How many of you guys even read my authors notes?? Pfft, probably like one person, you know who you are.
I run out to Oliver's car. "Come on, lets go!" I shout, excited. When I look back at Oliver, he's still putting on his sneakers. I groan and make my way over to him. I grab his arm and drag him outside the house and to the car, making sure to close the front door as well.
"Calm down, you're acting like a five year old on Christmas." Oliver says. Like you. I let go of his arm and look up at him. "It might as well be Christmas! You're actually letting me tell Kayla!" I exclaim, smiling wide. "Yeah, yeah, whatever." He mumbles, unlocking the car doors.
"You've been acting so nice lately.." I point out. "Yeah, so?" He says, looking down at me. "It's weird.." he glares at me, "but it's a good weird!" I add, chuckling nervously. Oliver chuckles and gently shoves me to the passengers side of the car as he gets in the divers side.
*************
"KAYLAAAAA!!" I shout, sprinting over to Kayla and the guys who were down the hall. Kayla looks over at me and smiles. "Hey Iris," she greets as if me shouting her name was normal.
I grab her arm and drag her away from the guys and into a janitors closet nearby, slamming the door shut behind us. Looking around, I realize it's the same one Oliver and I went in. I shudder, remembering how close we were.
"Um...are you alright?" Kayla asks, sounding concerned and confused. "What do you mean? I'm fine. I just have something important to tell you!" I exclaim, jumping up and down in excitement. Kayla gasps, "Is this about that boy? You know, 'The Hottest Person In The World' guy?" She asks, smiling. "No, it's-wait...I mean, sort of?" I reply, shrugging a bit. She squeals. "Okay girl, spill it! Who is he?" She questions, grinning.
"Hang on, let me start from the beginning." I tell her to which she nods. I sigh softly. "When my dad..y'know..." she nods in understanding, "I couldn't live by myself, right? And you know how my relatives live far away. So, according to the police officer, the state decided it was best if I was sent to live with a family that was close with my father. He's mentioned the mother of the family before, I met her a few times as a kid too, her name is Sasha. He just never got into detail about her and her family. So when I found out, I was surprised and nervous at the same time." I pause to see her reaction, she looks impatient but has a small smile on her face.

She motions for me to keep going and I smile a bit. "The last name of the family is....Sullivan." I say, pausing a bit to create suspense. Kayla realizes who I'm talking about in an instant. "You live with Oliver?!" She exclaims, eyes widened. I nod, "But you can't tell anyone, he only gave me permission to tell you. If anyone else knew, he'd have my head." I tell her, chuckling. She giggles then salutes me, "You got it, Iris! You can count on me." Kayla says as if she were a soldier.
I laugh a bit as I begin to open the closet door- BONK! "Owww!" Three male voices wince. Kayla and my eyes widen and we step out of the closet. Their eyes widen when they see us.
"Um..this isn't the bathroom. Pfft, come on guys, it must be the other way." Lucas lies, beginning to walk away with Ross and Adam. Kayla and I grab the collars or hoods of their shirts or hoodies and pull them back towards us. "Well shit..." Ross mumbles. They turn around to face us slowly, nervous grins plastered on their faces.
"Heyy babe, heyy Iris..." Adam greets, trying to play it cool. "You eavesdropped, didn't you?" I ask them. "What??" Adam replies, nervously. "Pfft, what are you talking about?" Lucas adds, his voice cracking. "Noooo...." Ross adds, shaking his head a bit.
It's silent as Kayla and I glare at them accusingly. "Okay, okay, yes we were eavesdropping!" They admit simultaneously. That's it, I'm dead. Kayla tries calming me down, realizing how terrified I looked. Then I look over at the guys. "You can't let anybody else know about this, and you definitely can not let Oliver know that you know." I tell them.
"Let me know what?" I shriek hearing him behind me and then turn around to face him quickly. "Nothing!" We all yell. Oliver stares at all of us and then looks over at me. I smile nervously. "Alright, who told who what?" Oliver asks us. Wow he catches on quickly..
We all stay silent. "Who. Said. What?" Oliver repeats slowly in a more threatening manner, "Don't make me ask again." He adds. I hear the boys sigh softly. "It was our fault, we weren't supposed to know." Ross admits. Oliver raises an eyebrow. "Iris and Kayla ran off so we followed them," Lucas explains. I glare at them slightly. "We know your secret." Adam adds.

