《Septicego Oneshots》Robbie and Chase: The Stairs

Robbie sat alone in his little room. He hasn't seen the Weird or Blue Man in a while, where did they go? Dust flits down from his ceiling as something thumps above him, and people's words are muffled... Robbie scoots toward the edge of his mattress and stares at the ground. Slowly, he places his bare feet on the ground. A shiver quickly shoots up from his feet to his head as he jolts back in surprise, yanking his feet back up so hard he falls over. He rolls back up and reaches for the floor.

Why is it cold? How can he make the ground not cold? He sits and thinks. Blankets make Robbie warm, so maybe it will make the floor warm too!

He yanks up his sheets and blankets, before giving them a hefty shove onto the ground. Perfect.

Tentatively, Robbie again taps his feet to the ground before wobbling to a stand. He's done it! He's done it! Just like the other-

Whump!

His knees buckle as all sense of balance shoots out from him, knocking him front first into the ground. He sucks his teeth, hissing in pain. Darn things, just work already! A few blobby tears manage to slip past his eyes before he rubs his face intently. He refuses to be a cry baby.

Robbie's seen the Blue and Weird Man do it, why can't he use his legs??? He sits up and thumps his legs good and hard. It's what they get! He folds his arms and holds his head in triumph before the pain finally sets in. A dull ache spreading across where he'd hit them. Needless to say, mistakes were made, and he was willing to let himself be a bit of a cry baby.

With the pain ebbing away in time, he decides to to stay on all fours while he explores the room, getting used to some kind of new mobility.

There isn't much here to do, it's been kind of boring lately. Those guys aren't coming down, it being quiet all the time. He does, however, have a pair of friends. Robbie scoots himself to a small corner where there's some stuffed animals.

"Howrrre you?" He makes one very old bear talk. It's very worn and loved from countless cuddles.

"Awake." The other toy, a pink kitten, says back "sleepy, weird-no!" He smiles, continuing the cats reply. Robbie pauses when he hears foot steps upstairs. "Hmm..." Is the Weird Man coming to say hi again? Or will it be the Blue Man? He takes a moment to scoot towards the stairs. Where do they go?

Robbie tentatively places a hand on the wooden steps, then another.

"Where have you been?!" He hears someone's muffled shouts and jumps back. Is he in trouble??? He doesn't think so....

"You vouldn't understand its-"

"Not if you two don't tell me!" They seem to go on and on. What are they talking about? What's going on? He carefully puts his hands on the stairs again, higher this time to leave room for his feet. Hand, hand, foot, foot. Hand, hand, foot, foot. Not that hard..

"Don't you dare!"

"Watch me, Magic Man!"

Reaching the top of the stairs, Robbie quickly ducks his head to avoid being blinded. He covers his eyes a moment before they adjust. By the time he looks back up he can see a new stranger in the door way.

"How in the world...it's not-" the man stops himself, seeming to collect his thoughts. "Hi there uh... what's your name little guy?" Who is this one? And why does he sound so different from earlier? Robbie stares at him, almost blankly.

"His name's Robbie." Upon hearing his name, Robbie quickly turns his attention to the Weird Man. Before slowly looking back to the stranger in front of him.

He clears his throat and tries again "Hello Robbie, I'm Chase." He holds his hand out to Robbie, who stares at it confused. Gently, he reaches out and barely touches Chase's palm. In an instant it's gripped "Gah!" Robbie shouts, trying to pull his hand back, only to find Chase giving it a quick shake before letting go. He stares confused at his hand before reaching out and taking Chase's hand again, giving it a good shake. Up, down, left, right everywhere!

The poor guy can barely sputter "Easy now, dude!" He manages to pull his arm free. "Let's get you back downstairs."

Robbie quickly moves over when he sees Chase is about to walk down. How do they do that leg thing?!

"You comin?" Half way down the ma-Chase seems to realize that Robbie's still up there.

Robbie stares again, what do these sounds they make mean? It's not until Chase motions for Robbie to come down that he understands what's going on. Frantically, he looks left, then right. Up, down, and carefully behind him. There's no where to go! He's stuck!"

"ᵃᵃᵃaaaAAA" Before he can realize what's happening, Chase thumps back up reeling for balance from his speed, before stopping just short of a confused, scared, twisting Robbie.

"Ssh, it's okay, it's okay." He tries to get the pour guy to calm down "Robbie, Robbie, watch me." Robbie slowly pauses his panic to watch Chase turn and sit down, then thump from one stair to the next, reaching the bottom. Eventually, Robbie follows after him, mimicking the best he can.

"See? It's okay." Chase reassures him again at the bottom of the stairs.

"It...s oquay." Robbie repeats back.

"Exactly. Now, let me go get you some lunch, okay?"

Aw yes! If there's a word Robbie knows, it's lunch.
