Aleksios P.O.V:
After Tyler sped away we call Elijah and told him where we where. To say we were shocked to see an unknown hybrid was putting in gently. First Nik lost his shit, then he got excited and now he's angry and although he won't admit it, confused. We are waiting at the shack when Elijah and Hayley return. Once they approach the porch, Nik shoves Dwayne's dead body in front of them.
"There you are! I see you've found our wandering stray. Perhaps you could shed some light on the situation. This-" Nik say and kicks the body again."-appears to be a hybrid." Nik continues.
"His name was Dwayne." Hayley says and I look her over curiously.
"Well, whoever it was, I didn't sire him and neither did Lex. Any idea how that's possible?" Nik asks her curiously.
Hayley stomps toward him. "As if you didn't know!" She yells at him and I speed infront of her and I give her a glare.
"I may think of you as family Hayley but only I'm allowed to speak to him like that. And before you start throwing accusations you might want to get your facts straight." I say sternly and Elijah pulls Hayley back and walks in front of her to protect her from Nik and I.
"Ahhh, well, aren't you two fast friends? Oh, come on, then. What kind of horrible accusation have you conspired to levy against me?" Nik asks unamused from behind me and I speed backwards until I'm by his side.
"Tyler Lockwood brought Hayley here to test a theory." Elijah starts and Nik and I nod at him to continue. "That the blood of her child could be used to sire hybrids. He claims that you knew that. Furthermore, that you intended to use this knowledge to build an army." He concludes and my jaw hits the ground and my eyes pop.
"Holy shit." I breath out before I cringe and I think how Nik will take this accusation.
"And, of course, you assume it's true. I mean, why else would I show interest in my own flesh and blood? A heartbroken little crybaby points his finger at me, and my own brother falls in line, eager to believe it! How quickly you believe the worst, especially when it comes from her." Nik says hurt and angry.

"Uh oh." I mutter. This is going to get ugly.
"Oh, spare me your indignation. When have you ever demonstrated any kind of concern towards Hayley or her child, beyond your own selfish pursuits? And what was it you once said to me?" He impersonates Nik "Every king needs an heir!" Elijah says and I scoff.
"My big brother. So, you doubt my intentions? Well, I can't say I'm surprised, standing next to the noble Elijah, how can I be anything but the lesser brother? A liar, a manipulator, a bastard."
Nik says and my heartbreaks for him. I know we are both bastards but he always gets it the worst. The two stare at each other as Nik approaches him. Elijah seems to be reconsidering his position.
"That's all I am to you, isn't it? And Rebekah. The only one who's stood by me unconditionally is Lex! And, judging by the way Hayley hangs on your every word, it's clear she feels the same way!" Nik says and pauses, looking even more hurt. "No doubt my child will as well." He continues and I glare at Elijah.
"Brother, if-" Elijah says more kindly.
"You've said all that needs to be said, brother." Nik interupts him. He steps back a few steps and holds his arms out in defeat. "I'll play the role I've been given."
"Oh boy." I say and he turns as though he's going to walk away, but instead, he turns back quickly and speeds over to Elijah before biting him savagely on the neck. Hayley screams in horror and runs over to him.
Nik wipes his mouth with his hand. "You two enjoy each other's company. You'll have much to bond over, once the hallucinations and dementia set in. Consider that bite to be my parting gift to you both." Nik says walks away, leaving Elijah and Hayley to fend for themselves.
I stay behind and look at Elijah.
"Your blood can heal him, can't it?" Hayley asks me hopefully.
"It can." I say nodding.
"Don't even ask, I won't heal him." I say and Hayley looks enraged.
"Why not?" She spits out.
I speed towards her and grab her in a light choke hold.
"Mind your tone with me. I may consider you family but Niklaus is my twin. I will always choose his side. You think he's bad? Hayley, you've only had a glimpse if how I can be when I was anger at Elijah for snapping my neck. And even that was a nice version of who I can become. You don't know me. My kindness towards you was a courtsey because you are pregnant with my twin' child but it only extents so far." I snarl at her and I release her when I'm done and I turn to Elijah.

