it."
"That's a fine young man, and in such complex circumstances ."
You and Javier turned to see where the voice came from.
"Javier isn't it? Javier Escuella?" The man said.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"Javier Escuella, one of Dutchs boys." He said ignoring Javier question.
"Agent Milton, Agent Ross." He said pointing to himself and the other man. "Pinkerton Detective Agency. Your a wanted man Mr Escuella, but we want Van Der Linde."
"I haven't seen Dutch for months." Javier responded.
"Funny, I heard about a guy fitting his description that robbed a train belonging to Leviticus Cornwall." Milton responded.
Javier just stared at the two. Jack held onto your leg as you pushed him behind you. Milton looked at you and studied your face.
"Look Mr. Milton, I'm just here trying to have a nice time with my wife and son. I'm sorry but I haven't talked to Dutch in a long time, I can't help you." Javier said, taking your hand.
"Interesting. Well while I'm here, Mrs. Escuella, I'm happy to tell you we got rid of the men who killed your family." Milton said.
Your mouth dropped open. "What?"
"We were working on your case, You looked familiar and now I remember your face from family photos. It's funny, your poor parents died at the hands of outlaws, and now you one of them. I don't think they would be proud, do you?" Milton smirked.
Javier stepped forward. "I think it's time for you to leave."
He laughed. "Good evening Mr. Escuella, enjoy your family outing." He said walking away.
Javier turned to look at you. You hung on to Miltons words.
"I don't think they would be proud, do you?"
"Let's head back." Javier said. "Jack, you want to ride with me this time?"
"Yeah!" He said running to Javiers horse. Javier put a hand on your shoulder. You shot him a fake smile. You both walked to your horses without saying anything.
"Who were those people?" Jack asked.
"Bad men, but we won't be seeing them again." Javier responded.
"Why did you say you haven't seen Uncle Dutch?" He asked.
"They want to hurt him, I'm protecting him." Javier responded.
The rest of the ride was quiet. Javier wanted to speak with you, but not with Jack around. Your eyes stayed on the trail the rest of the way back. You arrived at camp and Javier helped Jack down. He ran to Abigail to show her the necklace he made.
You got off of Anastasia and started walking into camp trying to get back to your bed, but Javier stopped you. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked.
You shook your head no, but tears started falling down your face. He pulled you into a hug. You silently sobbed into his chest as he held you close. "Your not a bad person. You are the best person I've ever met, your parents would be so proud." He whispered.
You stepped back. "Im going to go tell Dutch what happened." You smiled at him. "Thank you."
You walked over to Dutch, who's back was turned to you. "Dutch I need to talk to you." You said stepping into his tent.
"I don't want to hear about your trip with Javier." You raised your eyebrow as you sensed jealous. "No something happened Dutch."
He turned to face you. His cold eyes quickly fell soft as he saw the tears on your face. "What happened?" He said quietly.
"The Pinkerton found us." You told him. He exhaled.
"Okay, I'll deal with that later. That doesn't explain why you were crying, let's go somewhere to talk about it" He said.
"Why can't we talk about it here?" You asked him.
"Please y/n, let's go for a ride." He said.
You sighed, giving in. You were too tired to argue, but you were going to get to the bottom of what was going on.

8 348War of Seasons
Dorothea Atlin is the young, apathetic leader of the neutral territory of Sirpo, a chilly land hovering above the continuously warring factions of Sacer and Ghuria, whose devastating magics have ravaged their people and lands time and time again. Following a shocking attack and a cruel deception, Dorothea grows her conscience and takes up arms, using her self-destructive ability to manipulate the flow of time to ensure Sacer’s victory. Her growing understanding of war and the two factions is guided by Iree Nobelis, the determined and enthralling commander of Sacer’s forces, Ariana Kingfisher, a steely swordswoman of mixed Ghurian and Sacerian descent, and Rhys Tamlin, a kind but haunted soldier who goes to challenge Dorothea’s self-imposed celibacy and join her on a mutual journey of healing from the tragic legacies of the Atlin family and wars between the nations. Meanwhile, Dorothea’s only friend and deserter from the Sacerian military, Shark Olyen, returns to their homeland to face the family that disowned them and finds more than they bargained for in meeting Cerid Creed, a noble whose duty to his people clashes with his desires in romance and in life, much like Shark’s did long before. As their developing or preexisting loves and differing convictions on how to achieve peace create rifts between these major players, Dorothea experiences a personal revolution that leads her to fight for what she believes is right, no matter the cost. A slow-burn story that takes time setting up the psychology and motivations of characters for explosive payoff later down the line. Cover by Ben Arisson, who is also a wonderful author on this website!
8 197[HIATUS] Rainbow of the Horizon—Illuminating Our Darkened Path | Our World
"The world is unfair and unjust… that's the second time I've said that, haven't I?" Gin Sakato and Ringo Akanami's somewhat eventful life continued together with his ever so increasing number of companions in the unpredictable world they live in and discover its urban obscurity, as they blur the line of the 'unbelievables', 'believables', and the obliterated fourth wall. New people and new happenings came to their life as they move forward in the hardships and mishaps that are bound to test their individual strengths to survive in this (normal) world. But the sun's hope comes shining down after the rain of despair and sometimes, rainbows of bliss spreads in the horizon. Remembering the past, living in the present, and molding the future is what they have learned and instilled to their minds as their individual roles. And therefore, the journey of life continues awaiting the uncertain tomorrow. This is a sequel to Normal in Parenthesis. *Alternative name/abbreviation: NijiHo*

Kelly really didn't want to go first. It didn't seem fair, Anne had four extra years to come to terms with herself surely she could be the one to test the waters? Well, perhaps she just needs a nudge? Or perhaps an accidental mention in a document no one is meant to read? Something her mum might happen to find? A companion book to Instrumental, can be read as its own story but I think really works best after reading the first book.
