"Eunji." I called out for the girl in front of me, as my eyes lit up. I've been walking around looking for her all over the school and now I've finally found her.

But she wasn't reacting to any of my calls.

"Eunji..?" I repeated, hesitance hidden in my voice.

She continued to walk mindlessly ahead, not even trying to acknowledge my presence.

That's when it hit me. That's exactly what I asked her to.

I told her not to approach me and I acted like the biggest douchebag back then.

And I still was acting like one.

Seriously Jungwon, what do you think you were doing?

If I were Eunji I'd do the same.

A wave of guilt hit me right in the face, as I looked down.

It wasn't the first time that I told someone to get off my back, but for some reason I was feeling especially conflicted now that it was Eunji.

Was it because she never had any bad intentions when approaching me? I could sense that she genuinely wanted to get to know me.

And maybe a tiny part of me wanted to get to know her too.

But it didn't matter anyway.

"Eunji?" I called for the last time, sighing.

I was following her for the past 2 hallways now.

Was she really that set on ignoring me?

"Are you even listening?" There was a hint of impatience in my voice, as I grabbed her wrist, turning her around to me.

She immediately shuddered, probably because of the sudden temperature change, before looking up to me.

It was then when her surprised eyes turned into a glare,

"Let go of me."

"I'm sorry." I turned away, biting my lower lip, as I immediately released her, "I was looking for you, but you weren't reacting to any of my calls."

Wide-eyed, she cleared her throat, "I-I was kinda deep in thought, my bad." After seemingly starting to calm down, she crossed her arms, "What is it?"

"The teacher asked me to inform you about the pile of papers in our classroom. You are supposed to bring them to the principal."

And that's when she let out a groan, massaging her temples in annoyance, "Right...Yeah, thanks. I will be on my way."

"I will accompany you." I spoke without thinking, as my eyes widened. What the fuck are you doing, Jungwon?

"What?" Eunji turned around to me again. Her eyes narrowed once again, "No. Definitely not."

"I insist."

Alright, now you've totally lost it, Jungwon.

"Yeah, I insist you don't." She immediately shot back.

"But it's a lot. A lot of piles." I glanced into her eyes, "Let me help you."

After a short while of thinking, she gave up, "Do whatever your heart desires."

Eunji started walking ahead, as I followed her, when suddenly she abruptly stopped, making me stop as well.

"Before you misunderstand stuff again, let's make things clear." The girl tilted her head, "You were the one who wanted to come with me and I'm just agreeing, because I do not feel like carrying those piles to the principal's office alone, not because I'm interested in getting close to you, understand?"

The same wave of guilt washed over me as like before, while I failed to find the right words to reply, "Eunji, I—"

"Here we are." She quickly cut me off, opening the door to our classroom.

Just when the boy was about to pick up the bigger pile of papers, Eunji pushed him aside and took it in her own arms, before walking out the door.

It was quiet during the whole walk to the principal's office.

Eunji walked ahead while Jungwon followed her closely.

And after some small talk and thanking at the principal's office, they were both finally released, "I can't wait to go home." Eunji stretched her arms and smiled in relief, almost forgetting to keep her nonchalant exterior.

Clearing her throat once again— a terrible habit of hers, she turned to the boy next to her, "Uh, thanks...for helping and reminding me. I'm sure you had better things to do."

"It's fine." Jungwon nodded and Eunji noticed how gentle his gaze was, "I didn't."

"I-I see, I guess we are done here then. Goodbye." She quickly excused herself and was about to leave, when once again he took ahold of her hand, making her flinch for the second time that day.

"Eunji." He spoke careful, his dark eyes piercing through her surprised ones. It's been bothering him the whole day already. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry that day."

The girl's face immediately dropped, "What...?"

"At the rooftop. I didn't mean it when I said that you—"

"Don't ever mention that ever again." Her voice was cold, the same way his voice usually was, "You said yourself that we should pretend like it never happened."

"Yeah, but—"

"Why are you acting all chummy with me? It's not like you." Pulling away from his grip, she turned away to leave, feeling her face burn up with warmth, "Jungwon, it's fine. I swear, I just had a bad day that time."

Jungwon looked like he was dying to say something, but decided against it.

"If that's all, I will be leaving. See you tomorrow." Eunji nodded and turned away, not waiting for his answer.

Why did he have to be so damn confusing?

the girl thought, shaking her head, before sighing deeply.