I bite my lip as I look up to meet with Oliver's eyes. He looks down at me, I was expecting anger or disappointment to show but he seemed calm. He sighs softly.
"Look, I'm not mad-" my eyes widen, "-but I rather not let anyone else know." Oliver says, looking at the rest of them. I smile wide and hug Oliver tightly, "Thank you! Thank you-" Oliver interrupts me, lightly pushing me away, "-Not in school." He says and I quickly let go.
"Harsh." Ross shakes his head at Oliver. I giggle a bit, "I'm just glad he isn't mad." I admit, smiling. "Yeah, she said you'd have her head if anyone else found out." Kayla snickers.
Oliver shrugs a bit, "That's still an option." He looks down at me again, his eyes narrowed slightly. I feel my bottom lip quiver as I step back from him. "Well alright then..." I mutter unsure of how to reply. Oliver chuckles and walks away with a grin plastered on his face.
I look back at the others who looked as spooked as I do. "Uh..it was nice knowing you all," I say and walk away to the lunch room, cautiously looking out for Oliver.
*************
I walk towards Oliver's car slowly, looking around for him. Don't think I'd just forget his threat that easily. I mean, this is Oliver we're talking about, he was probably serious.
"Boo."
I shriek, jumping away from the person behind me. That's when I hear Oliver laughing hysterically. I glare at him. "I hate you." I say through gritted teeth.
"Sure, whatever kiddo," He replies, still laughing a bit. "You should've seen yourself, you were so scared." He continues laughing hysterically, gasping for air a few times.
"Ugh," I groan, "Lets just go, I've got homework to do." I walk towards the car as he unlocks the doors, still laughing. It takes Oliver a while to stop laughing and get in the car. "Have you calmed down yet?" I ask him, still glaring. "Yeah, just a bit." He replies, chuckling.
"I was just kidding about having your head by the way," He tells me. "Didn't seem like it..." I mutter. "I just like scaring you." He admits, chuckling softly.
I put on my seatbelt and Oliver starts the engine. As he's about to put his foot on the gas, I notice he's not wearing his seatbelt. "WAIT!" I shout. Oliver looks over at me surprised, frightened, and confused, in that order. "WHAT?" He shouts back, eyebrows raised a bit.
"You're not wearing your seatbelt." I say in a calmer voice. "I'll be fi-" I cut him off, "No! You need your seatbelt! Seatbelt's save lives!" I exclaim dramatically. "Calm down, it's not like something is going to happen-"
"-BUCKLE YOUR SAFETY!" I shout, cutting him off once again. He stares at me strangely. "That doesn't even make sense," He sighs, shaking his head as he puts on his seatbelt. "Sure it does." I reply, smiling sweetly and looking out the window.
"You're one strange girl." He says as he begins driving. "I know," I respond simply, giggling a bit.

Heyo!!! I'm sorry this chapter came out late, it was actually supposed to come out yesterday or two days ago. Whoops..
Anyway, when I reread the first chapters of this story, I realized how much editing it's going to need when it's done. Holy crap, I'm awful at writing😫 I feel like I've progressed more as I write more chapters but damn, compared to what I read, this is garbage. But I like to improve more and I like the way the story is coming along. You guys are in for some crazy fun🌚 *wink**wonk*
And, of course, if you enjoyed this chapter please like, comment, and leave feedback..since feedback is always appreciated. Bye bye💖

In the Light of His Infernal Fire
"It is said that at the night of Walpurgis, the barrier in between worlds is at its weakest. However, for Kyouko and other Magical Girls at Mitakihara, the situation got out of control much sooner as forces from beyond their universe started to creep in to change their fate forever. Beyond the veil of reality, the Dragon stirs, seeking to increase his growing hoard - not with gold or gems, but with people and worlds. Incubators played with magic and fate for far too long uncontested, and a little Blue Planet may be a new prize in the game." Disclaimer: Puella Magi Madoka Magica crossover with Original Setting. 8 196Unlimited Evolution [New]
“If anything can go wrong, it’ll go wrong”—Alex found the truth of this quote the hard way when his Thursday evening was ruined by a blinding golden light. Thrown to war against his wishes, in a world that was not his own, he didn’t even survive the first day. But, death was not his sweet retreat. It was just the beginning. Reborn as an Imp in the hellscape of a dungeon, Alex’s life just got more complicated. In a place where you are food to other monsters and a lump of EXP to humans… survival was nothing but luxury. But Alex will survive. He will squeeze every last bit of potential from his [System] and work his way up the ladder of the food chain until he is strong enough to step out of his prison. The first step to such a lofty goal is to conquer the menace of goblins. Unlimited Evolution narrates the struggles of a young man from earth who gets the short end of the stick even in a different world. After a betrayal that resulted in his death, he wakes as a monster in a dungeon where even his fellow monsters saw him as nothing but food. The story will be a little slow-paced in the beginning and the battles will be calculated, brutal, and short. The litRPG element will be there and the system plays an important role in world-building. I'll try to explore each and every character I introduce as much as I can. Hopefully, I do a good job in that aspect. **I hope you enjoy this book of mine.**

8 112Flashback: Siren Song
The year is 1969. Yancy Lazarus—bluesman, gambler, future world-class mage and fix-it man—is just a dumb, unlucky kid serving with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. With just a few weeks left to go until Yancy gets shipped back to the States, he’s just trying to keep his head down and avoid a body bag—no mean feat in Nam. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves. Just like the mysterious music drifting through the jungle toward Yancy's squad, Siren Song will get under your skin and sink its hooks into your mind. —eden Hudson, Author of Halo Bound (the Redneck Apocalypse series) *** Hey everyone, this is James Hunter. This story isn't a full length novel--its a novella length work (25K words), and is part of my Yancy Lazarus series. Its already free on Amazon, so I thought I'd post chapters here for the good folks of Royal Road. If you don't want to wait for updates or would prefer to read it on Kindle, you can pick it up for free here: https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B01066TLC0

It has been a millennium since the dawn of the war between the aradama and the Toji and there are absolutely no signs of the conflict ending.
