We woke up to Jack's mom knocking on the door. It was still dark out, and I glanced at the clock, which read 4:17. I was wrapped in Jack's arms, who was still fast asleep.

"Jack, wake up," I said softly, shaking him slightly. He groaned and rolled over. "We have to leave soon," I whispered.

"Wake me up in half an hour," he mumbled, his face pressed into his pillow. I sighed and got up, shuffling downstairs and grabbing two cups of coffee his dad had made for us. I placed our cups on his nightstand before slipping into his bathroom to get showered and changed. By the time I was finished, Jack had woken up. He was sitting in his bed, silently sipping his coffee and texting on his phone.

"Good morning. Are you excited?" I grinned, sitting next to him and drinking from my cup.

"Yeah. Everyone's already on their way, we're texting now. Chosen just boarded his flight," he yawned.

Twenty minutes and two cups of coffee later, we were sitting in the backseat of Jack's car. His suitcase was stuffed in the trunk, and we had begun our six hour drive. We dropped my sleepover bags off at my house before we left. We didn't know how late we'd be back. The caffeine hadn't quite hit us yet. We were struggling to stay awake. I laid down on Jack's lap as he rested his head on the window.

I blinked awake two hours later. The sun had risen, and we were driving past what seemed to be wheat fields. Jack was awake, typing excitedly on his phone. I could tell how happy he was, and I knew he was texting the camp group chat. I was really glad he was going to see his friends again. I could tell how much he missed them.

"You're awake," he grinned, kissing my forehead before I sat up.

"Did you sleep well?" Jack's mom, who was driving, asked, glancing in the rear view mirror. I nodded.

"Only four more hours!" his dad informed us. Jack put down his phone and grabbed my hand, interlocking our fingers.

"Wanna listen to music?" he offered. I agreed, and he handed me an earbud. I placed my head against the glass, watching the fields blur past. I couldn't bring myself to look at him, I was too sad. I had less than a day left with him. I knew I was being dramatic, but still, it sucked. The next time I was going to be in a car it would be on the way home. Without him. I sighed, and I felt Jack move his hand to my leg.

"Let's play a road trip game. Like we used to, remember?" he suggested lightly. I think he could tell I was upset. I smiled at his effort.

"Of course. I spy?" I proposed.

We spent the next hour playing i spy, then the hour after that talking, then the hour after that playing karaoke with Jack's dad.

"We're almost there! Just an hour to go," his mom told us, interrupting Jack's awful singing. We became quiet after that.

"Who are you most excited to see?" I asked. He thought for a moment.

"I really don't know. I've missed everyone a lot. But not as much as I'm going to miss you," he answered, squeezing my hand.

We finally arrived at camp at around 11. We drove through a small forest, then pulled into a parking spot in a dirt clearing. We stepped out of the car and began unloading Jack's belongings. I looked around, taking it all in. We walked further up the dirt road, where we came to a grass field. There were benches and picnic tables scattered around, and I could see cabins in the distance. There was a huge unlit campfire in the center of everything. Parents and their children could be seen milling around, talking amongst themselves and lugging suitcases around. I opened my mouth to speak, but before I could get any words out, someone ran past me and jumped into Jack's arms.

"Jaeden!" Jack shouted, laughing and spinning around. They broke apart. Jaeden was taller than I remembered. Either that or he'd grown since I'd last seen him.

"I missed you," he beamed, his arm firmly around Jack's shoulder.

"You know I missed you more," Jack grinned. I hadn't seen him this happy and excited in a long time. "Where are the others?" he questioned.

"Wyatt and Jeremy are unpacking, and Sophia is stuck in traffic. Chosen's over there." Jaeden pointed to Chosen, who was hauling a suitcase across the grass, with a woman who I assumed to be his mother. He made eye contact with us and waved, dropping his bag in the process. His mom yelled at him and he apologetically returned to his task. "Look, here comes Bill," he added, nodding at a man carrying a clipboard approaching us.

"Jack Grazer, glad to have you back this summer. Hoping to get the lead in the play this year?" the man, Bill, asked. He marked something down on his clipboard.

"Of course, Bill. I've missed you," Jack greeted him.

"That's Mr. Hader to you. Actually Captain Hader. That has a nice ring to it. And who's this?" Bill wondered, turning to me.

"Hi, I'm Madison, Jack's girlfriend," I introduced myself, extending my hand to shake his.

"I'm Bill, the head counselor," he smiled. "Jack, it says here you forgot to fill out the medical form this year. I have an extra in my office, you can do it now. It will only take five minutes," Bill said.

"I can give Madison a tour while you go," Jaeden offered, and we all agreed.

"So this is the famous camp," I sighed as we began the grand tour.

"Yep. Most of us have been coming here for years. Ellie is the newest arrival to our friend group, but the rest of us have basically grown up together." We wandered around the grounds, Jaeden pointing out anything of significance. We passed the dining hall, cabins, a gym, outdoor and indoor stage, and soccer field.

"This is the lake," Jaeden told me. There was a small beach and two docks surrounding the body of water. "The dock over there is where we go to drink and stuff. The counselors pretty much let us do whatever we want down there, as long as we don't bring it back to our cabins. We do it anyways though. We've always had a cabin with just me, Wyatt, Jack, Jeremy, Finn, and Chosen. Sophia and Ellie have always been paired up too," he explained.

"So they just don't care what you do on the dock?" I questioned. He shook his head.