"And you. Claimed to be the noble brother but quick to judge Nik because of his past actions. You should be ashamed of yourself. As far as I'm concerned, one bite is too little of a punishment." I say and I smirk devilishly at him. I speed towards him and I give him another bite and Hayley screams again.
"You had it coming." I say and I speed home.

"Nik!" I call out when I enter the house.
"Lex." I hear a familiar voice say.
"Thought you left." I say and she looks guitly before looking angry.
"Did you leave him these aswell?" She asks and I smirk.
"Leave him? No, I gave him a bite of my own." I say and I speed to where I smell Nik before she can say and thing.
"Hey." I say plopping down next to Nik on the couch in his room but he doesn't answer me.
"Thank you." He says after a while, refering to me standing by him and I smile.
"Always and Forever. Right?" I say reaching over to hug him.
"Always and Forever." He says hugging me back.
He pulls away and I see him sporting a mischievious smile and I groan.
"So Davina?" He asks with a smile.
"What about Davina?" I ask, playing the dumb card.
"Come now, Lex." He says with a chuckle and I sigh.
"I don't know what to say Nik. She just makes me feel." I say and he looks at me in surprised.
"What to you feel?" He asks me a softly.
"Well...for starters I have this feeling in my stomach when I hear her name and see her, I think it's butterflies though because of what Bekah has said in the past and when I'm near her my hear speeds up. And I get protective of her. Oh and when I found out that they want to sacrifice her I wanted to slaughter the lot of them. I was so mad. And when she smiles because of me I feel ten feet tall. Being around her gives me this warm feeling inside and when we touch, spark shoots." I explain excitedly and Nik has a soft smile on his face.
"What does this mean?" I ask him.
"Well twin sister, it seems as if after a thousand years you're finally falling in love." He says and my eyes widen.
"Love?" I ask him, the words feeling strange in my mouth. Sure I love my family but being in love?
I've never been in love. Not once in a thousand years. Not even when I was human. Did I only have one love? And I only find her now?
"Are you sure?" I ask him and he nods.
"All the signs are there. Rebekah is going to be overjoyed." He says and I narrow my eyes at him.
"You're not going to say anything. Not until I figure out my feelings." I say and he looks at me in disbelief.
"What is there to figure out?" He asks in a tone matching him facial expression.
"It's alot to take in and process. I mean I've never felt this way and I've been alive for a thousand years." I tell him and he nods.
"Okay." He says and I get an idea.
"Hey, wanna have a sleepover?" I ask him and he laughs heartily.
"Aren't we a little old for sleepovers?" He asks smiling and I throw him an annoyed look.
"Do you want to or not?" I ask him. He thinks about it for a while before he nods.
"Why not?" He answers with a grin.
"Okay, so you set things up I have something to do." I say with a grin and Nik smirks at me knowingly.
"Oh whatever." I say with a huff and I speed off.
I speed to the chuch and then up to the attic. As I enter the attic I smell Josh's scent and I frown.
I walk over to her bed to see her sleeping soundly and I smile.
I bend over and kiss her on the forehead and whisper the same words as before:
"Sleep tight, love."

Steps of the Immortal Tree
Evan stood on a hill, staring calmly at the gate of his former clan. A crowd waited behind him, some eyeing the clan in an unresigned manner, others looking at their spiritual support. Some of the young children shivered at the gnawing cold. Wind howled in his ears, seemingly deploring his fate. A silvery cloud drifted over the mountains surrounding the compound. The roar of a river could be heard from underneath its frozen surface. He had reincarnated many years ago. Hailed as a prodigy from his youngest age, Evan had seemingly tread on a path to invincibility. He had gotten married with his childhood sweetheart and had cultivated with a group of friends, forming a considerable power of his own. Yet now, here he was, devoid of any path to move forward, with his energy locus destroyed. His wife was dead and his branch had been kicked out of the clan. He looked at his progeny that had been entrusted to him. The baby seemed content in his father’s strong arms, too young to understand anything but the warmth of the father’s beating heart. Signaling to the people behind him, he turned around and the procession gradually disappeared in the distance, as the sun gradually set and the stars acted as a guide. --- Author-san here.
