"I know." I said smiling sadly. "They've been chasing me for years."

The Major gave me an odd look and I couldn't meet his eyes. I felt so ashamed I had brought him into this. Granted, I thought I had lost them for good, but still. He shouldn't have to be involved in this. It's my fault and mine alone.

"I should go." I whispered while walking past the Major.

"You will do no such thing darlin'." He replied as he clasped my wrist.

"This isn't your responsibility. It's my fault and mine alone. I should suffer the consequences, not you." I said quietly, trying to untangle my small wrist from his fingers.

"If ma past came back ta bite me in the ass, what would ya do darlin'?" He asked sternly.

"I would help you take care of the problem. Why?" I half spat, not fully taking in the reasoning behind his question. My mind was to busy remembering to process it.

"Do ya really think I would ever let ya go, 'specially with yer past chasin' after ya? Now, we are gonna go inside and you are gonna tell me what ya think is yer fault. Why are they after ya?"