"Nope. That's where Jack and Ellie had their first kiss. That was a weird night," he remembered.

"I probably didn't need to know that," I laughed. Jaeden checked his phone.

"We should probably head back, Finn just got here," he said. We walked back, catching up since the last time we'd seen each other. I spotted someone familiar as we approached the main field.

"Sophia!" I squealed, running up to her and embracing her.

"Hi!" she grinned. "How are you? How's Jack?" she added.

"He's good, just filling out some forms. How are you?" I responded. We talked for a little until more people joined us.

"Hi Madison," Wyatt greeted me calmly, but he broke into a smile and hugged me warmly. Jeremy soon walked over, followed by Chosen. Finally, Jack returned. Everyone took turns hugging him.

"Come with me," Jack said, pulling at my sleeve. He led me on the path I'd followed with Jaeden. The air was warm, and everything seemed so happy. I was glad Jack was spending the summer doing something he loved. We ended up on the dock Jaeden had pointed out before. We walked right to the edge, pulling off our shoes and dipping our toes into the clear water. It was surprisingly warm. We held hands, taking in the scenery.

"Happy to be back here?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"So happy. I really missed it. And everyone else. I'm sad though. I don't want you to leave," he said slowly. I nodded.

"I know. It's only three months," I assured him. It seemed like I was convincing myself that.

"Just think, when we're married and I'm a famous actor we'll have to be apart for months because of filming. This is like a free trial," he laughed.

"I'll visit you then," I reminded him. "You'll never be able to get rid of me," I giggled, flicking water towards him with my foot.

"Hey," he laughed, slashing me with his hand. We proceeded to have a full on water fight. Our clothes were soaked, and we couldn't stop laughing. His hair was wet, his soft curls dripping water into his eyes. I stopped suddenly, an overwhelming wave of sadness washing over me.

"I don't want to leave you," I whispered, tears sprigging to my eyes. "I'm gonna miss you so much," I sobbed. He pulled me into a tight hug. "I love you so much. You mean everything to me and I know I'm being dramatic but I don't know how I'm going to survive without you. This year has been fucking insane. I fell so far in love with you. I didn't know it was possible to feel like this about someone. I know it's only three short months but I need you. We need each other." I couldn't even continue, I was crying so hard. Jack let me sob into his already wet shirt.

"Madison," he began, grabbing my shoulders so we were facing each other. I was surprised to see his eyes were filled with tears. "It's ok. Three short months. That's it. And don't forget," he paused, leaning in and kissing me, then continuing. I was going to miss that. He would randomly kiss me in the middle of his sentence then talk as if it was nothing. It made me cry harder. "There's no one in the world that matters more to me than you," he continued. "You're not only my girlfriend, you're my best fucking friend. I don't care how cliche that sounds. We're past that. You're my entire world. I would do anything and everything for you. Think about how good it's going to feel when we see each other in September," he smiled. I grinned weakly. I heard voices, and turned to see Sophia and Wyatt approaching us. They were holding hands.

"Are they-" I began, but Jack had an answer ready.

"They're not dating. Wyatt has a girlfriend at home," he answered.

"I didn't know you guys were down here," Wyatt said once he was in earshot. "Did you guys fall in the lake?" he asked, noticing our drenched clothes.

"Splashing fight," he explained. "Can you guys let us have a moment? She's leaving soon," Jack begged. They complied, retreating back towards camp.

"Let's not talk about me leaving," I smiled. "Let's just talk about something else." We proceeded to talk about the past year. We laughed at my first kiss with Finn, and how gullible I'd been, and the fact that Jack ignored me for weeks straight. I almost forgot about having to leave. The sun was much lower in the sky, and I wondered how long it had been since we first arrived. More voices drifted towards us, and we turned to see Finn and Jaeden nearing.

"What can we do to get a little peace and quiet around here?" Jack yelled impatiently. Jaeden laughed.

"Hi Finn," I waved. I hadn't seen him all day.

"Hey. Jaeden and I came out here to smoke," Finn said, holding up a plastic bag of weed.

"Can you wait five fucking minutes?" Jack groaned. "We're in the middle of a goodbye here."

"Actually, your parents wanted me to tell you that they're leaving," Finn responded.

"Fine." Jack and I stood up and left the dock after I said bye to Finn. We hugged each other tightly, thanking each other for the year we'd shared.

Jack and I returned to the main field. We spotted Jack's parents talking with a group of adults, who I was introduced to as Jaeden, Wyatt, and Chosen's parents.

"Alright, looks like we're heading home. We have a long car ride ahead of us," Jack's mom announced. Jack's parents hugged him goodbye. Then it was my turn. I hugged Jack longer than I ever have before, crying into his shoulder. His necklace, our necklace, pressed coldly into my cheek.

"I love you," I whispered.

"I love you so much."

The car ride home was long. I spent the first hour listening to sad music and crying, my face pressed against the window. Jack's parents didn't bother me until the tears had stopped. My phone died in the second hour. I then took a two hour nap, drained from all the tears and lack of sleep. The remaining hours were spent talking to Jack's parents. When they finally pulled into my driveway to drop me off, it was dark out. I thanked them for everything, then entered my house. I went straight to my room, rummaging in my closet and pulling out the sweatshirt Jack had given me. I slipped in on, plugging my phone in and lying on my bed. I didn't really know what to do. Summer had begun, and three of my best friends weren't here to share it with me. My phone finally turned on, and I opened it to find a spam from Jack. I smiled.
